  1. Ah didn’t realize it changed. I always thought it was original payment if before voyage, sailor loot if you cancel onboard, original payment if they cancel on you. We cancelled a cabana before our first voyage and the refund got royally screwed up. They were trying to say that our fare discount also applied to our $350 cabana, so we wouldn’t get the full amount back. After much back & forth we did indeed get the full amount back… that made me nervous to book/cancel any shore excursions before sailing since then!
  2. I was under the impression that you could only get a cc refund if you cancelled 24 hrs before the voyage, otherwise it came up as sailor loot. Have you cancelled/rebooked while onboard successfully?
  3. It’s called something different, but was still happening in January on valiant and December on scarlet. It’s a couple happenings cast members every sea day morning at the roundabout
  4. We also found that there was one type of lightbulb (the hallway area and the one right above the bed) that burned REALLY hot. If we tried to keep that light switch off most of the time and the curtains closed during the day, it was cooler when we went to bed. Obviously not a perfect solution, but a decent workaround until they replace those freaking things w led bulbs!!
  5. Quite the opposite. The only up charges are the spa, alcohol, a very very few premium food items, premium WiFi (which you only need if youre trying to work remotely or stream regularly), anything gambling related, shopping, and a select amount of onboard activities that involve alcohol (paint & sip, “grog walk” pub crawl, tequila class, cocktail class, food plating class that comes with free flowing bubbly, etc.) free activities include fitness classes, art scavenger hunt, trivia, a game show style thing, karaoke, puzzle contest, “mind benders” competition, and all entertainment. There are events in the shops that are essentially sales pitches. But they’re… in the shops… so they’re obv trying to get you to buy something when you’re there.
  6. I like the pork, rice & beans and rum cake at Bimini. They’ve never had a traditional BBQ- until late last summer/early fall, the had 2 menus (lunch and snack) with a short break between. The snack menu had ribs, but it wasn’t like a rack of ribs on a plate, it was one big rib. I tried them a couple times and they were kind of gross and rubbery. Wasn’t sad to see that go!
  7. someone either here, reddit, or 1 of the 75 VV FB groups i'm in reported that it came off everywhere, but i'm guessing that was just a glitch (or they complained and complained about how they were right until the charges disappeared 🙄) i'm mostly a rule-follower, especially when it comes to getting charged for stuff vs. not, so i'll stick to my goody goody ways and keep getting those grounds club coffees hahaha
  8. NSA seems to be ending on scarlet in a couple weeks, and valiant soon too. our 5-night 2/17 scarlet voyage currently only has ship show (4x) and duel reality (2x) on the lineup.
  9. i was on valiant with 800 earlier this month and scarlet with about the same number last summer and hated it. i've been on scarlet with 1,700+ and valiant with 2,200+ and it was so much better with more people on. they consolidate a lot of events and shows when there are so few passengers, so if you miss a show, too bad. i didn't notice this on the lower load scarlet voyage bc it was only 4 nights, but on an 8 night, the absence of stuff to do was noticeable.
  10. if you still see them the morning you disembark, go to sailor services. still fighting over a stupid $10 refund from last month... made sure all charges were clear before stepping foot of the ship on my jan voyage!
  11. i think the tarot thing is free (bookable but still first come first served). tea is $19 for just the tea/snacks or i think $35 for that + sparkling wine, but i don't think you have to book that part.
  12. yeah i think google did a big drop of old apps for old devices last week or the week before. sucks, but that's technology these days. just had to get a new ipad because my 10-year old one (still kicking!!!) wasn't able to update to the latest OS and couldn't support the apps i use anymore.
  13. the earliest anyone gets on the ship is 1:45 (officially 2:00, but they'll start boarding early if ready). i think you have to be onboard by 4, but i've never boarded past 2 haha
  14. Only if you open it at a restaurant. I know some lines slap a corkage on you for simply bringing it onboard, but not VV. They have corkscrews in the room, but you need to grab wine glasses from a bar if you want a proper glass (no charge!)
  15. The status match is the same for everyone. There’s a list on the VV site of what tiers they match from what lines. Major perks (only thru 3/31) are priority boarding (and therefore activity booking), $100 bar tab, free load of laundry, $10/day coffee credit, a cocktail party and free premium WiFi
  16. The $10 credit can be used for coffee/tea. It ultimately won’t use your bar tab. It may take a day or 2 for the charge to come off initially, but if it’s still there, just go to sailor services and ask them to remove
  17. they release a TON of reservations once you get onboard. worst case, you just try to walk into a restaurant
  18. i noticed the other day too, but you can fiiiiihiiihiiiinalllllyyy see the add-ons for voyages beyond your next one. click "manage booking" next to whatever voyage you want to see, then click the "my voyage tab" and then you can click the add ons thing and see what you've got. i was easily able to see that i'm missing $200 in loot from the 2nd leg of my B2B next month, so i'm going to get that fixed now instead of trying to deal with the mess that is shoreside-to-shipboard communications.
  19. i think that's a glitch in the way it's presented. the book early and save + the most inclusive offer amounts (plain old sales that are applicable to that voyage) sum to the 1569.74 - i think it's supposed to be a total discount line. not sure if the access key is actually doing anything.
  20. it's weird though because the one i went to was run by one of the fitness instructors.. makes no sense for them to be selling this kind of stuff!!
  21. this is the website for scarlet- follow this link. if you just use the spark part, you'll get nowhere: https://spark-aws.virginvoyages.com/api/v1/ext/ddp/5a3193a0af8e4c3fb714386b/2023-01-29#events
  22. nutrition and exercise workshop - never been, but i'd expect a commercial. rice rice baby is a leftover from their november food & drink month that has stuck around. there is an upcharge- maybe $25? can't remember from the schedule and haven't done it. i believe they teach you to make sushi, but you can't eat it because of food safety/handling rules. i also think that one comes with sparkling wine. most charged events around the ship have freeflowing bubbles, including a paint and sip, shot for shot cocktail/photography class, plate snap eat food presentation/photography class, 50 shades of play class with dr a, and a few others that are escaping me right now. they're usually between $25-$35/pp. i have yet to see the couples massage workshop actually end up happening on 10 voyages to-date. it's supposedly a workshop that teaches you how to massage your partner.
  23. forgot to add, but that website also has more information about what most of the events are if you click on them.
