  1. I'm anxiously awaiting to see if our bide is accepted for an upgrade to a larger room. I cancelled one of the four bids we made, since it didn't make sense to pay the additional cost (approx $1K) for a small upgrade (100 sq ft). But I would like an upgrade.
  2. I am a walking "upcharge". I guess I'm trying to figure out is how the FAS will be applied. If we only have alcohol and lobster upcharge on an bill, that's not bad. But if they disregard my FAS credit at an A la carte restaurant, and I get handed at $150 bill, I would be a bit upset. Or worse, if I held back, and didn't order what I wanted for fear of being handed the $150 bill.
  3. We booked three specialty restaurants for an 11-night cruise. I was just wondering if they would apply, say $50 pp towards our bill (or some amount).
  4. We have a Specialty Dining Package with registration. Since most of the restaurants are a la carte, will there be any credit on the bill for our meal if we only book a la carte restaurants?
  5. My partner is 80 yo and loves to read and watch movies. He does spend quite a bit of time in the room. I love to run around the ship. That's why cruising is perfect for us.
  6. Hmmm...maybe not. When I opened the email from NCL on my phone, it took me to the screen that seemed to already have bids. But after seeing your post, I opened the email on my desktop and the bids were all zero, waiting for my bid. So, I went back to my phone and moved the sliding bid-ometer thingy to a minor bid. I'm reading that you won't know right away. We'll see. Thanks for heads up.
  7. Depends. One time it was total, this time it was pp for an 11-day cruise. But again, I kind of don't look back at the sunk costs, they're already spent. Can I afford an extra $1K-ish and would the benefit be worth it.
  8. I'm claustrophobic so I cannot be in an inside cabin nor an ocean view. I'm fine with a balcony and if it has some perks like a spa pass included, even better. I have friends who can easily afford the Haven suites, but choose inside cabins or ocean views, I guess to save money. As an accountant, I do a cost benefit analysis and if the extra perks are worth the incremental costs, I'll call and upgrade. After the initial costs have been paid (sunk costs), what's an extra $1K on a 10-day EU cruise for additional benefits? It's less painful after the initial outlay. Well, that's my reasoning anyway.
  9. We just received an email with the "room upgrade" bidding. When I went to bid on a room, I clicked on a room and it showed where the bidding was already at, which was more than double the minimum bid. Basically, we were already out of our league before we started. Many years ago, before the bidding wars, we were called and offered an upgrade at a very reasonable price which we accepted. And we are STILL happy we did that.
  10. I'm a big water drinker and I need to force my partner to drink his required water each day. We ordered the max package to be delivered on day one. We'll take a few on excursions with us each day. I don't want to be standing in line filling my yeti each day with the 20 other guests who wanted to save a few dollars after spending a couple of thousand dollars on a cruise. I have enough to do just to keep us on schedule, adding "fill water bottle" to it is not in my wheelhouse. It was actually a no-brainer for me.
