  1. If I was a gang wanting to rob people at Labadee, and I don't THINK this will happen, I'd go directly to the ship, bypass the people on land, board her and start taking people that are on the ship to their cabins and get them to open their safe(s) and go to Guest Services. Afterall, ships are very very unsecure. Most don't have arms available (as I've been told) to them. Even if they are armed, they are so securely stored, it would take too much time to issue them in an effective manor. Again, that's not to say that I think this would happen in Labadee. JMHO
  2. Hummmmmm. I didn't see that option, I'll check again. Thanks EDITED IN: Wait, doesn't it say that at the top right? Or is there a button of some type that takes you to something more current and informative?
  3. If this is what you are talking about, I guess I was expecting more. LOL: Well, thanks, that helped
  4. I wasn't going to go there but I totally agree. When I'm seeking knowledge of something, I'll accept the word of a person that works within that something (profession) over someone that isn't/doesn't. I don't mind opinion about things, I just get turned off when someone tells a professional that they are wrong about something, especially without back-up. No, not all professionals are perfect, that's for sure. But, at face value, I'll accept their words as authoritative until proven otherwise and if the subject is important to me, I'll still do what I can to research it. There words are just a starting point for me, if it's that important to me.
  5. Could be a lot of issues, for sure. And I just want to make it clear that I, in no way and stated, don't/didn't find fault with your post or your review. I was just sharing my experience with the food on the cruises that I've been on.
  6. Where on the website do you find the status of a Royal-Up bid?
  7. On a cruise ship, especially Royal, I don't think I've had a meal that I would come into a social media forum and complain about. NO! I'm not finding fault with those of you in here that have. I'm just saying that it hasn't happened to me. I've dined around the world in a lot of the higher-end restaurants and some of the best Big Box restaurants and many many Ma/Pa corner restaurants. So, I think I know what a good meal tastes like. I also know what a bad meal tastes like, Military Mess Halls come to mind! But, many of those were very good too. Is Royal's buffet and other included eating venues "WORLD CLASS"? No, of course not. But, to me, they have always been acceptable. Now, I'd like for Royal to swap dessert recipes with Rustbucket Cruise Lines, Inc. Rustbucket Cruise Lines, Inc., does a couple things better than Royal, that's desserts and Spa. But, I'll never cruise Rustbucket Cruise Line, Inc., again. But, that's a whole other story, for another day. Sorry if your meal(s) wasn't up to par!
  8. My email says that I may not be awarded my bid until 2 hours after embarkation. What a crock. In effect, your baggage is on a cart headed to your original cabin assignment, maybe even in the hallway outside the original cabin assignment, and your not even going to that cabin. Then the process of getting your luggage married up with you again, begins. However, my bid, I'm about 99% sure, isn't going to be won as there aren't any Suites left that I bid on. Oh well.
  9. Generally true. But, not all. That's why it's important to shop around.
  10. To me, a "Big Box" TA is an Internet/phone only, no store front (could possibly have a store front at their home office), dozens/hundreds of agents that are all interchangeable, Impersonal, not local, and that only deal in a specific type of travel arm, like cruising. EDITED IN: A "Big Box" TA may, if requested, handle some ancillary items surrounding cruising, hotel & flight for example.
  11. I've been there a few times without issue. That's about all I can say other than Haiti has, for a long long time (decades) been in political and economic chaos. Take it for what it's worth! I'd go back, I think I'd look forward to going back more than going to Coco Cay.
  12. The new Terminal is the white building at the top right. The old Terminal is about center of the Google Earth photo.
  13. One thing I can say about Rustbucket Cruise Line, Inc., is that their Spa was fairly good with lots of rooms/activities in it.
  14. Beverage packages, including the Star Class included beverage package is observed on the Cay. That's about it, I believe.
  15. I've not only researched the offers, I've used them. My last cruise on the Ovation of the Seas, Star Loft, May, Alaska, I got the $1,500.00 OBCs, and BTW, it wasn't my first time getting it. At the time of booking the TA (Big Box) that offered it required at least $15,000.00 fare to get the $1,500.00 OBC. Now it is up to $20,000.00 to get the $1,500.00. If you go back in previous posts, you'll see where that exact subject was discussed. Oh, I've done a lot of research with this very subject, the subject of how much OBCs are and how you get them, more than I let on. When I ask a question, like how one type of TA can offer something that another doesn't or can't, it is a genuine question. But, again, I know how to get the OBCs and how much you have to spend to get them and how much they are. "Do you think Anyone is going to give you $1500 for spending $1000". NO! And I never said so. I don't need your suggestion to get off CC and do some research about this general subject. BTW, why so angry!
  16. But, the only, seems to me, TAs that offer substantial OBCs, like $1,500.00 are the Big Box TAs. I'd love to mention some of the TA agencies that do and don't offer the big OBC but apparently it's against the rules.
  17. Hey, I read it on the internet. I know that TAs get 10% across the board. There's no debating it, damn it! Of course, I'm kidding.
  18. Man, it ain't a level playing field out there, is it! I guess it takes a special person to want to do that job, to want to navigate through all the Cruise Line B.S. and inequities. I still believe that, at least, the Big Box TAs get a kick back at some point. Just like the owner's of Car Dealerships get what they call "Residuals" at least it was many years ago. Owner's of car dealers got several hundreds of $s kick back for each unit that the dealership sold at the end of they year or sometime during the year. Don't know if that is still going on today. They don't talk about that, then or now! JMHO!
