  1. Royal class ships are newer. While the Grand class ships are in fine condition, you have to set your expectations with the plumbing. When the plumbing works, Grand class ships are great. When the plumbing doesn't work (whether or not it's the passengers fault), Grand class ships can be miserable. Have had everything from bathroom leaking into my cabin and/or the corridor to not having being able to flush my toilet for hours at a time to having the water in my cabin shut off for hours to fix a greater problem. If you eat at the buffet a lot, Grand Class ships aren't my favorite for that type of dining. Grand class ships are pushing 20 years or more. They aren't shiny like they once were. While the actual wrap around promenade is great, how much time will you plan on spending out there?
  2. Verbally give your cabin number to the crew. Unless the passenger is crazy and has a privacy problem with stating their cabin number out loud.
  3. Even though there are signs prohibiting refilling personal drink receptacles from the buffet dispensers, passengers do it any way. Don't be "one of them" and have respect for other passengers. Take a clean cup or mug, fill that from the dispenser, and then fill your cup.
  4. Someone who’s sailing in 2/2024 revived the thread.
  5. Sounds like the offer code to get the lower fare is valid on new bookings only. If you want to refare, you'd have to cancel the original booking, effectively canceling the EZAir booking, and start a new booking for the same cruise. Some CVPs know how to lift the air from cancelled bookings to new bookings in the case of refares that require new bookings.
  6. My young blood runs hot all the time in Hawaii regardless of the time of year. Can't get enough of the air con. I know Hawaiians wear leggings when the weather drops to the 60s. Over reaction. Depending on the rain, umbrella can useful or useless, since it's tropical rain.
  7. Bring a lightweight jacket...maybe a cardigan. Not worth packing for the cold as it will just take up extra space in you suitcase. If it's cold, most people steer clear of the outdoor decks the first couples of days to and back. Even if it rains in Hawaii, you won't want to be wearing a jacket because it's hot. If you wear a jacket in the rain in Hawaii, you'll stay drier than you would have otherwise, but you'll be drenched in sweat.
  8. Princess is creating unnecessary congestion at check-in, so that people will cave into purchasing a package or pay for the shipping. This Sunday, check-in at San Pedro was a mess. My friends got there at 11:00 am and the line stretched out to the sidewalk. Thanks to their heads up, we showed up at 1:30 pm and breezed right through. We were told at check-in that the ship would be late departing because there were passengers still at the airport waiting to be picked up because there were only 3 coaches reserved and the first set of transfer passengers weren't off loaded the buses until 1:00 pm due them having to stop check-in. Those 3 coaches were expected to ferry between LAX and San Pedro to pick up hundreds of transfer passengers. This new Green/Blue Lane Princess has implemented isn't efficient and ultimately frustrates passengers. In addition, it favors passengers from the US and Canada. Princess should just use the QR code generated in the boarding pass of the App as for it's intention, A BOARDING PASS FOR INITIAL ENTRY ON TO THE SHIP, and leave Medallions in passenger staterooms for collection after embarkation. It will save them from having to maintain a fulfillment facility in Asia, save them on shipping costs (it's hard to believe that $10 covers the cost of shipping from so far away, even with a shipping contract), and save them on packaging costs (boxes/envelopes). By not having to pick up Medallions at check-in (speaking for the Blue Lane), port agents will not have to waste time fetching/looking for Medallions. Check-in will be a lot more efficient and the lines will move a lot faster. (Note that Holland America and Carnival, which are under the CCL umbrella, don't hand out cruise cards at check-in; they are waiting for passengers in their cabin.) Royal Caribbean can board their 6000 passenger mega-ships with minimal lines.
  9. Global Experience Innovators (and their outsourced counterparts) = 💩iest app developer ever.
  10. Medallions aren't activated until check-in at the port. Until then, it's useless. By the time you check-in you'll have an absolute and final cabin assignment.
  11. In my experience, Princess usually sends and e-mail. Sometimes it can end up in your spam folder. If you stay in the same category, the e-mail will come as a new Booking Confirmation e-mail. If you've been upgraded, the e-mail will come as an Upgrade Notification. If Princess changes your cabin a 2nd time (it does happen, usually an upgrade), then these don't usually entail any sort of notification. You'll have to check your Travel Summary or the app. If you don't receive a cabin assignment notification a month prior to sailing, start checking your Travel Summary or app with frequency.
