  1. Apologies, purely thinking of passengers disembarking and going to the airport or home, not day tripping.
  2. I am not suggesting governments should use public transportation funds to provide subsides for tourist. My main gripe is still solely on the roads in and out of the area. If accessibility is an issue we cannot change, at the very least fix up the roads. I live near industry areas, landscaping businesses and a tip collection, I certainly do not see the same problems. Like during the Pandemic, the government does not see value in the cruising industry as most of the voters do not work on ships. Purely my point of view. Whether they fix up the roads, build public transport or not, I will still go cruising as it is the best value I can find for my money.
  3. Actually, believe or not, transportation has been subsidised/reduced at least once in the past ten years. Also, the bus zones have been merged to create larges zones. Example, I used to be in zone 7, now 2. It will never be as cheap as say Singapore due to population density, wages and fare dodgers and the security cost. This is unless the government chooses to absorb most of the cost, which isn't wrong since public transport is public and should be afforded to all, regardless of income.
  4. P&O doesn't. Or at least that's what the staff told me. Its all paid shuttles.
  5. Agreed. However, we also have to look at other ports in Australia. Being the second most cruised after Sydney, tourist would expect better. The terminal itself is great, don't get me wrong. But we are already so far from civilisation compared to OPT, MEL Wharf, Cairns wharf, Hobart, at the very least, fix up the road. Have some better signages and make it less like your driver is going to jack you and dispose your body for the bull sharks. The staff onboard the ships used to come down and go to Woolies at Portside. Now it is too costly for they to do so.
  6. The CLO (Customer Liaison Officer) responded with the same spill from the templated email. Therefore confirming standard cruise fare will receive the $25 too. Let's see if anyone with standard fare gets it. Else, I will let you know on the 10th of Dec and let you know .
  7. On the side note, which may have been mentioned. Can they fix up the road getting into BICT. Always have to snake left and right to avoid potholes. I do not think that this is the impression Brisbane wants tourist to have. As for a RCL ships, Quantum has itineraries up to 28 March 2025 and no Transpacific after. Ovation does. Is this a hint of things to come? Or does anyone know why?
  8. $65 X 57 night is 3.7K. Personally, I will feel less pressure spending the $3.7K ala carte than trying to seek value for the package: - Beverage package => I can drink a glass max a day, but will fall sick after a week. Mostly we drink tea or water due to the amount of sugar we consume as part of the cruise. - Desserts => Max once a week, shared. Besides, just go for MDR ice-cream or swirls. - Fitness class => The stairs and gym are there. Also, if we do not consume too much of the first two, we will be fine. There are also free classes beyond the paid ones. - 2 casual dining => It was free previously... Just saying. Also, 2 meals in 57 days is a drop in the ocean for value. - Ocean Now| Room delivery => Once again, previously free.... But maybe it is a good thing. If I need to go get my own food and I might reconsider that extra slice of pizza. And if I still do, I will have to walk for it. -Wifi => Cruise mate. Ditch the internet. If you go to shore, use it by all means. All in all, personally packages do not make any sense for me. I recommend all to calculate if it does for you. And if it is of a couple of dollars value to you. I encourage all to think about their health. Finally, I must say, I left P&O to try Princess for all the bells and whistles it had. The gap between the two is diminishing.
  9. So I am very curious as to why some are credited with and some are not even while on board and I contacted the Live Chat. The first thing she said was that I am not entitled to the OBC as I bought a standard cruise fare. This is false as the email clearly stated standard cruise fare as well. She then backpaddled and said it is for purchases before 14 Dec and I bought my 31 Jan. I highlighted again this is not true as purchases refer to the Plus/Premier bundles bought before 14 Dec; which is of a different price. Furthermore, if I am not entitled to the OBC, why was I sent the email then? So she said there is nothing she can do except give me the feedback email to Princess to pursue the matter. Once again, seems like a drag for 4 x $25 OBC (which ultimately goes back to them), but I have emailed them and waiting for a response. Originally, I wanted to spend how I normally do and pay the excess on top of OBC. Now out of spite, I feel like just spending whatever OBC I get and stop after. $400 + 2 specialty vouchers should be enough for a 12 days without excursions.
  10. I am on a standard, hence should not be affected by when I booked. I received the email and read it as such. Well, I can push for it, but may not be worth my time for $25 x 4 passengers.
  11. Same. Tempted to contact Princess. As it seems to be a hit and miss.
  12. I believe thats the rule where it has to be at the last australian port.
  13. I meant cruise selling alcohol. The ones you can only purchase on international waters and collect on leaving the ship. I guess I got my answer. Like casinos, these products will not need to follow Australian laws/taxation whilst on international which is completely different from a product purchased in Australia leaving Australia. As the product hasn't reached another country, TRS cannot apply.
  14. T Thanks. Being a greenhorn to TRS, I wonder the difference between the cruise selling duty free on international waters vs us claiming GST leaving Australian waters. Maybe it is to do with the actual sale taking place in international waters by Princess vs me buying in Australia and bring it to international waters.
  15. Hi, digging up this thread for a question. What is the criteria for claiming GST? My understanding is it needs to be international. But beyond that, it is very unclear to me. We talk about cruises and duty free shops operating in open waters, does this mean that a 3 days open water cruise can claim GST? Or does it need to be around the waters of say Willis island? Will be travelling on a 12 days South Australia cruise and unsure if it meets the criteria: https://www.princess.com/cruise-search/details/?voyageCode=8339
  16. If it is Shareholder OBC, you will see it stated as that. I have not received my $25, so I do not know how it will be labelled (e.g. Goodwill now you can eat pizza - $25). Seeing your sail is the 4th of Nov, makes sense they do it ahead of time for you.
  17. When are you cruise off? I thought they mentioned only added on day of sailing.
  18. I heard there is no more queue for it. Maybe the only positive if I decided to pay for it 😅
  19. They should just grandfather everyone before the change. Otherwise, where is the line drawn? E.g. Tomorrow they can change it to "All standard fare are only allowed to dine at the buffet for only 1 hour in sequence of your deck."? 🤣
  20. Allegro is the tucked away MDR isn't it? How cheeky trying to hide it.
  21. I got my shareholder OBC. The 25 will be issued on the first day of sailing.
  22. I am on Majestic on 10 Dec and got the AUD $25~ email today.
