  1. We will be on a 2-week cruise next month and we plan to bring all the clothes we will need (ie we do not plan to wash any clothes on the cruise). I prefer to hang clothes as it is easier for me to see what I have. Normally there is barely enough hangers even for a 7-day cruise (yes, I like to have options, lol). If requested, does Carnival provide extra hangers?
  2. Wow... all this commentary over lil ole Wilmington neighborhood. LOL. I think the original poster got the answer he was seeking.
  3. Embarkation lunch with visitors. I have not seen that in a bit, but maybe it is just the cruises I have been post initial pandemic.
  4. If you do not mind a little Uber drive to the LA port and don’t mind spending the coins, I would say Terranea. It’s in Rancho Palos Verdes. There is a trail along the edge of the cliff that overlooks the ocean (open to public) that makes for a very nice morning walk.
  5. You could tour the USS Iowa battleship that is nearby, if you are into that type of thing. I visited it a few times and have enjoyed it. Or maybe Uber to airport to drop off luggage and then Uber to the Strand, Venice or Santa Monica.
  6. Sorry your post is getting a bit off topic, but I am curious about the upcoming dry dock as it is scheduled for a month (October 16th - November 16th), which I believe is a bit longer than the typical dry dock. I think I will be on the 2nd sailing post the dry dock. Not sure if they need all that time for repairs/maintenance or if the ship needs to be transported somewhere for repairs/maintenance and thus accounting for the longer dry dock timeline. A month is a long time to be without revenue, particularly post the high of the pandemic.
  7. I when I booked the classes, it was under specialty dining I believe.
  8. For the person who is really into cooking, I would not advise taking the courses. This is a mass cruise company that is marketing to the “masses”. Thus the classes need to be instructed for the masses to participate with some ease. Personally, I definitely fit within the masses in terms of cooking (I cook nearly everyday but nothing fancy; just to get something edible in our tummies). I took 3 of the cooking classes in August on the Panorama and enjoyed them as did my family members. However, based on the cost, we were not expecting some elaborate teachings too. My favorite was the sushi making class as that is something that I would never make at home (I live in LA and get that very cheaply on the corner down the street).
  9. The popular ones fill up fast as there is limited space. I would sign up for the ones you want to attend asap. We enjoyed several between different family members. Best for us was the sushi one as this is something we would never do at home.
  10. It was slightly delayed on August 13th... I do know some folks that missed their flights. Fortunately I live in Los Angeles, so it was no issue for us.
  11. This is a crazy topic IMO as I am not sure why it needs to be debated. People can get Covid anywhere and each person can choose not to cruise if they are that concerned. No one is forcing anyone to go on a vacation.
  12. I have a bunch of family that will be on this cruise. It should be lively with them there, lol. Luckily, they only have a 30 minute drive to get to the Port. Cheers!
  13. I am not expecting any in-depth learning from these classes given the low cost. Basic run of the mill cooking classes range between $125-$200 where I live. I just want to spend some quality time with my family, with no technological interruptions, lol!
  14. I should have noted we will be on the Panorama. We are currently signed up for the sushi class as a family. Also me and son for pie making class. Then my husband for bbq/pit class. I think me and my son are signed up for one more, but cannot remember which one. However I saw some mention the tailgating one. Maybe I will change one of them to that one.
  15. For those who have done a few of the classes, which ones did you like? We are signed up for a few for an upcoming cruise, but not sure if any are truly interesting. The best thing about it for me is that it is an activity with limited amounts of people (plus something I can do with family and if pre-booked, I know we have a spot!). TIA.
