It's so much fun and so messy. I don't bother with gloves. I enjoy the few days with dyed hands and fingernails. Hubby lives in tie dye--he's a 60s hippy even though he actually came of age in the 70s.

I tried a technique I found on Pinterest. It didn't look like it was going to work while it was curing, but I definitely did a happy dance at the reveal. We're going to do it again in the fall. Several of my coworkers have expressed an interest.

Yees it definitely looks like a fun project!! We'll definitely be doing this pre-cruise fun project a few days before and have it ready for our sailing date! We'll have to watch a few tutorial videos  before doing it though 😅

Woow such stunning views!! Thanks so much for sharing, this is an activity that has been in our mind for a few years now and for one thing or another we don't end up doing it but this thread really got us excited about maybe doing it this year!! 😄

Not quite sewing, but we did have fun. I made two shirts and this is my favorite of the two. I think it will definitely make the packing list for our upcoming TA.

You can sort of see the other one--it's bronze and purple stripes.

This looks wonderful!! Such a great idea for a cruise, definitely will make some for my husband and I for our next cruise!

  4. It's so unfortunate, I have been seeing this more and more with cruise lines that they are now leaving cruisers on their own for testing which makes it very stressful. Not sure if this may be helpful, but if you are embarking out of the Vancouver port, there is a testing clinic right next to the cruise ship terminal in Vancouver inside the Vancouver Convention Centre which is soo convenient for us cruisers!! You can book an appointment online and I heard they also accept walk-ins and they have very affordable prices.  Here is the link in case you want to check them out https://covid-medical.ca/covid-19-test-book-online/

The CVM Medical test site at the Vancouver Convention Center "is only closed until July 1staccording to an email I just received from them in reply to a question about rescheduling my appointment on July 6th.

    Their full statement:

"At this time the Convention Centre location is only closed until July 1st and your appointment will not be affected."

We had planned to get our test done there, but now I don’t trust them to honor their appointments. Will get ours elsewhere. Not comfortable with doing it ourselves over the internet.

Yeah the CVM Medical clinic that is in Canada Place next to the cruise ship terminal will be open again as of July 1st. I spoke with a very nice lady in their customer service line which she explained they had to close for renovations but will be back up and running on July 1st with no problem.

@Storylady Personally, we also don't like doing it ourselves onboard. The Wi-Fi on board makes me a little worried and I wouldn't trust it since there will be so many users trying to do the same thing the day before disembarking. My husband and I have travelled to the US a few times this year and we just got back from our cruise a week ago. We always get tested with CVM Medical, we absolutely love the service and locations! Maybe give them a try at their airport location or their cruise ship terminal clinic once it opens again and you'll see their great service 🙂

We’re flying into Vancouver from England 3 days before sailing. Can anyone tell me where to get our pre cruise covid test done?

My husband and I have travelled to the US a few times this year and we just got back from our cruise not long ago. We always get tested with CVM Medical, they have a clinic at the airport and one right in the downtown Vancouver area next to the cruise ship terminal which was closed for renovations but will be open again from July 1st. We have gotten tested for different trips at both clinics and we absolutely love the service and locations!! Here is the link in case you want to check them out  https://covid-medical.ca/covid-19-test-book-online/
    I hope this helps 🙂

  7. Yeah my husband and I have tested at their airport location and now at the new clinic near the cruise terminal in Vancouver and we have n complaints, always get such great service!

We are going on the Alaska cruise at the end of May and we have pre-booked online both of our Covid tests.

On our Viking cruise a few months ago, they provided free covid test onboard on day before our last day/day before our flight back to US.  Easy peasy.

On our land based European tour last month, they had covid test at hotel for $30 day before.  Results emailed 1 hour later.  Easy peasy.

Our upcoming cruise in June has entire sea day in inside passage on day (Sat) before docking back in Vancouver (Sun).  All of our group of 30, along with most of our fellow 3000 passengers onboard, are flying back to the US, thus need proctored covid test to fly.

