Well if you like sailing on Carnival, then you have a def problem.

I lived in CT for many years and my daughter lived there for 4 years and spent a ton of time there. I can tell you with 100% certainty that part of New York City culture (the city and part of the ethnicity) and what the OP described is absolutely part of the city life. We have sailed from NY on 3 lines and saw it on all 3.

November is a lifetime away time wise. That said, Haiti has been a MESS for a very long time. My guess is that with a couple of months, there will be a new government or some group in charge, and everything will calm down and cruises will resume. Money DOES make the world go around and all these entities know that.

Interesting review from a fresh set of eyes. Thanks for doing your review. The Panorama is one of the “new” breed of Carnival ships. The older were designed (interior wise by the same guy Joe Farcus, who had a certain flair. The older ships were more a less the same exterior design, but bigger and more features. The Panorama is the last of three in a class where they broke that mold. Again, thanks for doing the review, you better scratch that Alaskan itch.

I am not sure (was on her this past year but honestly do not remember if she has been upgraded to star link). If she has not, it will probably be done during dry dock after your TA, Someone might have better info.

We were there last November. I was a little under the weather and stayed under the thatched roofs. Some in our party did swim, but I do not remember anything positive or negative. I have never been super impressed with the beaches in that area anyway.

You are making a choice that fits for you. A perfect example of what we all should do with knowledge gained. Not the ultimate beach port by most standards, which makes sense to to take into account, There is not right or wrong answer.
