Thanks for the quick reply. They'll let me cancel the DSF and other add-ons prior to actually cancelling?
That should be no problem. At the worst it could take two phone calls, one to cancel the add-ons, then one to cancel the cruise itself.

If you take the FCC now and have paid out extra expenses like upgraded WIFI, shore excursions, DSF, etc., do you get any of that refunded if you cancel?
I cancelled a cruise with POM back in September. I asked the agent the same question and was told the FCC would be for the total amount, including excursions. So, I told her to first cancel all my excursions and then issue my FCC.
The monies I paid for excursions were refunded back to my credit card and I got a FCC for the remainder.

Since the latest news from cruise critic that NCL is giving FCC for cancelling cruises for sailings through May I think? We are scheduled for January 9th, Bliss, on the fence right now?? No cash back, have to cancel airfare, we are fully vaxed, boosted, my major concern is getting quarantined in a less desirable room than we have, the Haven, due to being within 6 feet of someone that some how tests positive once onboard. Anyway, what are you all going to do in the next 2 months?
I, too, have a Jan. 9th cruise. I am 90% sure I will cancel. With 1000s of flights being canceled every day, that adds a whole other level of drama to the trip. I may wait a few days in the hope that cruises will be paused (cancelled) for a short time.
Making the decision became easier when I asked myself one question: "What could go wrong?"

Travel companies make money solely because people travel. If people stop traveling, they stop making money.
If they don't stop pissing off their readers, they'll just go elsewhere to a more robust site where they can actually message each other...and not get censored for being honest.
Maybe like BaceFook?

They are in the business of making money.
What does that have to do with anything?!
Although it explains why both of their websites are so crappy.

It’s like waiting to open up a present on Christmas Day.
Except, it's a present you paid for.

CC exists outside of our normal reality
So much for being Cruise Critical. Maybe they should change the name to Cruise Cheerleaders.

Usually the planning process leading up to our cruise is half the fun.
That fun is non-existent, replaced by anxiety. Still planning, but stressed about unpredictability.

I don’t want to be locked in my cabin for a week because I sat next to the wrong person in a restaurant.
This is the final straw in my stressful vacation-planning, following covid testing & airline cancellations.
I'll be calling to cancel tomorrow. 😡

How does NCL track who you have been in close contact with? Keycard?
Probably facial recognition. Must be tough with masks.
-
How likely is that to happen if passengers are only being tested prior tp boarding? Is it because some ports require testing mid-cruise?
-
Thanks everyone. I've booked a 1:00 pm flight!
-
I'm booked on the Bliss, returning at 7:00 am on Sunday, Jan. 16 and I've got a 1:00 pm domestic flight out of LAX.
If I book a transfer to the airport with NCL, does that get me any kind of priority disembarkation?
When I was on the Gem in October, it seemed like forever to get off the ship when I walked off with my luggage.
Thanks.
-
My cruise ship is scheduled to arrive at 7 am on Sunday, Jan. 16.
Is it realistic to book a 1 p.m. domestic flight home from LAX?
Thanks.

Sorry for sounding like a total noob, but what is AON?
Aon Infinity is NCL's insurance partner.

Our final is due January 12 and I think we’ll cancel,
That sounds smart. I wish I could. My cruise is Jan.9.
I expected a New Year's surge, but Omicron is a whole other problem.

What is your budget for a hotel, who is traveling and which hotels in Redondo Beach are you looking at?
I just booked a 2-night stay at Hampton Inn in Hermosa Beach for around $400 total.

We have done 3 cruises since the restart of cruising.
I did one in October, on NCL with no masks! Those days are over...for now.

How many cancellations today, or will?

I agree, especially for us triple-vaxxed folks.
The biggest issue is not Omicron, but the reaction (or overreaction) to Omicron. I don't want to get quarantined because i sat next to someone who has a stuffy nose.
