  1. Agreed! Inquiring minds want to know, @Jim Avery 🙂
  2. OYE!!! So sorry to hear that. I almost want to get the lasagna when we cruise in Sept just to see if they are still making mistakes.
  3. Yup. We were not going to risk it. So we will find something things to do in Haines. It has been touted as not touristy so that could be cool.
  4. Ah...Oops. I thought I was in another forum. hahaha...sorry. And congrats. I will sit over here and be jeally while I read about your awesome train ride.
  5. Hi FetaCheese 🙂 I really wanted to take the train in Skagway. The area without kids and the super comfy chairs looked awesome. Have you confirmed that your trip is stopping in Skagway? We are on the 9/7/23 AK cruise and they changed from Skagway to Haines. I'm bummed.
  6. Agreed! I love to hear about embarking in Seward and disembarking in Vancouver. Haha...and any and all other details you can share 🙂
  7. The info on the beer was almost as important as the cruise info. Sorry to hear about the crap show with disembarkation.
  8. Haha...Touché. But it is an experience. So that's a win.
  9. Thank you for that information. We are on the same itinerary in Sept. It is good to know what to expect. While you were in ports in Alaska, was it any better? If so, we can keep our internet usage minimal while on board and then make up for it while in port. Any other tips you have will always be appreciated 🙂
  10. Awesome!! I like your idea of a local brewery. We aim for the same thing. How was the cruise? We are doing the same route in Sept.
  11. Water proof - NOT water resistant!
  12. Apologies if this has been asked before 🙂 We have the SSBP. When ordering, will the waitress/bartender/etc. let us know if something is not included in the package? For example, if I asked for a glass of champagne but only prosecco is included, will they remind me that the item is excluded from the SSBP or just pour the champagne and charge us? I'm trying to be savvy since we are planning to book some of the more expensive excursions. We know there are obvious exclusions from the package due to reading the info about it. But I could not find anything specific in regards to my question above.
  13. Yes 🙂 Here are some youtube channels that I have found to be very helpful. The BEST one so far is Tips for Travellers. CruiseTipsTV had a very well rounded list of items to pack for any cruise and had the video where I saw her show the magnetic hooks and clips. Eat Sleep Cruise is pretty good as well. I believe I have watched their video about Viking dining options a few times.
  14. Checking in to see if there are any additional updates for any sea day activities.
  15. If you don't mind spending a little time on Youtube, there are several videos where experienced cruisers give "must have" packing lists and show the items discuss. Some provide a link to the specific item on Amazon.
  16. Bummer....thank you. Part of my trip planning is determine which venues are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and/or drinks only.
  17. In regards to lunch, are all dining venues open except for the 2 specialty restaurants? Or is the MDR only open for lunch on sea days?
  18. Question for those that might have gone on this excursion this year: Does anyone know if the crab legs are being limited to 1 per person? I was reading on another cruise line's forum that this year, the "feast" only included one crab leg in the price, however others were available for purchase. I know they several other protein items as well but we were hoping for a few more crab legs to be included. Thanks in advance 😃
  19. I am wondering if anyone has information on an excursion called Landmarks of Valdez Harbor by Catamaran? It is being offered from our cruise line but I cannot find any other information/details.
  20. If you want something other than a phone app, I recommend a Snooz. It's a small round white noise machine that can connect to your phone so you can control it from bed if you choose. We have 2 of them and love them. One is set up near our dog's kennel to help soothe him when we are gone and another is in our travel bags. It has helped out when hotels are noisy. It has several settings that help you find the perfect sound to cover up any extra noise. https://getsnooz.com
  21. @no1racefan1 This forum is another good one for items to bring on the cruise 🙂
  22. I was so disappointed when they said we are not stopping in Skagway.
  23. Awesome! I did not realize they would offer shuttles into town on embarkation day. Regarding lunch....I'm still weighing our options. We are hoping to take the Resurrection Bay Wildlife Cruise on the 2nd day so that would leave very little time to see the town of Seward so we are contemplating walking around the town and having lunch after arriving on the train.
  24. Thank you and @CAFs for the info. I think the additional information will help to ensure we keep our expectations in check. 💚
  25. Another few questions 🙂 Our room category, PV1, says that we can board the ship at 11am and our room would be ready around 1pm. We were thinking of spending time in Seward the first day and then boarding in the afternoon. Is there a specific time that we HAVE to be on the board the first day? I was also wondering if it is possible to drop off our bags with Viking and then head back into Seward. I know we do not leave Seward until the 2nd day, but I was wondering if Viking does any sort of 'sail away' party or anything special when leaving the first port?
