  1. I’ve been able to get a recent pdf for my cruises by using the Chat function on MVJ.
  2. Last year, well before 120 days out, we changed one Mediterranean itinerary for a different one, and the insurance transferred, with a price adjustment. We did not “cancel” the first cruise. I’m not sure how it worked but it did. You or your TA can ask the Viking agent who booked the Nile cruise for you and see what can be done. (Name and phone are on your invoice.) Good Luck.
  3. We are booked for mid October this year, 2023. My brother cruised Athens to Venice on another line last July, and temperatures were around 100 degrees in many places. We also live in Florida, but he was miserable. The heat was stagnant and he said there was no shade or breeze around the many ruins. My sister teaches in Italy, and she said she won’t work in the summer due to the heat.
  4. Correction to post #3…We’ve sent our bags “FROM” the hotel to ship, and found them in our room after boarding much later.
  5. We’ve sent bags to the hotel twice, and stayed in port. We needed to arrange our own transfer to the ship…Hop on boat worked great in Stockholm. I’d wait to ask the Viking hosts at the hotel for options, landside staff has told me no for several situations and the on site hosts then said Yes! From our experience, the bus transfer occurs around check out time, 11am.
  6. For my previous cruises, I request an excursion PDF using the chat function on MVJ. They will send you a document from a current cruise, so the dates and details won’t match your trip. It will help you plan. Heads up, once the chat agent didn’t know what I wanted, so I signed off and tried again…..success. Sounds like you have a fabulous trip planned!
  7. Use the Chat function on MVJ. Ask for a recent PDF of excursions for your cruise, not date specific. They will send one via email, the dates won’t be for your trip but it will give you an idea of times and prices. Once I had to end the chat and try again as agent 1 said she couldn’t do that. However, I’ve gotten a list for 5 cruises that way!
  8. It should be in the final documents email PDF’s that you get a week or two before sailing. Lots of pages to read, but do look over it all.
  9. A few years ago, we had an air issue with delayed flight….upcoming connection would be missed. I took care of it with Delta at the airport, then called Air plus and the emergency number to report it. They already had the update from Delta, and arranged private transfer upon our later arrival. Air plus said it was good that I worked with Delta immediately as there weren’t many options left.
  10. On your invoice, a Viking agent is listed. I’d contact that person by phone since they helped you before. If you have a TA, they can help with the upgrade. Yes, it is easy if a cabin is available!
  11. You can request ticketing about 120 days out. You might have to be persistent. We always do that so we can select upgrade seats via the airline app if offered.
  12. We’ve been next to elevators on deck 3 and 4. We’ve never had a noise problem, in fact we never saw a crowd waiting for the elevators either. The elevators are very quiet. We have 2 upcoming cruise cabins near elevators.
  13. Cruiseworks.. “We were surprised to find there are no seat assignments for two of our three flights to get to Prague and every time I contact Viking I get different information. Now it appears we are not able to get seat selection until 23 hours prior to departure” Are your flights ticketed? If so, I’ve always been able to get seats directly with the airline. I use the App but my friend calls the airline. If not ticketed yet, Ask (insist) that VA ticket your flights now. They will tell you that ticketing means any changes you request will have a hefty fee.
  14. What are they up to? I believe VA is trying to cut back on the many phone requests for changes. Guests can look at options and do it themselves. However, we use Air Plus often for same reasons as CDN. We also book our own flights sometimes. Even with Air Plus, we have seen other options for flights on MVJ. They include a price adjustment PP……and the options and prices change often due to the airlines fluid pricing. My brother changed a flight easily on MVJ.
  15. Referral credits were explained to me this way by my Viking agent. I have previously sailed with Viking, or I have cruise booked, not necessarily paid in full. My friend will need to mention my name as they book a Viking cruise for the first time in order to get the referral credit. The policy states that the friend needs my guest number, but I don’t even know where to find that, and have never needed it for referral credits in practice. Here’s the policy from Viking. There is a PDF here too. https://www.vikingcruises.com/about-us/referral-rewards.html?gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwyeujBhA5EiwA5WD7_YMcygJjsrYlk00ZG7qCIml1VtAGcUhJC10eaSVsALja0ust9BQ3WhoCmcsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  16. When we booked onboard last summer, the only transfer option was to a TA, not an agent working for Viking. I will certainly ask about transferring if we decide to book with the onboard consultant in the future…we really like our Viking local agent!
  17. All is well here in FL, logged on multiple times today, quickly. Good luck.
  18. There is a button on MVJ to invite guests for dining. You can input your friends booking number and name, and “sometimes” you will be able to book a table for all. I say “sometimes”, as I’ve not been able to do that for our upcoming Iceland cruise. The button is grayed out, Via a chat, I was told that pre cruise bookings are full for now. But they will have availability to book onboard. From our experience last year, we easily got Manfredi’s reservations by walking up to the host stand or reservation desk in guest services. We aren’t Chef’s Table folks, but you can wait to see the menus onboard before booking if the menu is important.
  19. I would speak with the Shore Excursion desk as soon as you board.
  20. Peregrina, last week I asked for the shorex via the chat on MVJ. I got the PDF within minutes. I asked for any sailing this May. Sorry, I’m not good with posting them to this site. By the way, the first agent I asked didn’t know how to send them, so I signed off, and the next person knew right away what I wanted. In 3 years of sailing VO, I’ve always been able to get this via chat.
  21. Without WiFi, you will need to use cellular data. Check the email final documents you received a few weeks ago. There was a PDF of all excursions with times and details on mine last year. I saved the pdf file so I didn’t need data to access it. Good luck.
  22. We had a few changes last year, and were told it was due to adjusted port arrival and departure times. Since MVJ is not available a week or two prior to cruising, there was no way for us to see last minute changes until onboard. Understandable, but I agree, frustrating to have to rearrange excursions and activities.

    OBC

I’m not an OBC expert, but I do know there are some credits that can only be used onboard, and other monies can be used to pre-purchase excursions, gratuities, etc. You need to know what type of OBC you have. My invoice notes that my current OBC can be used prior to sailing, and it will be applied to excursions, tips etc as I book them. (Look at the pre purchased items PDF on your invoice email.) In the past, I have received OBC that could only be used onboard the ship, so I never pay for gratuities in advance so I can use those credit as we sail.
  24. On our last cruise, I spoke with a women with lost luggage. Viking spent days tracking it in the luggage chaos of last summer. She was able to “shop” the Viking clothes closet, stocked with items left by previous passengers. She was well attired for 14 days! She was also given complimentary express laundry service. Her bag was delivered on the last day of the cruise! She then returned her borrowed items to the closet. Kudos to Viking for having clothing available for guests!
  25. This worked for us in Stockholm, maybe your situation will be similar. We spoke with Viking hotel hosts and told them we were planning a small boat cruise prior to boarding the ship and would miss the bus transfer. They told us what to do with the bags so Viking could get them to the ship. We handed them off to the bell staff, and they ended up in our cabin! It might vary by hotel and cruise port rules. We took our independent Archipelago cruise, and upon advice of the Viking host, we booked the Hop On boat tour afterwards which deposited us at the dock. Easy! We ended the Homelands cruise with two nights in Bergen. Bergen’s port is close to the area where the boat tours depart. Ask the Viking hotel host for transportation suggestions to the ship. By the way, we stayed at the Scandic Norge and it was a short walk to the waterfront, Bryggen and the Fish market. We also took the 3 hour fjord cruise (Bergen to Mostraumen) and it was fabulous!!! ( We used Rodne.no) Enjoy your trip! We’re on May 1 BIE 2024.