    I assume:

    1.  Cruise ship (RCCL) doesn't provide staff & tests kits onboard

    2.  Majority will bring their own Emed proctored test kits, since they don't want to wait last minute to test at pier the morning that they're flying out

    3.  Everyone will log onto ship's wifi to do proctored test

Assume that we're too far out/away from good reliable TMobile cell signal while in inside passage.

So will/are ship's wifi good enough to handle the massive load of video conf calls to do proctored tests on that Sat?

Guess RCCL won't be giving us free wifi for that day, & One of us must purchase the wifi pkg for the day & take turn to share access?

I have been seeing this more and more with cruise lines that they are now leaving cruisers on their own for testing which makes it very stressful. Personally Wi-Fi on board makes me a little worried and I wouldn't trust it since there will be so many users trying to do the same thing the day before disembarking. So just in case that self testing option does not work well due to Wi-Fi connection on the cruise then not sure if this may be helpful or an option for you but there is a testing clinic that is actually right next to the cruise ship terminal in Vancouver inside the Vancouver Convention Centre which is soo convenient for us cruisers!! You can book an appointment online and I heard they also accept walk-ins.  Here is the link in case you want to check them out https://covid-medical.ca/covid-19-test-book-online/

I have been having a conversation on social media with a cruiser on the May 4 Eclipse cruise (Honolulu to Vancouver) Apparently they inquired about premium internet to perform their return to the US Covid test onboard prior to disembarking and were told testing needs to be done off the ship, that they can’t test onboard. My first thought was that X doesn’t want to be responsible for them if they get a positive result onboard, perhaps I am missing something but this makes no sense.

Any info I can pass on? I feel badly for this person who is stressing about this on their vacation.

  10. Not sure if this may be helpful but there is a testing clinic that is actually right next to the cruise ship terminal in Vancouver inside the Vancouver Convention Centre which is soo convenient for us cruisers!! Maybe you can book an appointment before boarding your cruise and then you will get your results in your email within like half an hour or so after you get tested for the antigen. From what I see on their website they also offer PCR test.  Here is the link in case you want to check them out https://covid-medical.ca/covid-19-test-book-online/

  11. Thanks for opening this thread, so many cruisers have been left on their own by cruise lines now no longer providing Covid-19 testing. My husband and I have also used CVM Medical in the past and we've always had a great experience. They send results via email within half hour or so and their customer service line is great as well if you run into any issues!

Yeah for cruisers I would also recommend their brand new location in the Vancouver Convention Centre which is right next to the cruise terminal. Here is the link of their locations to book in case it may be useful for anyone https://covid-medical.ca/covid-19-test-book-online/

Our HAL Alaskan cruise has 7AM on a Saturday as the disembarkation time in Vancouver.  We have a very late flight out, and plan to tour Vancouver all day.  We need to schedule a Covid test near the port.  What is a reasonable time to expect that we will actually be off the ship, and able to walk 10 minutes to the testing site?  I want to get those tests done and then go on with the days plans.

The airport testing sites will be closed by the time we actually get to the airport for our 11 pm flight.

They will send your results via email within like half an hour or so after you get tested. This was once you get off your cruise, you can walk over to the Convention Centre get tested and then go enjoy the rest of your day in Vancouver without having to worry about your Covid-19 test.  Here is the link https://covid-medical.ca/covid-19-test-book-online/  It's located in the Vancouver Convention Centre, I booked my test online but I heard that they also accept walk-ins. What a nice service you have provided for those who need testing in Vancouver.  I wonder why Seabourn did not provide this information along with the notice that they will not be testing.  I'm beginning to wonder if they have slimmed down the number of employees and those remaining are swamped with responsibilities and are not able to provide the service Seabourn guests expect.  Just a speculation of course, but I can't think of another reason questions are going unanswered and information is sparse.  It doesn't instill the confidence we need to go ahead and book a cruise.

I am also an UNHAPPY recipient of this notice.  Last night I ordered the self tests, and paid extra for expedited shipping because the standard shipping would have them arriving the day before we fly to Vancouver, way too close for comfort.

I have seen conflicting reports about wifi availability on Seabourn.  Is it included now, and will it be reliable enough for proctored tests?

I am another Crystal "refugee" looking for a new favorite cruise line, and I have to say that Seabourn is not off to a great start.

