  1. I have been using the extra large zip lock bags for 15 years. Every since our luggage was left out on the tarmac during a thunderstorm when the workers were called back inside. Everything in the suitcase was wet. It was a winter trip so sweaters and heavy clothes, yuck.

I stared using cubes about 7 years ago but still use the zip locks because things like our formal wear doesn't fit in them. Not going to fold a sequin gown into a little cube and I do have some of the larger cubes. I tend to use zip locks for things I need to hangup.

I wish all suitcases had the zipped cover over each side. The smaller cubes will fall out when the wrong side of the suitcase is up when opened - by the tsa guys. So I use the cubes in the zippered side and large zip lock bags on the other side. My ziplocks are the exact size of my suitcase.

I love the smaller cubes. I have two dressers in one spare bedroom with travel stuff in them. I have a cube for electrical stuff, one for first aid stuff, different shampoos and conditiiners, one for laundry products, clothes pins, elastic line, etc, dental products. And so on. I don't need everything in all the cubes but different trips require different things. So I just pull each cube out, take out what I need and go on to the next. Saves me a lot of time and if I follow my packing lists, I rarely forgot anything.

I love the little ones. I keep them my purse - one for phone, tablet chargers, post a notes , pens, etc. One for make up, etc. Onefor gum, cough drops, hand sanitizer, etc. When I go shopping, I leave the cubes in the car that I won't need. It really lightens up my purse.

Try them if you have not. I find them at Marshalls and TJMax

Where do you find large zip lock bags the size of your suitcase?

  2. for me, I use the small ones and pack the undies in them and are able to stuff them in the nooks in the suite case. I usually fill the bottom of the suit case with them and a folder, which makes a nice even base to pack the rest of my clothing on.

But packing has many factors involved. How many shoes you take and how big or small are your shoes, the clothing size that you are packing makes a big difference too.

Shoe! Thats my issue. I put too many aside. Need to pull some out. Lol

  3. If it says “that offer concealment” and my purse is clear and shows whats in the purse I don’t think it should be an issue. If i have a phone in it plus money, CC and license that is in a small clear wallet, nothing is concealed.

A know the purse is stadium approved.

Why do you think it wouldn’t be allowed?

  4. According to the Arizona Memorial’s website (Know Before You Go) that would not be allowed.

    Bags

While cameras, water bottles, wallets, and other small items can be brought on site, no bags (or other items that offer concealment) are allowed at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. However, there is a bag storage facility, located at the USS Bowfin Submarine Park shuttle bus stop, where you can store your belongings for a fee of $4 per bag.

  5. Love my packing cubes. I have the Eagle Creek Spector cubes. Super lightweight, they’re made of parachute-like material.

When packing for a trip, I pack my cubes ahead of time. Packing day, I put them in my suitcase. They take up no extra weight or space. A couple of my cubes are compression cubes.

When I unpack my bag, I just toss the cubes in the closet. Super quick and easy.

When packing to go home, I pack dirty clothes in a cube or two, then pack the others a day or so early. The day before disembarkation, I relax and finish packing the cubes and putting them in my suitcase. Takes the stress off packing.

Love the idea of putting cubes in closet! Keep the clothes more organized. I ordered some with Prime. Cant wait to get them. I leave in a week.

  6. Fast question....I see you can purchase the coffee card prior to the cruise...and also the water package.,can you use your onboard free credits to pay for it, or do you have to "pay" for it, without your on board credit.......is the price different on the cruise? or the same?

Water package is only available prior to cruise but coffee card can be purchased on board and most likely you can use your onboard credits.

  7. I use packing cubes all the time now ..

mostly, they organize, but they do save a little space...although, if you are trying to cut down on weight, of course, they don't really help with that.

Want to be able to fit a little more in suitcase. Don’t want cubes to add too much weight.

  8. I love my cubes. Everything is sorted and kept clean. It makes unpacking very quick. It also makes it easier to live out of the suitcase without unpacking all.

Thanks. I was hoping it would save some space. Once I'm on ship I'll unpack but maybe I can keep some clothes in cubes organized in closet and drawers. Hmmm.

  9. our first princess cruise is coming up and considering getting one coffee card. confused with the wording of "unlimited brewed coffee". My husband likes brewed and I like latte's. If he goes to get me a latte, can he get himself a brewed coffee at the same time, and is he just charged (or one punch) for the latte.

we are on a 28 day cruise, and would prefer not to have daily charges for one or two coffees a day on our acct - we are not getting a drink package.

if hubby goes to get a coffee for himself, gets a brewed, do they punch the card ?

    thank you for any explaination

After reading all these posts i decided to get a coffee card!

  10. If you mean First Seating in traditional dining, don't count on it. Princess has a nasty habit of confirming 1st seating at 6pm, but when you get onboard it's either 5:45 or even worse 5:30. There's an early 5:30 seating in another dining room, but it's rarely 6pm in the traditional dining room.

We took this same cruise last March, and first seating was 5:45 in the Amalfi dining room. We're on the March 4 cruise, and we're confirmed for 6pm. I keep hoping it will actually be at 6pm, but I'm expecting 5:45.

Thanks. Early is ok as long as we r back on ship and dint miss shows. We normally ear dinner at 5pm anyway.

  11. Been on the Star twice and maybe had a total of 4 or 5 towel animals, They usually did them on formal nights if I remember correctly.

Pools not really warm, but chill knocked off.

Yes you can see other balconies if you look down.

Star is one of our favorite ships, always had great service and we enjoy the Wheelhouse Bar.

Thank you. Glad to hear its one of your favorites.
