  1. I booked my first solo princess cruise! I'm sailing on the sapphire princess may 25 pacific coastal. Single supplement but price is good. I sailed on royal caribbean and there was a couch in the room. The princess inside appears to just have a desk and bed. Are they as small as they look?
  2. Thanks. I just booked a may 10 pacific coastal cruise that was cheap and i didn’t know why!
  3. Just to add, royal does seem to have the most posts on cruise plum. On brilliance of the seas the interior room had a couch and it felt very spacious. The princess ship interior i'm booked on has no couch and looks small. So there are perks
  4. I shouldn't of spoken against royal as i haven't investigated prices recently. I was more shocked at celebrity but i can't afford it anyways. As a more affordable line, hope there are more pockets of value at royal.
  5. It seems like there are good prices on caribbean cruises early january. But i know last year was a mess with snow at airport in vancouver. This year you had the bahamas cruise that was diverted to east coast. Am i extrapolating based on recent events or is it a bad time to go?
  6. Just wondering if princess ever has these sales?
  7. I wondered if the 100.00 deposit would actually end and it did i guess they do those as short flash sales.
  8. Thanks. I didn't know that. That is good to know.Even norwegian! Wow! I didn't belive princess was building small ships either? Just to add its disapointing as probably norwegian is the only affordable cruise line i could cruise on
  9. I have another question. Is it roughest between victoria and vancouver and astoria and victoria or would it also be rough between los angeles, san francisco and san diego? Just to add i ended up booking the spring cruise. I liked it spends 8-10 in san francisco and san diego, goes to astoria and 12-10 in victoria. The fall had 3 ports only and a lot less time in san diego. I guess i'll hope for the best. I just want to mentally prepare myself for when its roughest
  10. If one of the cruise ship companies chose to build small ships wouldn’t it give them a competitive advantage over the others?
  11. I thought i’d give an update my situation. I did phone and leave a message with my cruise consultant this morning letting him know i wanted to book and he never returned my phone call. I decided to go ahead and book as supposedly today is the last day for 100.00 deposit. (I know probably not). I will give it a go with the call centre. However i am going to phone and get a different cruise consultant. Next cruise i will ask for travel agent recommendations. I will continue to try different things out until i settle on the right one. Thanks for the encouragement.
  12. I would have liked to book for cancel any reason too. The only 2 options i could find are tugo and manulife, both offer 50% cancel for any reason. With tugo it says you need to buy within 5 days of purchase or before penalties apply so i’m hoping that means before final payment but i don’t know if its worth it. Maybe its more worth it to look closely for covered reasons for regular cancellation insurance.
  13. Just to clarify i was referring to-the princess cruise consultants when i said the price was the same. Even then i’ve got a better quote once by 100.00 or so for the caribbean. As for TAs it seems better quotes are for guarantees and i’m not interested in that having a bad experience being placed under the kitchen. I also disliked that during this current sale i would still have to pay 250US when the deposit is only 100.00 right now. In canadian 250US balloons to over 300.00.
  14. I'm just wondering if you used a cruise planner could you cancel and rebook or would that be frowned upon? Thanks everyone for the responses. Very informative.
  15. Glad to see this thread is still active! I still hope to see some small ships built. I’m trying out princess but it also seems they are skeptical about princess building small ships too. I wonder if the cruise companies are looking at each other to see what others are doing. Maybe they prefer to be secret about it for competitive reasons.
  16. Wow! Thanks for sharing. That's definitely a reason to go with cruise consultant. Mine is british. I didn't have problems understanding the royal caribbean ones, not sure where they were from. I still feel like i'll feel guilty if i need to cancel or rebook but i guess i shouldn't feel that way.
  17. I actually think it may be nice to email as i felt i phoned quite a bit, but often it wasn't urgent.
  18. Just to clarify, when i sailed on my cruise on royal caribbean, i booked online. I didn't have any problems as i could get someone on the phone relatively easily. How is it getting a hold of princess? Are these people competent? I don't feel super confident in my cruise planner as he ghosted me a few times but he said he had switched jobs. So i am on the fence about him.
  19. Thanks this is great as i will most likely go on a cruise with astoria due to cost. However, i still appreciate other opinions as i am from vancouver and would maybe take a pacific coastal again with a different port.
  20. I'm not sure i can ask this, so if not please let me know. I'm wondering about the benefit of booking through the cruise consultant. The price is exactly the same if i book online vs. with the cruise consultant. I've never cruised on princess so i wonder if there is some benefit to booking with the cruise consultant, but i'm not sure. I also feel guilty as if i cancel again this will be the second time. I sort of like the anonymity of booking online, paying 100.00 deposit and then cancelling if i need to. (Its just due to work i'm not 100% sure). On the other hand, as i said if he can answer questions that may help.
  21. I was shocked how much more the fall pacific wine country sailings were compared to may 10th booking, particularly in Canadian. I’l definitely book!
  22. Thank you! It is seeming like the sept 25 cruise may be best. I've heard the weather can be cool in the spring in california too.
