  1. I thought HAL President Gus Antorcha looked a little Deer in the Headlights when asked to comment on tasting the dishes. Glad it wasn't me, though. Good marketing blitz for HAL's culinary efforts.
  2. If you have or are getting travel insurance, read the fine print in your insurance coverage as gift cards are usually not insurable, which was news to me. Some advice is to pay the actual cruise fare with cash and use gift cards for fees, HIA and other add-ons to stay fully insured. I've used AARP gift cards several times with no problems, but some people have had issues with the AARP website purchasing process. I'm careful to track each purchase as it goes through, keep every email, and follow instructions for each card one by one. When I finally get a page with card number and pin, I print it out and save it. It's possible you might get a refund in the form of a credit back to the card in some circumstances.
  3. The AARP discount on HAL gift cards was recently changed from 10% to 8%.
  4. Thanks for all the time and energy you put into sharing your acquired knowledge of all things HAL, much appreciated. The Institute of Cheer is so inspirational and a shining light for all. Thank you, thank you.
  5. Your humor and perseverance are an inspiration. May you reap many deserved rewards as you set sail today! Relax and enjoy it all!
  6. I have Campaign ID: HEP2418AK received April 5th. (This one is exclusively Alaska sailings.)
  7. May the Bubble of Awesome float effortlessly, best wishes for a great holiday! Bon voyage!
  8. For one 7-day booking last year I had the same experience as OP. I just kept checking the wonky website for a few weeks and eventually HIA showed as available for no particular reason so I grabbed it. I hadn't called anyone or made any booking changes. You could have your TA try via a phone call.
  9. Aloha and very best wishes for a wonderful cruise! Have fun with your travel companions and hope you enjoy discovering all Hawaii has to offer.
  10. After 3 weeks from debarkation my credits didn't show up so I emailed (I think to Mariner Society) with the relevant info and it popped up immediately.
  11. I was on Koningsdam 10045 a couple months ago, which would be comparable. The inside room is cramped but I really liked the location, very convenient for getting around the ship. The cabin has very little walking room, a nice big bed, and only a stool at the desk for sitting. Any room time I spent on the bed. Closet space was adequate and bathroom was acceptable, nice full shower. For two people it would be a challenging dance moving around within the cabin. But nearby forward stairs/elevators give easy access to outside spaces, Crows Nest and Mainstage. And being near the Deck 10 door to the public space was very handy, many amenities/views there. And easy spa access, which I didn't use. On Halfacts look at pics for Rotterdam 8121 which I think is representative. (Inside cabins are a bit cramped so it's a challenge to even get photos.)
