No, I mean when they do free "surprise" upgrades.

I'm okay with the cabin I'm in, so either way, it's all good. On that note, if I mark my cabin as "no upgrades", can I still bid for an upgrade or am I locking myself out of an upgrade? I want to have more of a say where I'm going and not get surprised with what Princess thinks is an upgrade.

They will no longer swap out anything at all on Royal Princess. What I got was what I got. I asked the room steward and room service. They said they no longer switch anything out. A bit disappointed but I had Princess Plus for that sailing. It will irk me more if this is fleet-wide and continues on ships that I don't have Princess Plus on.

I'm curious...for those who have scored winning bids, when was the soonest you've heard? For example, our sailing is letting us bid 85 days out...did you hear relatively quickly or are they mostly letting you know right before sailing? Will they potentially leave you in limbo until days before? If your bid is rejected early on, can you re-submit for a higher bid? Thanks!

I just looked and it turns out my Caribe cabin is above a white space on Dolphin deck. Thanks for mentioning that!

$400 more. I'm contemplating it. My "free" cruise is getting more expensive.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I learned not to have a cabin anywhere near a white space (side, above or below) after experiencing all 3. Ah, the joys of cruising. I feel like I'm going back to slumming it in an inside since I've been spoiled as of late with balconies, but this cruise was too good to pass up and I don't want to spend $1600 more on a balcony. Going to try for an upgrade!

(I know, I know, y'all jump all over me when I ask questions about the TV, but it's MY vacation, so if you have an opinion, kindly zip it. Lol.) I'd like to know if the angle on the TV in an inside cabin means you have to crane your neck to see it. It looks like it's in the corner and not straight in front of you like on other ships and other cabins. Was it an issue?

Hi! I know this is an old post, but I'm curious how the water temp was in the retreat pool? I tried to "lap" swim in the retreat pool on Discovery and the water was so cold, I couldn't even get in! Nobody used it the entire cruise because it was so cold. I'm sure it's itinerary specific and depends on what time of year,but a general idea would be helpful. Thanks!

I think people would be blasting you no matter the cruise line! You want something for nothing. Move on. Total you are out: Zero dollars.

So, let's say I'm going full 80's mode on an 80's themed cruise. (Makes sense, right?) Do I have to dress for dinner in normal smart casual attire and change back into my leg warmers and neon jellies after? Or can I rock my 80's look in the dining room since it's a themed cruise? Thanks!

For anyone else having this problem, use a computer and not a phone. That's what worked for me, anyway!

Saturday morning trivia: I've been on the ship twice and see it advertised...where is the ping pong table on Discovery? 😂

I happened upon Indian Night in the buffet on a recent Discovery Princess cruise and the food was amazing! Was that a special thing or do they usually offer it once a cruise? Do you think it will offered on a 3 or 4 night cruise? I'm not a foodie, but it was so good, I might need to find a local buffet! (I probably enjoyed it so much because it was toned down for all the Americans!) Haha. The curry level was perfect!
