  1. A few weeks ago, my account froze while I was booking excursions…I got a white screen saying payment pending but it never went away. I lost some excursions before I figured out to call Viking for help! The agent booked them for me but some excursions had sold out. My tip…if account freezes, call or do the chat immediately! By the way, my account is STILL frozen, and technical support is “working on it.” I have escalated to Tellus email, and I continue to call and check on openings. I also have private excursions booked for some ports. It will be a good cruise, I won’t let technology ruin it for us!
  2. And they are replayed on your TV. I wish they were given 2 days prior to the port so you could change excursions before the 48 hour window, but it’s usually the day/evening before docking. It is very informative, especially if you want details about difficulty and walking time.
  3. July 2023 prices, I expect that they are $20+ more for 2024. Akureyri Northern Iceland Natural Treasures $199 Viking (We used Saga tours, small van, around $140 I think) Golden circle $229 Viking ( We used Your day tours, small van, same route, $88).
  4. On our last cruise with Viking, we had purchased our own air. A few days before the end of the cruise, Viking left a paper in our cabin so we could purchase a transfer. We wanted the latest time, which was 9:30am. On the transfer request form, this email is listed. Try asking them. optional.transfers@vikingcruises.com
  5. From my experience, if you are doing an independent shore tour, the company is aware of the back on board time. I confirm with them after checking at the gangway sign. Keep in mind that the times on your invoice are not set in stone.
  6. I changed an onboard booked cruise to another itinerary and date. I lost nothing, so I guess it depends on the timing of the change.
  7. “Were any excursions you wanted sold out already?” I managed to get all of my preferred excursions except one. They have an alert in my booking if availability opens up. I’ll continue to check daily. In any case, my cruise will be great! British Isles Explorer May1.
  8. The technical support team is supposed to call me when the account problem is resolved. Until then I’m just calling as I make a few excursion changes.
  9. Kc, I did not log in on two devices, but I had a major payment issue! I couldn’t get past the checkout screen, which displayed a message about payment pending, wait 5 minutes for screen to refresh. I waited, and waited, and nothing happened. I tried another computer, iPad, phone, E check, two different credit cards, log in, log out, clear cache, changed browser etc…. Nothing worked. I called Viking, and the agent processed the Echeck payment for me. I should have called sooner as I lost some excursions in the 90 minute process. Viking said they’ve had a few other cases like this. The problem persists, and I have an IT ticket pending. I also emailed tellus, hoping someone will call me about this mess. Anyway, moral of the story is if payments don’t go through, call to book via a Viking agent right away!
  10. I saw on another website that someone said no petting on the included excursion.
  11. Vasa museum Stockholm, we also liked the paid Berlin tour.
  12. For motion sickness, talk to your doctor. What works for me (patch) might not be best for you. Evening dress is smart casual for all venues except World Cafe. This thread will help. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2921194-typical-dress-code/
  13. I’ve done this but I’ve used two laptops at the same time. By the time you log in and out of one account and then go to the other, some prized excursions might be gone. This is particularly true if you’re DV or V.
  14. Unfortunately, no, the CC you entered for onboard expenses cannot be automatically used when purchasing excursions. You have to enter the CC details as you pay for your cart.
  15. Cancelling an excursion and rebooking is easy on MVJ. Simply click on the reservation you want to cancel, (either from the calendar page or excursions page,) and click Cancel reservation. Then immediately book the one you want by putting it in your cart and paying just as you originally did. I’ve also done this over the phone, but most recently, the phone agent directed me to DIY. Constantly check for availability of your preferred excursion. You can sometimes find an opening onboard with guest services. Don’t give up!
  16. “Three, we both logged in on 2 computers - you log into the same, one MVJ account and you can both book at the same time.” Interesting, as I tried this in the past and couldn’t log in to the same account on two devices. Will try this next week, thanks.
  17. I’m following this thread as we have BIE in May. I clicked the underlined links abore and found the tour operators. Invergordon was with Avril’s Travels. Thanks to those sharing information!
  18. And….. sometimes the MVJ published times or ticket times are changed slightly. Detailed meeting place and times are in the Viking Daily which you get after dinner. Ask at the guest services desk if you have a tight time between excursions. I missed a second tour due to traffic and a slow bus, Viking refunded the fee. Tours can also be cancelled by you 48 hours prior to start time.
  19. If you end in Bergen, the starboard side is closer to land most of the time, but it does vary. Look at the map of your cruise, and decide for yourself which side you’d prefer. We always went up to Explorers's Lounge for views while sailing. Good views are also from the terrace on deck 7, aft.
  20. The scheduled arrival and departure times are on your invoice, a few pages in. If you don’t have the invoice you can request another via MVJ. Click the 3 bars on top left, scroll down to Account and select request invoice. ( I’ve heard this might not work if you use a TA. In that case, have them request the invoice.)
  21. Thanks Caroline, your details will help others decide if these excursions work for them. Even though we have no mobility issues, I did find the toilets “challenging” all over Greece! And in some places, we paid for the WC adventure!
  22. Unfortunately, these glitches are why those of use that reserve later find no availability. I’ve only been able to get reservations onboard, and it takes a bit of effort to get the times I want.
  23. That was the time for me in November, but I’d certainly check before just in case! It opened about 3 hours early for me last July.
  24. Redtravel, I’ve always been able to book a future cruise (with another cruise on the books) by calling my preferred Viking agent. Good luck booking your 2025 cruise.
