  1. Sorry about all the hassles with the doctor's office today. You are right about the mess trying to deal with their offices these days! Good luck with that surgery and I hope it helps a lot, as well as quick healing for you. What a great gift for your family with the new baby girl! Hope you can stand waiting for that first visit with Facetime and zoom calls. Good luck!!
  2. Good morning friends! Here where I'm at in Georgia the temp is 64F, with a high of 84 and partly cloudy later on. We are going to DH's hygienist appointment this morning and perhaps do a few errands afterwards. Thanks go to RIch @richwmn for accumulating all the info needed for the Daily and Fleet Report. The World Cruise is having a sea day today and like Rich said left at 7 am from Agadir for some daytime cruising to Casablanca. Today's days of celebration are Deep Dish Pizza Day, Go For Broke Day and National Dandelion Day. I love pizza but really prefer thinner crust. I think that type is more popular than deep dish but don't let a Chicagoan hear you say that! Go for broke sounds a little risky to me! Dandelions are a curse in your yard but many people like to eat them as greens. I can do without. The quote today is sometimes true unfortunately. But it sounds amusing! The meal today I'm going to take a pass on however I'm sure Debbie @dfish can make it seem palatable. Since I don't even know what Tofu Banh Mi is I could be all wrong. The drink sounds refreshing and the wine is a complete mystery to me. Thanks go to Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for helping us with descriptions. Prayers to all our Daily friends and family on the Care list. Also to those around the world in troubling situations - may each day bring better news for all! 🙏 A salute to those on the Celebration list. Good news for some of us and happy cruising to all those on a ship.🚢🥂 Thanks to Vanessa @JazzyV for staying on top of the lists for us. What a great job she does even while preparing for her wonderful voyage ahead. Today's port is Bridgetown, Barbados. It was posted here twice before on July 7, 2021 and August 30, 2022 so I will post the links to those dates for your convenience. Feel free to go back in time and read a few pages. It can bring back memories of what those days held for us, good and bad. I've been once to Bridgetown and enjoy a nice tour there so you can suffer through my photos once again right after the links.😉 But first I got a report around 9 pm on last night's FC Dallas game. They won 3 - 0 on a windy evening in the Dallas area on a slightly sloping field. Not ideal! This time they tried out Ren as a right wing which I have no idea what that position does. He didn't have the ball as much but did set up a goal for another player and goals are the name of the game in soccer! ⚽ Third game is a little earlier this evening on a better field. Stay tuned! Here is my report on our port of the day. We went to Bridgetown, Barbados in 2015 on Ruby Princess circumnavigating South America from Ft. Lauderdale. I took a tour that day and enjoyed it as I recall. My tour in Bridgetown took me many places for a good overall view of the area. First we went to Gun Hill Signal Station, a military outpost built in 1818 that once served as a lookout for approaching ships. The buildings have been restored by the National Trust. You could see all the other signal stations from here. In the distance are the cruise ships in port. Next we stopped at Orchid World for a very informal look at the local orchids as well as other plants such as the poinsettia bush. Last we visited Sunbury Plantation, a beautifully restored monument to plantation life of a bygone era. We were told the walls were two feet deep helping to keep it cool inside. Some of those thick walls Outside we were given a demonstration on how to make rum punch and cod fish cakes. We had plenty of samples and everyone had a good, old time! Cod fish cakes Heading back to the ship we passed all the sugar cane fields and a rum distillery. Barbados rum is known worldwide. Hope everyone enjoys a safe, happy and Worthy Wednesday! Off to the treadmill and possibly a quick visit to the gym this morning.

  4. sorry Bruce, but black snakes eat bluebird eggs or babies. I love my bluebirds! Let the cats keep the mice population down.
  5. I almost missed the sailaway today because DH spotted a black snake about 4 feet long slithering along the sldewalk out by the street. He took care of it so I could see the Eurodam leave. Not that I would ever take care of a 4 foot long snake!🐍
  6. Business in the front, party in the back! Just like a mullet!! 🤣
  7. Farragut is a destroyer which I believe help protect the larger carriers. Cool to see them all out on deck, some waving, too.
