  1. The $10/day plan was the easiest for me and Mom when she was around and needed care. Once the plan activated for the day, unlimited calls were no extra charge so I checked in often that day. ATT had a $100 limit for the month, not bad for assurance that Mom was ok.
  2. No experience with this particular extension, however I’ve always been able to get my desired extension with diligent checking. You are almost two years out, many people will change their plans. I agree to keep checking on the “price and build” function, but I’ve had best results with calls to my favorite Viking agent. She said sometimes extensions as well as cabin availability doesn’t show up online. Good luck, and keep checking!
  3. Friends were just in 3040 and beds faced aft. I assume it alternates so you might face forward. ( we did in 3038)
  4. We are considering BIE for 2023. Does anyone have the previous port time schedule for Bergen to London? Do you have a favorite month to visit with moderate temperatures? Thanks.
  5. We had a dining reservation issue for two couples, and the helpful Chat agent took care of it for us. She reserved Manfredi’s on a night other than our original request, but it’s ok! You might give that a try. I do know that sometimes the Chat box doesn’t always come up, but I’ve had great results with them when I can access it. Good luck.
  6. We will be in the Radisson Blu in a few weeks. I’ve researched, and yes, it does have AC.
  7. Let Me Travel…..”we are really old” ????? Anything in the 60’s is young for me!!! And yes, we still can run in our seventies, but we will practice a bit more! Sorry for the trouble you had!
  8. Thank you, I figured the power block was a no. FYI, Pontac, the prohibited items list is buried deep in MVJ. It’s under Before you go…information for your cruise…packing suggestions. ( yes I read and click every link!)
  9. I have a power strip question, does Viking allow them? On the list of prohibited items, it states no extension cords, so that’s confusing. Hubby has a small rectangular 4 outlet power strip he likes. Thanks.
  10. We had a delay 3 years ago, and one of us worked with the airline and the other was on the phone with Viking. Whoever got a new flight first was the winner! ( It was Viking.) I’d still try both options if you have a problem. I always have the airline app on my phone, and join the loyalty/miles program as that usually gets me a special phone number to call. Hope for the best! Our layover at JFK for our Homelands cruise is 5 hours….I picked that flight on purpose!!
  11. I watched several stateroom Yutube videos, and I saw 5 USB on desk lamp in addition to above mentioned outlets. We take adapters for pre and post hotel stays, and airport charging. We might also need a boost camera charge while in port. (I do carry portable chargers in my pack.)
  12. On our last two river cruises, we had the opportunity to purchase a $200 future cruise voucher for $100. We could each purchase 2 I believe. The voucher is fully transferable, with no time limit for use. I think there are some onboard credit perks if you book an ocean cruise while onboard, we will find out in August.
  13. We called Viking Air Plus and got ticketed 110 days out. I was told it was too soon, but I persisted. The reason given for NOT ticketing early is due to flight changes. If the airline makes a change we don’t like, there is a change fee if we’re ticketed. I think they want flexibility of adjusting flights as airline changes are the norm. I said we like the flights, and wanted to upgrade seats online so I need it ticketed. They complied, with the warning if we change our minds, we’d need to pay a change fee. I know the airlines often change flights, but it was a chance we were willing to take, as that change won’t cost us anything but time. So far so good…..and we will live with any time changes by Delta. A very long layover at JFK is our buffer!
  14. I received early ticketing this May, and I paid no fee other than our previously paid Air Plus.
  15. Check the actual flight date, and if it’s not on Day5, call Viking air. This is an obvious error that can be corrected.
  16. No experience with the train, but we did a fly and drive trip to Banff and multiple Canadian parks in July 2019. Most days the high was 50-60F with freezing cold starts. We packed layers and a puffy jacket as well as rain jackets and pants. We’re hikers so we wanted to be out regardless of the temps. A few days were ok in short shirt sleeves. My rule for any mountain trip is to be prepared for a range of temperatures. Thin layers that can go on and off throughout the day for the win! (Same advice for the Alaska cruise.)
  17. In 3 cruises with Viking, I always pay for Viking Air when booking, using whatever economy promotional rate is available. It’s ranged from free to $799, cheaper than on my own. I then add Air Plus for the deviation perk, as my sister lives in Italy. I call Air Plus about 8-9 months out with my preferred flight options, as they often can’t be seen on the airline websites sooner. I’ve always received good service, and I get the flights I like. ( I fly to the embarkation city, and fly home from Italy, with a personally booked one way flight or train to get to my sister.) I then log in to the actual airline websites and monitor seats and upgrade prices. When I’m ready to upgrade, I call Air Plus and convince them to ticket the flight. I select upgrades and seats on the airline App, and again monitor it for any changes. (Upcoming trip…6 time changes so far by the airline, but I had a long layover as a buffer.) Good experiences every time.
  18. FYI, we were due to book excursions today, June3, and according to Viking it would open at 12noon PST. (Aug9 Homelands). However, I saw on multiple Viking chat sites, including CC, that it might open at midnightPST. I checked last night before bed, not ready. But when I woke around 1am EDT, and logged back in, I saw the excursions open. I booked a few that we really wanted then finished up this morning. Tip, if you use an already saved e-check account, the booking is faster, and 3.3% less. I couldn’t get MVJ to save my credit card. So…. Check often before your actual booking day! Hope it works for you.
  19. Do you have Viking Air Plus? That is needed in order to get a one day deviation, and choose your specific flights. I agree to check flights for yourself, it could be the small airport issue as stated. Good luck.
