  1. When do we receive the email with our final documents. I can’t remember. Our cruise is 2 weeks from today. thx
  2. Thanks for that. I didn’t realize. We locked in with $25 and don’t pay balance til January. Have read everyone’s responses and will need to decide by Wednesday.
  3. We did this cruise last august. Embarkation was very smooth. The warehouse was big and they had many people to check us in. It was easy and timely.
  4. Looking for advice about travel insurance. We have a Viking cruise booked for Fall2024. Need to make a decision this week if we want pre-existing conditions covered. The insurance seems to have gotten more expensive. I think if we had to cancel, the insurance cost is not refunded since it’s not through Viking. We can always choose to purchase it later and not have pre-existing covered. Curious for thoughts on this.
  5. No problem! I felt the same way before we went last year. We really enjoyed this extension. We also were lucky to see Denali from Anchorage and along the train ride. We were very lucky, in that respect. I hope you are also! The down side for us was that we all had to be COVID tested before we could get on the ship. Seven people from our bus had to leave us in Anchorage and not continue to the ship because they tested positive. Be thankful you don’t have to deal with that. Luckily we were ok.
  6. Don’t worry! I also read poor reviews. It is basic but it’s at a national park. It was clean. Some rooms faced the river and some faced the parking lot. We faced the parking lot but it was ok. The lodge where you eat breakfast was very good! They had delicious fresh fruit and the coffee was great. I am gluten free and they gave me gluten free bread to toast. One night we got drinks and sat outside looking at the river. I was very skeptical but it was fine. The hotel Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge was great. Rooms were very nice. We ate outside on the deck off the restaurant and it was wonderful. We had great weather. Their breakfast was just so so. The train ride up to Denali from Anchorage was wonderful. The breakfast and lunch was delicious. We had several beautiful views of Denali. The train would slow down for pictures. Anchorage was ok. We ate at the same place a few times. I think it was a brew house. The bush pilot excursion was really interesting. We really enjoyed this extension. We met some very nice people on this extension. There were 2 buses. It was nice seeing them later on the ship.
  7. Thank you! Good point about the facial.
  8. Going on my third cruise. Found that spa time is very limited in scheduling once on the ship. Plan to schedule something ahead this time. Any recommendations? Not sure if I want to do a facial or massage. I have no experience with either. Thank you!
  9. Thank you…..it isn’t cheap. We will stick to the included excursion of Karlskrona. Kristanopel is $119. Thank you
  10. Has anyone done the optional excursion- Traditional Village of Kristianopel - on the Scenic Scandinavia cruise?
  11. We did it as a post extension through Viking. There were I think 3 groups of us and it was random which car we sat in but they were all the same. We sat on the right side heading to Oslo and I think we had the better scenery. The train had a cafe where you could purchase food and coffee. I think we had a voucher for coffee.
  12. Thank you! Berlin sounds like a long day but full of historical sites.
  13. Thank you! Your posts were very helpful. I’m wondering how strenuous the bike ride was?
  14. There is a train station around the corner from the hotel. One of the Viking ladies recommended the restaurant to us……Fjola Central Station Oslo. We liked the atmosphere and the food. I had the fish soup and it was very good. We ate there twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. It looked like they also had outdoor seating but it was too cold when we were there in late September. There are other restaurants in the building. The hotel was very nice and had an amazing breakfast buffet.
  15. We are doing this cruise in June……Copenhagen to Sweden. Several stops have options to do a biking excursion. I’m looking for information from anyone that has done one. Two of them are: Mariehamm, Alan’s Islands - Alan’s islands by bike Visby, Sweden - Biking around Visby Also, Berlin looks like a long day but interesting. Any recommendations? Any information for this cruise would be appreciated!
  16. I went on this cruise in September. The highlights of London I was looking forward to when booking (2019) was no longer available. We did a 4 hour tour of London with “Tours by Locals” - Nicholas was our guide. He was amazing. It was limited because the queen had died and there was a procession that day, Belfast - Coastal ride and Glens of Antrum was amazing. We had a beautiful day and the scenery was exactly how I pictured Ireland. It was wonderful. It was not an included tour. We did the included tour At Orkney islands. I had no idea how interesting it would be Another highlight of the cruise. The stone structures were wonderful. We boarded in Greenwich to start. When we sailed the first night we headed to Dover. I just happened to wake up early due to jet lag and saw the cliffs of Dover in the distance. I ordered room service and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery as we got closer. This was something I really want to see and would have been disappointed if I missed it. This was about 6:30 am. Bergen was very pretty. We took the train to Oslo. It was very scenic even though it was cloudy. Oslo was beautiful. We did the included tour. The hotel was in a great location. We ate several times at a restaurant around the corner. Great city to walk in. The people there were so nice and everyone seemed happy.
  17. Definitely book as soon as you can!
  18. We just did the Alaskan cruise and inside passage. I tried to get a manicure appointment and there was only one at 8am and I couldn’t do it because of an excursion we had. The spa was totally booked.
  19. It’s on page one of the final e-documents.
  20. Will be leaving next week on BIE. My 98 year old mother lives nearby in assisted living. I’m wondering how easy it is to be reached on this cruise. We just came back early August from the Viking Alaska cruise. We had limited and spotty access. I’m hoping it was because we were so remote. If you’ve been on the BIE could you let me know what your experience was? We had no issues on a previous river cruise in Europe but I’m wondering if there can be issues in the English Channel and the North Sea. I’ll be sure to leave the ship contact info. Thanks!
  21. Has anyone completed this cruise? Did you like it?
  22. Thank you. I’ll do that.
