  1. thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your cruise.
  2. OK, I could have sworn I had read it somewhere … but I guess I just saw it on a Gary Bembridge Video then. Thank you @Victoria2 for setting me straight.

  5. thank you @tonyl1956 for. our interesting review and @LWhit for your input. LWhit may I ask how much your private transport from Azamara cost?
  6. @360Guy thank you for your comment. the cruise (with adjusted price) can also be booked via a travel agent, but there is a time frame (I think they told us one year after move up, but I am sure someone will correct me if that is wrong)
  7. Thank you for your wishes @Grandma Cruising. We were very lucky on our journey home - a perfect ending!
  8. Thank you very much @Travelswithmycamera for taking the time to comment. I hope you will have a wonderful cruise - Chioggia is really lovely and should make for a perfect start to a perfect cruise.
  9. Thank you @3rdGenCunarder for a fantastic review. I am looking forward to my very first Cunard Cruise and my very first one in Alaska so this review is a gem. Also love your photos.
  10. sure: His name is Stefano Boscolo, his email-adress is stefano.boscolo.67@alice.it I paid 130 E for a private transport / 2 p in a van that fit at least 4 with baggage. He was friendly, very responsive and perfectly on time. The azamara transfer by bus would have cost 49 pP
  11. Summing up: I loved loved loved our cruise. And although the ship was fully booked, we never felt it. We loved the food. Especially the dishes in prime C were simply superb imho. I did not know what to expect as far as wine quality of the ultimate package wines was concerned but I was absolutely not disappointed. The suite was lovely, the crew and the fellow passengers were great. I am very happy that we are booked on another Azamara cruise for autumn next year - I really cannot wait. Thanks to everybody who left a kind word or a reaction - happy cruising to all of you!
  12. Back on the ship the dreaded packing had to be done. Oh how I hate to do that. Somehow every time I come home from a trip my suitcases seem to have shrunk and my clothes seem to have magically multiplied... Combined with the souvenirs that I HAD TO buy, it was a really hard task to be done. We enjoyed our last dinner and our last night on the balcony overlooking the beautiful Venetian sea: The morning of debarkation we had preordered a taxi. Stefano drove us to the airport circumventing traffic jams and road blocks that seemed to try and stop us from leaving beautiful Chioggia.
  13. This (link) is a walking tour on wikiloc that visits the points of interest in Chioggia.
  14. It is really lovely. This is the Hotel "Grande Italia". Should we ever come back to Chioggia (to start a cruise maybe?), I want to book this hotel! It is ideally situated, and seems so posh! Just around the corner from the Hotel Grande Italia you can hop on a boat tour ("motonave Anna") where you can do a one hour panoramic tour of the canals for only 10 Euro.
  15. The houses are colorful, people are sitting in the streets in little cafés, chatting, laughing... the atmosphere is happy and relaxed.
  16. We spent the last day in Chioggia and did not regret not going into Venice - which we will do another time. (The distance to Venice is only a little over an hour by plane for us). It was not as hot as the other days, there was a nice breeze and we found out that visiting the little town (they seem to call it little Venice for a reason) was convenient and rewarding. To reach the little canals you just exit the port and turn left.
  17. wow, that would cause some second hand embarassment… I imagine that a huge amount of work and preparation went into this event, I could not understand how anybody would be so little appreciative of that!
  18. Following along there is a lovely Marina They even have refreshment-spray-thingies: there is also a (very) little Parc: and very cute little boats
  19. If you turn left (facing the ships) you will get to a beach. (this picture does not do it justice. It is actually quite nice. Stony but nice)
