  1. I did a double take this morning on the Staten Island Ferry when I saw the Escape parked near Staten Island. The wind and rain from this storm was no joke as I had a front row seat to the conditions on the 25th floor of an office building with no other tall buildings around to act as a shield. Seems like there is a lull in the storm now (10:45PM) so hopefully it'll be an uneventfull trip up the Hudson to Pier 88.
  2. Thanks for the shoutouts everyone! Been a busy summer work-wise for me. I was actually in Norfolk this past weekend for an airshow and missed all the fun in NYC with the ships around. Stayed at a hotel where the relief crew for a Carnival ship was being housed. I think I can still pass for a young-ish crew member if I kept my cap on! That would've gotten me a free breakfast at the hotel.
  3. No, not all all, please use them as you see fit. If you're onboard and was on the starboard side of the ship, I can try to zoom in and find you. LOL.
  4. Due to fleet week and the USS Wasp docked on one side of Pier 88 (the south side), security is intense. Pedestrian and traffic barriers are everywhere. I was just there this morning visting the ship and could see what a nightmare this could be. Hopefully this won't be the case but be prepared. I have no idea how they will deal with the traffic for the parking lot. The exit ramp that exits from the south side is blocked because you have a clear line of sight to the carrier flight deck.
  5. Glad the heaviest rain stopped just before your NYC departure!
  6. Heavy downpours the last two days here in NYC, expecially today, Sunday. Full weekend washout. Surprised at the size of the Shanghai Noodles. I just realized that on the Getaway it was called Shanghai Noodles "Bar" and thus smaller. That was constantly way too packed for me to try when the buffet was always right there for me.
  7. Coming in late to this review and it seems like you're just warming up! NCL cruiser here and very curious about the RCL trips from Bayonne. I'm going to break your rule of no photos by adding two of the ship that I took as I was walking to my lookout spot under the Verrazano Bridge on Sunday 4/23. While the NCL ships are always late leaving NY, you can set your watch with RCL departures and I was late this time! Hopefully you get a dry window for arrival tomorrow. It's been raining like crazy here today and more on the way tomorrow.
  8. Thanks for all of this and looking forward to more! I’ve been buried with work moving two offices and got the big data center moved yesterday finally. Left the office around 10 PM right into a heavy thunderstorm. You must’ve been past the Verrazano by this point. You mentioned seeing last minute insides were still available in an earlier post. You were still able to access this sailing on the website within 7 days of departure?
  9. BTS tour on the Gataway sailing last month was $125 or $135, don't quite remember. I do remember that even with the $50 excursion credit it was too much for me to stomach despite wanting to get a peek at the bridge.
  10. Wow, what an adventure for the first Prima sailing from NYC in 2023. During my 5-day sailing last October to Bermuda on her we also hit rough seas on the way home but I was pleasantly surprised at how stable the ship felt given how it looked outside. Of course wind speeds and direction could be a major factor. On the Getaway last month we enountered seas that to my untrained eyeballs didn't look at bad as what I saw on the Prima but that ship was rocking all over the place. Enough water splashed out of the main pool to basically render it empty. I had read somewhere (can't find the source now) that due to the more central location of the engines on the Prima (also a cause of the weird layout complaints?) the ship would be more stable in rough waters compared to ships with more weight in the rear with a traditional engine layout. Wish someone with some real knowledge would chime in and help with my curiosity.
  11. Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that. I was super careful during the trip because I didn't want to miss my scuba excursion that came at the end of the cruise. I made it for the excursion but still came home with a cold for a week as soon as I got back.
  12. Installing the network systems in new office this week. They're going to put up half a dozen huge displays. I'm already testing the Wifi speeds by watching my own 4K video. I think I'm going to put my helicopter excursion video in a loop on all the new screens! Hey, it's work related!!
  13. Funny, but I've been binge watching some of those videos the last few days!
  14. Yes, I recorded almost the ENTIRE volcano tour. Skip around if you want to but let's go for a ride shall we?
  15. Finally have some time today to edit my videos from this trip. First up is the snorkel excursion in St. Kitts. Not many large fish to see but the water was clear and it beats sitting in front of a computer! Next up is the helicopter volcano tour but that'll be later this afternoon before the upload is complete.
  16. Thank you for the limp idea, I'll need to try this the next time!!
  17. The amount of activities on the island is somewhat limited since it's not a full fledged port. That said, more activities may show as the criuse gets closer. I do remember doing a Stingray excursion from GSC back in 2019 before Covid.
  18. I had this happen for a existing account I've used for years. According to the tech I spoke to the system was changed to accept only email addresses (or names formatted as an email) for the user ID field. My original account had a plain username and it worked until it didn't. Made me go round and round thinking my account had been hacked. Didn't help that this happened a few days after I had booked a new cruise!
  19. I was on the 5:30PM Staten Island Ferry chasing the Getaway out of NY harbor when you guys put the brakes on. Medical emergency we presume? Hope the rest of the cruise is smooth sailing.
  20. Oh boy, not good. I was on the Staten Island ferry following her around 5:50PM when the brakes were put on. Edit: Looks like she's back underway 7:04PM
