  1. Well, alrighty then! I posted this story simply to get it off my chest and to alert other cruisers (newbies?!?) of this quirk in NCL’s policies. To be honest, yes, I assumed Latitude points based on the fact that this was an … NCL sponsored tour as part of a bundle with a cruise where the NCL sponsored tour cost more than the cruise. I would think NCL would want to acknowledge Alaska cruisers with the corresponding points for taking the land tour. I see now that they don’t so, when asked if I will do a land tour again my answer will be - NO.
  2. I recently completed a 14-day cruise and land tour to Alaska aboard the NCL/Spirit. I received 7 Latitude points for my cruise but none for my land tour ... a tour promoted by NCL for which I paid MORE than I did for my cruise. I must admit to being irritated by the loss of those points since I wanted to do more cruises with NCL and was looking forward to a quick advancement to the second level of Latitudes. I do have 2 CruiseNext deposits and am committed to 2 future cruises but I will NOT take another land tour through NCL as long as the policy remains in effect.
  3. That’s a relief. I was getting worried about dress pants getting ruined.
  4. Thanks. Yeah, not happy with that option. Assume the laundry special will be toward the end of the cruise. Correct?
  5. I'll be aboard NCL/Spirit for a week in May followed by another week for an Alaska land tour. Concerned about laundry and can't find details. Finally found a note that says laundry/dry cleaning available. So ... what services? Self-served laundromats? Laundry services? Do I coordinate with my cabin steward to get that done? What is the price for what volume? Is that service available every day except perhaps the day before departure? I would assume they would need a day's turn-around time. Any information would be helpful. If there is another thread that addresses this issue, please direct me there. Thanks! RevZacc
  6. Hi sunsetjewel63!! Alaska has been on my bucket list for a long time so I'm quite excited for this cruise and land tour. Best wishes for your cruise. Would love to hear a report after you return home.
  7. I've considered MSC for future cruises, but I have the same concern you mentioned. Looking back on that cruise, do you feel any differently about it? It sounds like you would NOT recommend MSC for a solo US traveler.
  8. Thanks for some good advice. I'm not sure I could drink 3 drinks every day and do shore excursions. For this trip it sounds like I need to pay by the drink and use the Starbucks app. Thanks!!
  9. For several years I had a Starbucks on my regular driving route. Hated to move and leave that location. Wondering now ... would Starbucks package on the Norwegian Spirit be worth it? How many drinks would I need to have daily to break even? 2? 3? 4?
  10. My first cruise was a solo cruise -- post-divorce. I had to prove to myself that I could still live life without her. I spent 10 years single and learned to eat alone at restaurants all the time. Now, post-divorce #2 and retired I'm looking forward to a solo cruise. This time I'm concerned about dining because I've had gastric bypass surgery and am not sure what I'll be able to eat or how it will affect me. Easier to be alone rather than have to excuse/explain myself to my dinner companions.
  11. My very first cruise was solo (Inside cabin ~ Disney Wonder-2005) My second was with my 2nd {now ex-} wife (balcony ~ Disney Magic). My 3rd cruise will be solo on the NCL Spirit to Alaska in May 2023. Wondering how many cruises I can fit in over the next 5-10 years as I enjoy my retirement.
  12. Curious! I'd love to hear more about your Ireland trip. Were you part of a group (if so, what agency -- if you would recommend) or strictly solo.
  13. Fellow introvert. Solo traveler . Upcoming Alaska cruise in May 2023. Traveling with sister and niece (b.i.l. says he doesn't like boats 🚤 or crowds. 🤷‍♂️) Wondering if there will be meet & greet or if I'll be wandering around saying "hello" and hoping I won't get slapped.
