  1. Sometimes, variety is the spice of life
  2. I am not sure I get your point. Mine was that the way NCL sells it (Del Rio was great at this), the package appears to be a great deal, but the reality is that it is smoke and mirrors, and not a deal at all.
  3. I would love to see the data behind their Euro sailings. Years back, it was a hard sell, not sure why. My sense is that it is doing WAY better. In the US market, some homeports just struggle. NYC year round is one, San Juan is another, and before Panorama, the 7 day market struggled on the west coast. Just some color to your comment on the ptential for market change vs the way it was.
  4. I doubt they would, but after doing Antartica on Celebrity, I would jump on Carnival if they did it. The did SA once when they sailed the Splendor around, think it was 3 separate segments. Not sure if the economics work, but I could lead groups on those all day long.
  5. For the VAST majority, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Marketing ploys are like lipstick on the pig.
  6. Will move on after this post. All things count. All things add up into the decisions. Increasing revenue streams does not impact their issues, the gangs, the violence, in all likelihood they increase it. I have no belief they will change their view. Dead Presidents speak volumes.
  7. Which can change in a heartbeat. There are choices, we all make. Go to where the state dept says you are in danger, or somewhere else. Couple more incidents and it flips like a switch.
  8. Did I say differently? Now we will see how the industry reacts. I will respond with some bullets which back up my point. The Bahamas is on a list of areas that are under scrutiny. The state department has raised the level, warning Americans on going there. Cruise lines have done the same. Is the best way to deal with their issues tax more? I could go on and on.
  9. At the end of the day, they will do what makes most sense for “them”, as it is with every line. If 3 to 5 days becomes the way for MG, we will with a heavy sigh, move on to other CCL ships. If that makes them more profitable, then that is where they will go. As I have said many times, cruising is evolving. Bigger and bigger ships, more limited ports of call, and more cruise line amusement parks on the ships and on their private ports of call. All that said, we will cruise on smaller ships, go on longer cruises and explore new places.
  10. To be honest, have not looked at depth at Celebration port. I would be shocked if it opened on schedule, just the Caribbean way. I am sure it will be profitable, but prob not on our list of must go to’s, but sure we will visit (by default). I am not a fan of cococay at all, but rhat is just me. Meg ships are kind of floating amusement parks now, will be more so if they get bigger. Imagine if you will the third iteration of icon class with a full amusement park (for pay)…not my idea of a cruise. Make it a 4 or 5 day, I can pretty much guarantee I would not go on for free….but that is just me.
  11. Yeah, every decision I make is terrible. But I get confused, is this thread on cococay? Is this thread on RCCL?
  12. Spirit to Tampa did not take a lot of thought….I would sail a ship around the horn
  13. 2027 is a ways off, but have no idea on what the Australian government will “allow”. I would be shocked for an excel doing 4 and 5 day cruises. I see no reason for doubling up a current homeport with 2 excel class. But there are not a lot of options…US based anyways……currently.
  14. Firenze is I believe set with doing 4 or 5 day cruises. I doubt they would take an excel class and send it to Norfolk, but who knows. Galveston is Carnivals premier homeport, they will rule always and get premier attention. I would be surprised if any others get sent to scrap, but they have not asked me for MHO.
  15. Answers to your questions: 1. Guests that have a specialty dining can go to their assigned MDR also. They can leave the dining room at any time. 2. You can order whatever you want in the MDR it is part of what you paid for. I personally would not order a meal if I was not going to or planning to eat it, but that is me. You can still check in and go to CHi Bang. 3. If your bookings are linked for dining purposes, they should put you all together (multiple tables). Not being judgmental here, but it sounds like you booked these yourself, if you use a PVP or TA, they could assist and manage all of this for you. Just a thought.