  8. Trying to keep an eye on this thread and the webcam while doing other things. I hope I don't mess up and miss it! Too much going on sometimes.
  9. Looks very charming. Of course it is, like most Norwegian cities. Is this a checkup? I hope the news is very good.🐈
  10. Thanks Graham! Maybe football is part of the reason your knees are shot! Yikes! Hope the injection didn't hurt. Have a great day! Hi Nancy, I would agree with you and Paul @kochleffel my eggs have to be cooked to eat. Thanks for your Ren comments. He's such a sweetheart.❤️ Good morning back! Welcome to the Daily!
  11. April!! As the old saying goes, don't wish your life away!🤪
  12. I think we've all agreed after much research they are doing Ft. Lauderdale, Nassau Bahamas, and Ocho Rios this year too only on the Eurodam. April 4 depart, April 5 Nassau, April 7 Ocho Rios and back to Ft. Lauderdale on April 9. Whew!
  13. Thank you Sharon! I see it listed in Nassau, but the sites I looked at didn't have Eurodam listed for Ocho Rios for some reason. I totally believe that's where they're headed and will no doubt find out it will be in Jamaica two days later. Good job finding that!
  14. I've found Eurodam on Nassau, Bahamas' docket for 4-05, but haven't found any mention of Eurodam in Ocho, Rios on 4-07. I'll keep searching for another destination.
  15. That's next year's Love and Harmony charter cruise out of Miami. I'm still looking for this week's Eurodam charter itinerary. Need to seach the Charter's thread that @VMax1700 mentioned in another thread. If you find the correct itinerary before I do please post it. Thanks!
  16. I think I will skip going to the gym for leg exercises. Maybe I'll try DH's Total Gym for a few leg exercises and go up and down the stairs repeatedly. I just don't feel like going out into the fog and high humidity this morning. I woke up to a couple of photos from DS this morning of Ren. First shows the ball right next to the goalie's left foot and that is Ren shooting it into the net. Afterwards, a jubilant FC Dallas U16 team congratulate Ren. He's in the back being surrounded by his new teammates. They have been most welcoming to the new recruit. Rain expected later today in Dallas for the second game of the tournament.🏃‍♂️
  17. I hope they "park' her in a spot visible to the camera today but I doubt it! Right now she is several miles out to sea at 5:29 am but I have to get started on my treadmill. The Daily is officially posted so my job is done. Hope someone will capture her arrival for us all. Thanks for starting the thread today!
  18. Good morning friends! It's a very foggy, dark morning outside right now. We are at 59F, will have a little rain and partly cloudy skies otherwise, and 80 degrees. Thank you Rich @richwmn for our Fleet Report and Daily information. I'm not sure what we would do without you preparing this all ahead of time. Our days to celebrate are Hug a Newsman Day, Walk Around Things Day, and School Librarian Day. I can think of a couple newspersons (thanks RNB) I might hug but the vast majority, no. I recommend walking around things instead of into them like I did that door in my bedroom one night. I'm still surprised I didn't break my nose. And school librarians are a gift. I haven't thought much about it but I hope schools still have them. I know they did when my kids were in school. I was the volunteer Mom to the librarian and enjoyed it immensely.📚 Today's quote is long and about fear. Hope you like it - it didn't do much for me. The meal sounds exotic and I've never tasted it before. Let's see what Debbie @dfish found out about it before I pass judgment. An interesting sounding cocktail though some of you will probably say don't mess with the bourbon. And I'm sure the Cabernet Sauvignon is nice but I'll pass on the red wine.🍷 Our wonderful port today is Haugesund, Norway. I wish I could say I'd been there - actually been there! I was on Island Princess and we stopped at Haugesund, Norway last June 15, the day after I was sent to Covid jail. That is the day DH joined me there. I probably didn't even see anything out the window because it wasn't a tender port! I hope someone here has some photos and a nice little description of the place because I will have to take another cruise to get there! This is the first time Haugesund has come up as port of the day, too! So I have no link for you and no photos. What kind of a newsperson am I? What a shame.☹️ Let me thank Debbie, Ann @cat shepard, Dixie @summer slope and Vanessa @JazzyV for their work today on the Daily. Hope they are better newspersons than I am! Prayers for all on the Care list. Hoping that many of you are feeling better or improving at least. Prayers too for all the victims we've thought about so much in Ukraine, the earthquake victims, train derailment/crashes, tornadoes, and shootings. 🙏 Thank you to Gerry @ger_77 and her DH as well as friends who have been helping the Ukrainian family settle into her community. What a gift you are Gerry! Cheers to the Celebration list people who are enjoying happy and exciting events in their lives including cruises. 🥂 Congrats to DGS Ren on yesterday's victory and perhaps a few more this week.🎉⚽ Hoping everyone here has a safe and thoughtful Tuesday!
