Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. It is actually a great question as the watch can absolutely access wifi independently of the phone. I was on the apex a few weeks ago, however I effectively always had my phone with me. A little googling suggests that captive portals are not supported so I assume the answer is no https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT209071 i would be been to see your experience - I also suggest a quick visit to the ilounge
  2. Of all the places in the world Australia / New Zealand are pretty removed from troubles - I would not let any Eastern Europe or Middle East conflicts concern you to much . as an Australian who was very privileged to sail on the Apex on the cruise to Israel /Egypt a day before this most awful war - I would say go for it life is way to short
  3. Have just finished our cruise on the Apex. Can confirm Canadians received visa stamps the same as I assume all others on the ship.
  4. I get the concern, we sailed in a SS last year on the beyond. We left a little confused as to the role of the butler - this time the onboard experience was very similar to last year, in fact enhanced in some areas - sure some of the fine details that we did not ask for may well be gone but it in no way affected us. We will rebook the reteat having said that I understand the concern
  5. It really is not that bad - after reading cc is was nervous on what the experience was going t be - really t has been great ymmv
  6. Yes, that was the issue - initially this option was not available - it was the $120 pp or nothing - after discussion with maître de sanity prevailed
  7. We are on the Apex in a SS . I absolutely agree the Butler situation is different (although in no way has it affected us) - overall though the service on the ship (in the retreat and elsewhere ) has been outstanding and the over all experience really positive - I was annoyed at the $120 pp wine charge at Eden but that was sorted for us but you need to give direct feedback (also possibly known as complaining ) overall for us a great experience, on par albeit different to the beyond this time last year i may just have low expectations
  8. We dined at Eden last night and had the tasting menu - the food was really good - it was nice to have smaller portions and most of the dishes . my frustration was the $120 pp matching wines requirement (especially as we have the premium drink package) we did resolve the issue and had a great night but it left slightly sour taste at the start of the meal. It puts the servers in an uncomfortable position is it only me ?
  9. Terry , nice positive and fair (from my perspective comment) we are on the apex now and I would say the same . We will still consider the retreat as s as option however it will now be one of many glad you had a good trip
  10. I am sure the head butler tried to contact us however we were having a afternoon nap and I did not call back, steward did not explain role however has done everything we have asked and yes I got coffees myself - I actually enjoy the process - I am frustrated with celebrity - I had wanted to come away and say it is not worth the price however we are having a truly awesome time and I can see myself spending the money again - bugger
  11. We are in board the Apex at the moment. For those that appreciated a semi dedicated Buttler then I get why you would be upset - that concept has gone away , however our state room attendant has been awesome and had done more for us than the butler we have had in the past, he actually executed on getting us a lounge for our deck (did say he needed to check for safety ) , decorated the room for our anniversary , great with laundry , emptied our fridge (did say no need to worry about beer and soft drinks) and has generally been great. I am very happy to leave him a generous tip (way more inclined than for our butler whose role I did not understand last year) I get the frustration of some and don’t love the changing of the conditions after purchase but for our needs on this cruise it has been great off to Cafe el Bachio to pick up the morning coffees myself . (Too soon? )
  12. Concur - we are on the apex at the moment - we have found the food in luminae to be great and service really good. With all of the doom and gloom prior I was a little concerned - there was no need
  13. From my understanding (assuming US,UK,AUS ) travellers - note Canadians MAY ?? be different for Egypt Again please do your own assessment and research - this is just what seems to be the consensus 1. a visa is NOT required for Turkey - that is clear from the Turkish visa website as visiting by sea for leas than 24 hours 2. a visa is NOT required for Israel. Clear from local country advice 3. a visa is probably not required for Egypt as it will be obtained on the ship. It has been unclear and a number of people (myself included ) have got a evisa although in all likelihood not required the Egypt evisa is relatively simple to obtain for $25 USD For Canadians the Egypt visa requirements are a little bit more complicated as the evisa will not be valid from 1 October and while some people are assuming that the onboard visa will suffice, I personally would be a bit nervous . There are a number of other threads discussing this I concur celebrity could do a lot better here
  14. It simply must be a booking engine bug - it simply does not make sense. Agreed you would never every pay it -
