Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. thank you for everyone's help! i ended up going with Larry's Limo which was on the pricier side for sure, but the service was impeccable. i arranged a pickup at 8am and they had the driver waiting in the limo lot nearby at 7am, so when we finally stepped out at 8am, he was right there. both kids fell asleep in the car, and i noticed that the driver took turns a bit more slowly as to not wake them up. i would use them again in a heartbeat if i needed "for sure" transportation. I EASILY made the 11:10am flight out of FLL.
  2. we are coming back on Freedom of the Seas into Port Miami on a Monday morning, catching a 11:10am flight out of FLL, We are going to carry off our own luggage. i think we can maybe get off the boat at 8-8:30? i want to get private transportation from Port Miami to FLL, and i can't use uber/lyft because I'm traveling with 2 toddlers so i'll need car seats, and I want a private (not shared) transportation because of the very tight schedule we have to catch the flight. I don't want to be wringing my hands while waiting for another party. i've never had this tight of a schedule before, so i'm looking for the fastest transportation option, regardless of price (i cringe as i type those last words) thanks!
  3. I'm looking to rent a minivan (2 adults, 2 toddlers needing toddler seats) - we're flying into FLL but sailing out of port miami. i rented from avis a few years ago and got absolutely lost trying to find their location at 89 SE 2nd St. I must've circled the area 5 times before i found it. did anyone else have issues finding it? maybe the area was under construction at the time, but it was an absolute nightmare.
  4. Who/which website do you like to use?
  5. We are looking at icon sailing for the beginning of summer 2025 (first week of June) 2 adults, 2 kids in a junior suite current promotion is 60% off second/third/fourth guests. we have never tried sailing on a brand new ship before so I’m not sure of pricing trends. since it’s summer, there’s likely not going to be any “kids sail free” promos currently, for junior suites, the back of the ship and middle of the ship is all sold out. Would I be wise to just book it now? I usually go through *****, so if I cancel and rebook later, I probably just have to pay their “administrative fees” ($300?) which is relative peanuts for a $10-12k total fare……. I’m going on a cruise in 6 weeks, so I could book it before I leave the ship … but I may lose the 60% off each additional guest.
  6. short version: "is the 11:10am flight out of FLL with a 6am arrival into Port Miami doable with 2 kids in tow?" longer version: We will be doing a 3 night Freedom of the seas cruise out of port Miami. The itinerary says we are arriving into port at 6am on Monday morning. Southwest changed my departure time out of FLL from 12:30pm (safe bet) to 11:10am (risky) If it were only adults, even with FLL being 20 miles away, i think it is doable. However, I will be traveling with 2 toddlers (3 and 5 years old) and we would likely be taking the Royal Caribbean shuttle from the port to the airport since we won't have car seats with us (so no uber/lyfts) If i don't choose the direct flight at 11:10am, the flight/travel times go from 3 hours to 5-6hours with a layover, at best. If i fly out of MIA, the direct flight isn't until 5pm. is the 11:10am flight out of FLL with a 6am arrival into port Miami doable?
  7. Thanks! That would explain it. I’ve only been on freedom and oasis classes for my cruises.
  8. I’ve looked at deck plans, tried Google and the forums search……. what floor is Central Park on in ovation and/or quantum of the seas? our first cruise with toddlers was in a junior suite on harmony on the floor where Central Park was at. It was perfect because it was a non-stimulating area at 9pm to just walk around right before bedtime. but no deck plans explicitly says what floor Central Park is on. we’re looking at Alaska in July 2024 …..
  9. they've already got a decent number of wonder of the seas dates to choose from (a few dates in May, June and July). otherwise, they would sail on allure. we are thinking a week or 2 before thanksgiving to try to have a "less popular time" but again, we are rely on their offers before choosing a cruise. their next cruise is later this month..... I think they are "higher rollers" since they go every 3-4 months. also, do you guys ever see alaskan cruises as comp'ed cruises. we are wanting to go to Alaska in late 2024 on ovation/quantum..... it'd be nice for the in-laws to come along (to help out with toddlers), but not necessary.
  10. My in-laws get casino Royale free cruise offers frequently, and their current offers (they are US-based) go as far out as July. their offer sheet is titled "make it a week-long win-a-thon" I would like to cruise with them in November. I was planning on having them book their free cruise, then I'll get our cabin on the same ship. Obviously, I would like to book as far in advance as possible to save on cabin and airfare but also have the best selection of cabins (it's all relative, of course). for those get casino Royale offers, when can they expect to get offers for November sailings? thanks!