  12. Relax. It's a new poster. This person just joined the forum.
  13. First, congrats on the refare. I think you are getting fully paid and final payment confused. You can refare as many times as you want so long as final payment deadline hasn’t passed. It doesn’t matter whether you have fully paid for the cruise or not. The key date is Princess’ final payment deadline. Unless, you’re on a sailing over 28 days Princess, final payment is 90 days before sailing. For sailings over 28 days, it’s 6 months before sailing.
  14. They are buried. The most common problem with those in line at Ocean Front is that passengers don't know where the functions are in the new app. On the old app, most of these were on the homepage. I only know because I've been spending (wasting) lots of time at Ocean Front trying to get help with my login problem. My girlfriend and I get this parental control consent when we login using login/username and booking number. It's perplexed the Ocean Navigators on board because we are in our mid-30s, aren't sailing with our parents, nor do we have our booking linked with anyone in our group. There's one other poster who has posted that has encountered this problem and has stated he/she is 73. Trying to get this fixed on board while there is a direct contact. Been called down to the Ocean Front desk several times by the navigators only to be disappointed. The same message appears when logging in using the ship's Samsung tablet that is used to troubleshoot problems.
  15. I don't have access to the new Princess Cruises App onboard because there is a parental control that no one can seem to figure out how to bypass on my account. My friend let me borrow her phone and app to allow me to poke around. What I've noticed so far... Lots of functions are buried under the Profile tab (folio, Internet packages, FCD purchase). The shore excursions are buried under the Ship Schedule. In order for you to see/purchase the shore excursions in each port, you have to scroll to that particular day. Too much scrolling/pressing the forward button to get to the correct day, especially if the port is at the end of your cruise. Shore excursions don't show as a continuous list for all ports like in the old app. There's an icon for the Lotus Spa, but it only takes you to a page that compasses you to the Lotus Spa, no ability to book appointments. Makes this function superfluous, except for as being an ad for the service. Ocean Front has been super busy on this cruise. Lots of people don't know how to use the new app and are afraid to explore it on their own. It's compounded by the number of people that need coaching on how to connect to MedallionNet or how to switch devices.
  16. I beg to differ. The new blood to Princess cruisers are still over 50. If they want to be multi-generational cruise line that I think they are after, their marketing should change.
  17. For the love of everything, please ditch the Love Boat focus. The generation that actually watched this show is nearing their end. The re-runs aren't televised, as compared to The Golden Girls. Princess is going to need new marketing to attract new blood cruisers.
  18. If you click on the Luggage Tags icon on the Princess Cruises App, it will open the Luggage Tag/Travel Summary page of your Cruise Personalizer on the Princess website. Click on Travel Summary to see your transfers there. The agents at the airport will have your name on a list. No need to show anything nor will you be issued vouchers. If they can't find your name on a list, they will write your names down and make you sign to purchase the transfer. You can then show your Travel Summary to GS onboard and have them remove the charges for the transfer if you were double charged
  19. The new app thinks I'm underage. When my girlfriend and I connected to MedallionNet once on board, the Princess Cruises App kicked us both out and said we needed to have our parents consent to using the app. Took it to the Ocean Navigators and they created a ticket. We both have no access to the Princess Cruises App and now have to use the old Medallion App. Being in our mid-30s, we knew were on the young side for cruising Princess, and the new Princess Cruises App just validated that.
  20. Transfers were never/are not shown in the app. The transfers can be found in the Itinerary tab of your Cruise Personalizer and/or the Itinerary section of your Travel Summary. Transfers will show as the first line item in both locations. The transfers will also show as a line item in the Invoice section of your Travel Summary.
  21. In the Med check-in lines aren't really a problem, because a certain percentage of the passengers will be in transit. It's not until the ship transitions to a TA that the majority of the ship will disembark.
  22. Not surprised. The Ocean Medallion staff can be very arrogant at times. It's their job to defend the App.
  23. Crown isn't my favorite ship. The mattresses leave a lot to be desired. Not up the Princess Luxury Bed standards and all need to be replaced. Also, every time I've been on the Crown there's a public area of the ship that smells like sewage. Skipping SF cruises, despite it being my homeport, until the Ruby returns in the fall of 2024. SF was pretty spoiled with the Royal Princess during the restart. I think you have to realize that it's really never smooth sailing from California. The Pacific Ocean is a different beast.
  24. This must be the new Medallion design and Princess must have cycled through the old stock. They ditched the SES advertising on the back via the sticker since passenger Internet provider is now Starlink.