  19. Today is Hug a Newsman Day, Walk Around Things Day, and School Librarian Day I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.--Frank Herbert, DuneMeal Suggestion for today - Green ShakshukaDrink of the Day - Apricot Sage Bourbon CocktailWine of the Day - Trinity Hill Cabernet Sauvignon Hawkes Bay Prison Block 2020Destination of the Day - Haugesund, Norway Eurodam Fort Lauderdale, Port Everglades, Florida 07:00 - 16:00 Koningsdam Dry Dock Vigor Ship Yard until 4/12 Nieuw Amsterdam George Town, Grand Cayman 0800-1700 Nieuw Statendam San Juan, Puerto Rico 13:00 - 23:00 Oosterdam Panama City, Fuerte Amador, Balboa 08:00 Arrive Rotterdam At Sea destination New York City, New York eta 4-06 Volendam St Thomas, US Virgin Islands 0800-1700 Zaandam San Diego, California 07:00 - 16:00 Zuiderdam Agadir, Morocco 08:00 - 17:00Eastern Hemisphere Noordam At Sea Destination Melbourne, Victoria Australia eta 4-06 Westerdam Aburatsu, Japan 0700-1700 Sandi for Rich and Roy
  20. @leerathje do you know what Eurodam will be doing between tomorrow and April 9? Not listed on cruisetimetables.com
  21. We weren't able to watch this afternoon's first game for FC Dallas but got info from DS. At halftime it was 2-0 Dallas. Then they allowed Ren to go in and he did well, scoring goal 3. The sidelines were very impressed with his speed! The game ended 4-0 Dallas. I'm glad the team has been so accepting of this latest recruit. Hoping the next game goes their way too. It was hot there today - 90F. Tomorrow should be somewhat cooler - 84 predicted. So happy you shared your photo of the big city of Boston! Our July cruise sails from, and returns to, your city. Looking forward to it!
  22. Your recipe is certainly easy. I want to see Sharon's mom's recipe too!
  23. Jane, I have another recipe for porcupine meatballs that was taken from a 1969 General Mills publication called "Betty Crocker's Ways With Hamburger". As a new bride of a college student, an aquaintance asked if I'd like to see some tasty dishes that were easy to cook. One of them was Porcupine Meatballs. It was a hit, and our kids grew up loving this recipe served on Minute Rice. My son enjoys preparing this for his family and makes enough for plenty of leftovers. He likes lots of sauce so doubles the amount shown in the recipe book. Here's the recipe. Porcupine Meatballs 1 lb. ground chuck 1/2 cup uncooked Minute Rice 1/4 cup water 1/3 cup chopped onion 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. celery salt 1/8 tsp garlic powder 1/8 tsp. pepper 2 Tbsp. shortening (or substitute oil) for skillet For the sauce: 15 ounces tomato sauce 1 cup water 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce Mix ground chuck, rice, water, onion, salts, garlic powder and pepper. Shape mixture by hand into balls. Melt shortening or pour oil into large skillet (we use an electric skillet), brown meatballs on all sides. Drain off fat. Stir together remaining liquid ingredients, pour over meatballs in skillet. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 45 minutes. If necessary, add 1 to 2 Tbsp. water during cooking. 4 servings. Serve over rice.
