  1. A fellow passenger on the FB roll call spoke with someone at NCL who confirmed a pool party in the infinity pool on deck 16, would that be the Haven? At this point, the Fetetopia group has parties planned for all pools.
  2. I did the same, please keep us posted. I also messaged cruise director Simon on Instagram, a long shot but you never know...
  3. According to another passenger on that other social media website, the Soca group has a pool party planned for the Haven infinity pool. How is this not a full-ship takeover?
  4. If this was a group of real estate agents, or quilters, or crossword puzzlers, I would not be changing plans. Unless you've seen the YouTube videos of Soca cruises, it's difficult to envision the scale here.
  5. I am leaning towards paying the $2400 to switch to the Pearl. A huge part of our family cruise is giving my 15yo the freedom to roam. I am not comfortable giving him that freedom with the Soca takeover. From the YouTube videos I've seen, the drug use is going to be prevalent at the pool parties. I know this is very "f your feelings" but I do feel like I'm being punished for wanting to avoid a situation that is not family friendly. I still can't believe any one group has the power to change the atmosphere of a cruise so substantially. It just feels extremely unfair. I'm not a pearl clutcher. Please look at the YouTube videos of "Uber Soca Cruise."
  6. Yes everyone questioning this, please please look at Soca cruises on YouTube. I know that my family will be very unhappy in this environment - and we have no recourse at all. I have no idea what we should do.
  7. It definitely seems like it will be a headache either way. Either suffer through the parties/vaping/takeover and hope to complain on board??? Or pay the $2400 penalty to switch ships. Ideally we wouldn't have to pay to switch and downgrade from the Prima to the Pearl. I wish I could find some more information about how to switch without a penalty.
  8. Based on the proximity of Vibe to the pool deck, and the volume & duration of the Soca music, I'd assume it will be heard in Vibe. Additionally, if Fetetopia requires participants to be over 21, but they are planning on taking over the pools for parties, where does that leave the kids and teens on board? This is not family friendly entertainment.
  9. Thank you, I will try calling. However, this group did not go through ANY official NCL channels, so there simply is no record of the #s. They booked independently using many different travel agents.
  10. I think the volume and full takeover of the Soca group is going to be a bigger challenge than people in costume. They are planning to takeover all public music on the ship, and the volume and duration will be intense. Look on YouTube for "Uber Soca cruise".
  11. Thank you for your kindness. I live in the city of Boston but have never cruised from there! We love RI, travel down often for shows at PPAC and of course the beaches near Middletown.
  12. It is very much not legit. They planned this independently of NCL.
  13. Please help me with the next step. I spoke to a rep, I spoke to a supervisor. They have no record of this group. They can't help me because they see no problem. I was offered a cancellation or a switch to the Pearl (big downgrade from the Prima) both for about $2k. I really, really don't know what to do next.
  14. Unfortunately the Soca group is not an official charter. They are using independent travel agents to book rooms singly or in small groups. NCL has NO record of this group. It is not sanctioned by NCL. According to NCL, it is not happening. Yet the group is planning private parties and pool deck takeovers.
  15. Someone posted in my roll call, it was the first I'd heard of such a thing.
  16. Think Carnival-themed, costumes & dancing, and dancehall music. Look up Soca Cruise on YouTube, you will see that the pool deck is completely taken over by these themed parties.
  17. Any feedback on just finding out my April 16th cruise on the Prima will be hosting a chartered Soca cruise. It looks like it's possible the music and parties will be 24/7, on the pool deck, in the hallways. It's also April vacation for NE schools so possibly a lot of young families planning to go. I'm looking at other reviews of Soca cruises and YouTube videos and it really does look like a nonstop party.
  18. I'm so sorry you didn't understand me saying I don't know why I can't get a pizza to go for my teen to finish that evening, when other people with questionable hygiene practices could take whatever they want from a buffet and secret it wherever they'd like in the cabin. I assure you leftover pizza would last .2 seconds in my cabin, and I would never, under any circumstances, leave a tuna sandwich to fester. However, if I'm prohibited from taking pizza back because leftovers can't be guaranteed kept at a food safe temperature, shouldn't every passenger then be prohibited from bringing anything back from the buffet? Actually I guess bringing a discreet Ziploc to Onda would solve my pizza issue. But we've been down that road before. I guess the other question is why are the pizzas at Onda so large? They surely cannot be meant for one person.
  19. I'd like to know this as well because it makes sense to share a pizza at Onda.
  20. But anyone can take anything from the buffet for however long, right? Someone could keep a tuna sandwich in a drawer.
  21. So interesting about the food to go! I wonder why food waste is the preferable situation to a doggy bag. Does anyone have any insight into that?
