  1. Yep. It varies. Overall, it seems like the Encore almost always goes to Glacier Bay while the Bliss is more of a mixture.
  2. Yeah, me too. Much as we would like to give you "credit," my guess is that it was the idea of some bean counter in accounting who doesn't understand how folks enjoy a cruise.
  3. We have, but I don't recommend it. We took that brewery tour, which was all indoors. It was fun and basically all you can drink free samples. Unfortunately, it didn't get us back on the ship until about 11:00 pm, which was too late for my tastes. This April, we just stayed on the ship in Victoria both times.
  4. That's a feature, not a glitch. 🤣 But seriously, we've spent so much time in those shops at AK ports that I actually hope they are all closed (they aren't). Weather sensitive SHOREX are certainly a chance of cancellation. For somebody taking a once in a lifetime AK cruise, they should probably plan around that. I've been to AK six times and have another coming up very soon. I have no issues with being "stuck" on the ship while in one or more ports.
  5. Yep. When I heard the early reports, I refused to believe them, thinking "even NCL couldn't be this stupid." Well, I guess I was wrong.
  6. So, no mention of the "streamlined" observation lounge?🤣
  7. I've sailed AK on the first sailing of the season (in April) the last (late October) and four times in between. AK is always beautiful and I enjoy it every time. Sure, some SHOREX require warmer, dry days, so that's when we do those. The train in Skagway would be great regardless of the weather. "Bad" weather is a relative term. I live in the desert, so "bad" is sunny and hot. Overcast and rainy? I love it. Snow? Even better! We were on the Encore in October of 21, and we had snow in Glacier bay. Beautiful! This April we took the bus to the Yukon border and had snow for the last half of the trip there. Fantastic scenery!
  8. Exhibit A. I told you folks that the chandelier caused people's heads to explode. I can't wait to enjoy it again. It is now something to look forward to.
  9. Are you new here? Oh wait, it looks like you are. 🤣 You'll learn grasshopper. The Encore chandelier is an abomination that is not to be endured. It has absolutely ruined many a cruise for the fragile among us. BTW: welcome to Cruise Critic!
  10. If you're traveling all the way from Ireland, I will strongly recommend a B2B. Ain't nothin' finer than a B2B. disclaimer: yes, I realize that a B2B2B is finer, but that's another discussion
  11. It's a crap shoot. You know that the show will be good at Tepanyaki. The steak has always been crappy, so I've settled on shrimp and chicken. The rice will never taste like Benihanas, but it's basically all you can eat (which isn't much for me). I've had great steaks and crap at Cagney's. Los Lobos is very popular here, and I can't remember a bad experience. Food republic is a great stretch for people who aren't solo (which you are). At the end of the day, just throw a dart. I would do Los Lobos and Cagney's and hope for the best. It's just food and there's a lot more on the ship.
  12. She generally spends the summers in Alaska. April to October. We were on her first two Alaska sailings this year and may do the same next year. I need to check if my buddy @graphicguycan make it again. 😎
  13. Right. Who clips their toenails on a cruise? Do they actually pack clippers? I clip 'em beforehand and just chill. 😎
  14. Ahem. Yes, that was the joke. Did you miss the quotes?
  15. Excellent question! It comes down to deck 17: Bliss: Encore: One of those is a lot more fun for me and attracts a lot less kids. Of course, many (not me) detest the chandelier on the Encore as it gives them instant sea sickness, nausea for days and expensive medical bills. That endears it to me! 😎 Also, the Bliss had fantastic entertainment (other than Six @YVRteacher) on my April B2B. That is, of course, fluid. Encore gave us Alexa in 2020. You can't really top that. So yeah.... Wait, what was the question again? They are both fantastic ships and I would sail on either one in a heartbeat.
