Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thanks for the real-life scenario on the same ship! That was another thing I was concerned about. But if there's several hundred people still trying to get on the ship, it's not like they're going to pull anchor and go right? 😉 My morning was the biggest concern. We got Priority access so will have room service breakfast, line up early, and I'm relieved that the scuba place is at the tender landing area. Just stinks that the day is so short so we can't really explore afterwards. In either case, sitting in a long line in Cabo to get back to free food and drinks beats the heck out of sitting in endless meetings and work projects in frigid New England.
  2. Thankfully we're the only ship in port that day. We're using Sunrider - hopefully as reputable as Cabo Adventures (and as easy to find). I'm assuming go between the Pharmacy and Senor Frog's and I can find them both down there - at least that's what it looks like on Google Maps' grainy pictures. I've been torturing myself all day looking at pics of the ports. These next two weeks are going to drag....
  3. I think we have almost 2 hours. My huge concern was that I thought the tenders landed at "La Terminal de Cabo" on the other side of the marina. I just found from more searching that they land next to the Navy Dock and it's a two minute walk to my tour instead of the 30 min one. Much relieved that I won't have to rush. Just not looking forward to standing in the long line of people I typically make fun of while leisurely eating my breakfast. With only 8 hours at Cabo, I guess this is what we're gonna have to do. Thanks for the info!
  4. Hi everyone, I know this has probably been asked but I wasn't able to find a thread that had the info. We're going on our first Mexican Riviera cruise and have an outside excursion booked in Cabo. I'm wondering about the tender situation on large ships like the NCL Bliss - do they use the life boats and is there a long wait either way? I've seen the lines to get back on the ship at Bar Harbor, ME (I live in New England) so am worried we may be fighting to get on and off the ship with the excursion I have booked.
  5. Ship - Breakaway Deck - 10 Stateroom # - 10282 Stateroom Category – balcony Starboard or Port Side - Port Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – open view, no obstructions Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? - No. Had some high winds but our balcony was much more protected than the Waterfront or sun decks during those times. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Technically in aft, but more mid ship than anything Any specific problems with this cabin? - Were toilet issues first day in many cabins, and more toilet issues elsewhere in the ship later in the cruise. So likely ship-wide plumbing issue (caused by flushing something that shouldn't have been?). Any other comments? - Went one previous cruise without knowing there are LARGE drawers under the couch. Than you YouTube for enlightening me, thought I'd pass that onto everyone else who was today years old finding this out. No USB plugs next to the bed like there were in the Encore, plenty of space on the vanity to charge everything.
  6. Thanks for all the extra feedback! Mom is looking to get the cruise entertainment, but I personally have concerns visiting a place for the first time when many things may be closed. I like to see the culture (and a day on the beach to warm up is always wonderful). And yes, 70 is warm (not hot) to me. Keeping in mind we'd be leaving and returning to NYC around 30-40, we'd probably not be able to enjoy outdoor decks while at sea. I'm not one of *those* NH people that enjoy outdoor activities where frostbite is a probable outcome. The whole ice bar idea on the last cruise was a hard pass for me when I was escaping cold weather. 😆
  7. That's a lot of data points... were seas as rough as I hear they can be, or is it hit or miss like anything else?
  8. Thanks for the intel! Apparently Mom is more interested in the entertainment rather than beaches, so hopefully it's warm enough docked at Bermuda for a couple days to make the balcony worth it.
  9. Debating adding one more trip to the end of this year, to take DH's mom on her first cruise. We can only do 5 days due to limiting issues, and Mom doesn't want to fly, so that leaves the only port in driving distance NY. Heard seas (especially in winter) out of NY can be rough, and also heard that Bermuda isn't that warm in December. We're from New England, so still warmer from home. Anyone gone on this and have pros/cons? Especially if taking a first timer? Ship is Norwegian Getaway if that makes a difference in navigating potentially rougher seas.
  10. Since the coffee is strong, I just poured ice in a cup at the buffet then poured hot coffee over it. Hubs has to have sugar, so melted his with hot coffee first. Slightly watered down, but when you need a pick me up after a long day of exploring and a nap, it totally does the trick!
  11. Thank you all! Still no callback from our PCC, so assuming he's taking time off. Did an online agent chat and they were able to look into it and remove the charge. He said it was due to the Air Department. Travelling with some NCL first timers, so told them to check their account so they don't have any more issues.
  12. Anyone else notice this recently? Hubs noticed on the app our April cruise (fully paid with prepaid service charges Dec 4th), is showing $183 due. Looking at the last emailed confirmation, the price of the cruise plus add ons (Prepaid DSC and insurance) is the same as we show online now. The payments total the same amount, so can't see where the extra $183 comes in. Hubs called PCC yesterday and left a message but still no callback - should I call the generic line?
  13. Thank you both so much! Wish I could put business travel on this, but sadly my company requires I use their travel card.
  14. Uggg... Booked April 2-9 to coincide with a family wedding and never thought of school vacations. In New England, it's typically the last 2 weeks of April, as noted by a couple posts earlier. Thank you for the warning and hoping the Spice H2O on the Breakaway sticks to the 18+ rule!!
  15. I've scanned pages of this thread and seen differing limits on points accumulation. Is there currently a limit per account? New to cruising and immediately got the bug, bit the bullet and got the NCL card with the introductory offer. Just trying to figure out how to maximize points, and already seeing that upgrades is the way to go!
