Hello, Newman's Achievements

Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Your subtle, and not so subtle Seinfeld references are not lost on me.
  2. Wart slides? That's an amenity I can live without.
  3. It has been our experience on a few different ships that a pass to the Enclave is included with spa treatments.
  4. In our experience on the Discovery, Enchanted, and Emerald day passes are not sold, however, any treatments in the spa do come with a day pass to the Enclave for the day of your treatment. I am not sure if hair styling would also receive access to the Enclave. On our Alaska cruise we paid for the Enclave for the entirety of the cruise and with the chilly weather it was money well spent.
  5. One thing to keep in mind when doing a transatlantic cruise to Europe, many nights when you go to bed you will be crossing a time zone so you will be losing an hour of sleep numerous times during the cruise. When we did this cruise this last spring it was also coupled with the loss of daylight savings time. All those hours add up. Relaxing days at sea made it much easier to adjust.
  6. If you sign up for any spa services, such as a massage or facial, they will include the use of the Enclave at the conclusion of your treatment, That is one way to avoid paying for the use of the Enclave for the entire trip as opposed to just a day or two. The downside is that the cost of whatever spa treatment you get will ultimately cost more than pass to the Enclave.
  7. I can be done. I did this exact thing two weeks ago. We booked a transatlantic cruise and applied my wife's FCD, but not mine. She received the OBC immediately. A day later I got on a "live chat" with a Princess Rep who informed me that I could indeed apply my FCD to my booking and also receive the OBC. While I waited in "chat" the agent actually applied this to my booking. Before logging off from "chat" I checked my account online and the OBC had already been applied.
  8. Yes, you are correct. But to all those others reading this thread, please do not confuse connecting with the ships WiFi in order to use the Medallion App with gaining internet access. Accessing the internet requires signing up and paying for MedallionNet which you may then sign in for through the Medallion App. Too many people confuse the Medallion App with MedallionNet,
  9. Princess absolutely DOES provide this service. On our recent transatlantic cruise on the Enchanted Princess we stopped by Guest Services and exchanged a few hundred US dollars to Euros.

  11. We were also on the transatlantic portion of this cruise and can confirm the terrible internet service for the majority of the cruise. On the morning of our first day at sea after leaving Fort Lauderdale a speed test of the internet came in at 2.2 Mbps, but by afternoon the internet connection had been lost and the crew of the Enchanted Princess began explaining it would not be restored for four or five days as we approached Europe. When the ship finally started getting hints of internet service again the speeds came in as basically useless. Many times our speed checks came in around 50 Kbps which is not enough to even check the most basic of email servers. As we sailed around the coast of Spain the fastest speed registered at a whopping 340 Kbps close to Barcelona. It amounted to a two week cruise completely disconnected from friends and family (which may or may not be a bad thing). The WiFi on the ship was absolutely fine, the WiFi is not the internet.
  12. Here we are, one month later and CCL stock just closed the day at $10.35. In the short span of 30 days the stock has gained over $4.00 per share.
  13. We signed up for the Enclave package on our recent Alaskan cruise on the Discovery Princess. As we toured the Enclave on embarkation day the staff informed us on Alaskan cruises they are forced to cap the number of guests they sign up for the Enclave as the pool deck is not used as much so they get a high number of passengers looking for the warmth of the Enclave. Then as an additional control of the number of guests using the facility on sea days they asked those who signed up to make reservations. The best we could tell there was really no cap on the number they signed up and there was no turning people away if they used the Enclave at a time other than their reserved time. The thing that really was a downer was a fairly large group of individuals who discovered they could have one of their group sign up for the Enclave who would then let in the rest of the group. It didn't stop us from enjoying the space, it was just much more crowded than any other cruise we've been on.
  14. I know this is not about the itinerary you are asking about, but on our Panama Canal cruise Princess provided umbrellas for all guests who went to the monkey bridge during transit through the canal. It was a nice touch on the part of Princess as rain is quite common in that region.