Thank you @pattycruisealot21 for the info about the testing site at the Convention Centre.  It is great to know that is another option.

    Anytime it is my pleasure 🙂  @MrToblerone, @SLSD & @SusieQft
I completely understand  how stressful it is to travel and cruise right now with all of these confusing testing requirements, I too was very nervous, lost and stressed. I had to spend many hours to find something reliable so I am happy to share and save my fellow cruisers the time and headache! Finally I'll be cruising again this year so maybe we'll bump into each other at some cruise! Happy cruising everyone!!

Do you have to prepay for the test?  I plan on taking an eMed test with me and doing it early the morning of disembarkation.  If it doesn't work, for whatever reason, I'd like a backup plan in place.

My flight isn't until late afternoon (5:30 on June 15).  I haven't even looked at options to get from the ship to the airport.  I'll have to do some research about Sky Train.  I've never sailed from Vancouver and have no idea about distance from cruise port to airport.  I'm a solo female, and it's always a little stressful the first time in a new area when you don't know your way around.

Now that HAL has changed their onboard testing policy for US-bound passengers, I'm considering getting tested at the Convention Center after disembarkation, before heading to the airport, rather than getting tested at the airport. Has anybody done that? Is it less crowded than the airport?

what is the company that does testing at convention center? Is it an easy walk?

My husband and I have gotten tested with CVM Medical at the airport last month and we had a great experience, we got results within 30 to 35 minutes. And now I found out from their website that  they have a new very convenient location right next to the cruise terminal in the Vancouver Convention Centre and the prices are pretty good as well. Here is the link in case you guys want to check it out:  https://covid-medical.ca/test-select-location/ We already booked our tests online at the Convention Centre for our tests after our upcoming Alaska cruise but it says that they also accept walk-ins in case that is a preference for some.

I have seen some posts that HAL has indicated they will not be providing tests for passengers disembarking in Vancouver. We disembark on 7/10 and Delta has rescheduled our flight home to the USA to an earlier departure of 1:00pm. Any ideas on where we can get testing in the limited time? We did pay for the HAL transfer from the port to the airport. Can we pay to have a test done on the ship the day before disembarking? Freaking out a little bit. 😳😬

Thanks for any feedback or suggestions.

We leave in six days only to find out that HAL will no longer do Covid testing port cruise in Canada. We now have just a couple days to make other arrangements.

Princess now states we are responsible for our own Covid testing  at disembarkation to fly home to the US same day. We have 1pm flights so not alot of time given they are saying arrive at least 3 hours early due to staff shortages and long lines at YVR.  We do have the proctored eMed tests we can use on board. But if needed what is the closest/quickest place to be tested at disembarkation? Thanks

Just got a  notice that Seabourn is no longer providing antigen tests for people getting off in Vancouver for their return flight home. Why not provide the test and charge us for the test as a source of revenue. I have a flight at 5:30 pm to Seattle, so I have time, but have to now research and schedule the test. Will have to cancel my Seabourn excursion of Vancouver so I have time to do all this. Added stress not needed, but they say it is circumstances beyond their control HAL has also made the same decision.

I have been seeing this a lot lately with cruise lines, I was just mentioning in another forum that cruise lines should really be helping us more as cruisers providing us with more information or links for testing.

The more I read the more confused I get. If we are getting off in Vancouver and flying home to the USA we need a test, that I understand. Princess states that testing can be done on board. I have downloaded the Medallion app onto my phone but will not sign up for the onboard internet. Does that mean I can't do the test onboard,? I won't have a connection correct?

Here is what Princess website says:

If guests would prefer to have the required test completed while still on board, Princess has partnered with Optum so that before traveling to the ship U.S.-based vaccinated guests can order an FDA-authorized at-home antigen test kit, shipped to their homes in three business days or less. Guests can take these tests on the ship, using MedallionNet to complete the required, video-supervised visit with an eMed Certified Guide through telehealth services.

Yeah from what I have learned through my research is that the US is still requiring a COVID-19 viral test no more than 1 day before you travel by air into the United States. Here is the link to the CDC website that I've found tons of helpful information https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html
