Sorry to hear about the Covid diagnosis. Unfortunately, no one really knows what is going to happen. The cruise lines are all just hoping and praying.

So much uncertainty at this point. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, hope your case is mild.

My husband and I were scheduled to sail on the MSC Seaside in their Yacht Club in April. Of course that was canceled. We took the 125% FCC and re-booked Seaside for October 31. (We have 3 reservations for our family)  This morning I got a call from my oldest daughter saying she received an email from MSC. We're now sailing on a completely different ship, the Meraviglia.  No notification for us at all, not even an email.  When I logged onto my reservation earlier today it showed the ship change with a GTY cabin. It changed an hour ago and we now have a stateroom assignment.

They just decided to move MSC Seaside to Port Canaveral beginning November 2020?

I'm a big planner, and no nothing about this new ship, deck layouts, etc.  My husband's actually delighted because it's a newer ship with a galleria (what they're calling a promenade), and he goes with the flow.

And we really have no idea still if this new cruise will end up being canceled.

Nice to read the Devina will sail out of Port Canaveral next year.  Miami is crowded and traffic is unbearable at times.  Flying into Orlando or Melbourne Airports will be much more convenient.

I'm excited about this as well.  I've always wanted to sail on this ship, and have very fond memories of sailing out of Port Canaveral.  I think our last cruise from PC was in 2012.

I voted November as well.  With the election November 3rd, there's no way they want cruising to start before the election and then have to stop for some outbreaks.  So, my guess is that they'll announce that cruising can start again in November (mostly short trips out of swing state Florida) to try to get more Florida votes.

I hope you're wrong.  If our next cruise happens, we'll be sailing on election day.

that’s all well and good, but if they open up cruising like that and get 1 case of covid, it’s all but over for them. Just about everyplace that has opened up has seen spikes in their numbers. This may be because of increased testing, but if you get a spike like that on a cruise ship, you might as well put a spike thru the hull of the ship and sink it.

    Agree with all of this.

We were supposed to sail in April, but of course that was canceled.  This was on MSC Seaside in their Yacht Club.  We took the 125% FCC (still haven't received 🙄), and re-booked for 10/31/20.  Crossing our fingers, but wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen again.

Perhaps we can start a thread on how long it is taking to get your FCC so people can start to plan.  Maybe give your original cruise date and when you got the credit.

My cruise date was April 18.  Nothing yet

    Same here.  4/18.  Nothing yet.

  6. We were scheduled to sail on Seaside 4/18/20.  I took the FCC and re-booked for 10/31/20.

Crossing my fingers that we'll be able to make it, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't happen.

Excursions and drinks packages will refund at 100% of what it cost you, you will also get it back as a straight refund to your credit card, not a FCC.

Yes.  And you can do this by logging onto your original reservation and canceling online.  I did this last week with laundry and internet packages, and it went right back to my card.

  8. I took the 125% FCC.  I received a confirmation email almost immediately.  However, the number associated with that email isn't what you use at time of rebooking to get your credit.  I rebooked this morning over the phone, and had to give a deposit, just like it's a brand new booking (which it is).  Once I receive the certificate (says it could take up to 60 days), I'll be able to apply it to the new reservation.

We were originally sailing in April, and now we've pushed it out to October.

  9. Not sure if any of you will know the answer to this question, but here's my situation.  We have 2 cruises booked on Seaside for the now canceled sailing on 4/18.  2 different reservations, one is ours and the other belongs to my daughter and a friend.  My husband and I will most likely re-book, but my daughter and friend may want to cancel.  I paid the balance for both reservations right before the due date on my credit card.  If they call to cancel their reservation, can she give them a different card number, or does it have to go back on my card?

I've never canceled a cruise before!

Me too, just wanting confirmation - the other lines specified in their announcements what the policies would be - NCL for example is offering 125% FCC or 100% refund.

So is MSC.  They're not sailing for 60 days.  100% refund or 125% FCC.

Problem is, when I look forward to rebook, the price on the rooms in the YC has really gone up.  I could cry.

  11. We live in the Chicago suburbs.  My husband and both of our daughters (the girls live and work in the city) are on mandatory work from home starting today for the next two weeks.  I own a pet sitting business, and have been getting texts and calls all morning from clients, same mandatory work from home.  For my business, this isn't a good thing.  I wish they'd let me still come and take their dogs for a walk.  I've had several spring break vacation clients cancel, and I'm anticipating more to come.  Our high school swing choir was scheduled to perform at Disney World, and many families were going.

My husband and I are scheduled to sail on 4/18 on MSC Seaside in their Yacht Club.  We have no plans to cancel, just taking it day by day and waiting to see what happens.  We have up to 48 hours before sail date to re-book.  Our flights are insured, so we can make changes.  (Elderly parents in assisted living, so we never take chances when flying anywhere.  Also, we  can't visit them for 2 weeks now.)

This worries me a little too.  Also, our last time on MSC we waited outside for a while in the YC tent before they took us in thru security.  Could being out in the heat for a period of time, or even just rushing around, (a hot flash??) cause my temperature to go up?

Any medical professionals out there who could weigh in on this?

  13. Currently I'd say no, just because living in the Midwest, we always have to fly, or a several day road trip, to the port.

If we were retired and living in Florida, I could very well see us doing a quick weekend getaway for a good price.  Around here, people go up to Wisconsin for the weekend all the time.  It'd be just like that, only better.  🙂

April 4th for us on Seaside. Unless they cancel the cruise, we are going. We are healthy and won't let fear control our lives.

Got a text from my neighbor last night asking "still planning on going on your cruise?"  I told her yes, unless we're told otherwise, no plans to cancel.

  15. Sailing on Seaside in April, again in the YC.  My husband and I were just talking about breakfasts on board, and I don't think we ever had breakfast up at the pool.  Do they make eggs cooked to order?  How about an omelet?

We usually have breakfast around 8am.  Would I be able to get a bloody Mary or Mimosa up there that early?

  16. We've sailed on Seaside in YC once, and are going again in April.  We've done suite class on X several times and loved it.  I'd say the food in YC isn't quite as good as Luminae, but there were some things we liked very much and we certainly never went hungry.  The YC pool and bar/grill area is wonderful, and you'll enjoy the YC lounge too.  As far as smoking goes, not a smoker, but there were definitely smoking areas on one side of the pool deck, the shaded area with tables.  There's also a smoking area outside at the front of the YC lounge.  Half of that seating area is for smokers.

    Enjoy your cruise!

We sail the Seaside April 4th out of Miami. I feel exactly the same way you do.  I'm going to Miami and if the ship doesn't sail, I'll drive to Key West for the week.

Oh, that's a good back-up plan.  My husband's never been to Key West.  We're sailing Seaside 4/18.  No plans to cancel.

  18. We're sailing on Seaside in April.  I know that internet isn't included now, but supposed to be included for sailings beginning in May.

After I made my final payment back in January, I actually read the fine print about what's included in our Yacht Club "Experience."  (page 5 of our email confirmation)

It says Premium Internet Package, up to 4GB, (depending on the length of your cruise.)  After reading that I called and spoke to a rep, who assured me that internet was included for us.  I know that speaking to a rep unfortunately doesn't mean anything with MSC, as you tend to get a different answer depending on who you speak to.  I canceled the package I purchased online.  Now I'm wondering if the depending on the length of your cruise is going to determine whether we get it or not.

Anyone know??  If it's 4GB complimentary, we won't bring all of our devices.  If it isn't, we'll purchase the 4 device package and bring laptop/iPad.  Prefer not to lug everything, but unfortunately I do have to check work email on vacation, and I prefer to do that on my Ipad.
