Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I watched your review on the Scarlet Lady last night and I loved how thorough you explained everything, great work. I've been on Princess seven times, Carnival twice and Disney once. I really loved Disney and just the overall ambiance, food quality, entertainment, etc., However I have sailed the most with Princess so I have platinum status now and noticed that VV matches status so that is a draw. The added amenities in the base price seem a lot better than what you get anywhere else. On my most recent cruise with Princess I felt nickeled and dimed about every little thing, plus with their new changes to plus and premier packages I still don't feel the value in adding those. Also as you mentioned the photographers are getting more aggressive and I'm sorry I don't care about the artwork auctions and guess the value of this sculpture pitches. Anyways I really appreciate the feedback, video, suggestions. Thank you so much.
  2. Very interesting about the following you mentioned "No announcements, no photographers, no art auctions, no cruise director, no lines, no jewelry extravaganzas, and no flea markets in the main dining room." The only thing I would question would be the lack of a cruise director to manage all the fun. However the rest of it can get lost into oblivion. haha.
  3. Very good to know, I appreciate the feedback. I'll check the youtube video you suggested.
  4. I've been a cruiser with several other lines but with a lot of things changing on other lines I've grown interested in Virgin Voyages. A lot of things are included such as tips, fitness classes, etc., that I would have to pay extra for on the other lines. I'm genuinely curious about reviews of Virgin Voyages. How is the entertainment shows, comedians, etc.,? Movies at sea? Game shows? The food quality and selection? Is there same time/wait staff dining or is it all any time? I have status with another line which I would match to Virgin which is great so I'm tempted to try them out. My wife and I are 37 and 33 respectively, we don't drink but still love to have fun with all the activities and such. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Awesome! Thank you so much. This is great info
  6. I have Platinum Status for Princess but I have never really used any of the perks yet. I'm curious as one of the perks is 50% internet. multi device- 4 devices. Are those specific to devices that are on my booking # or those tied to my room? I guess I'm just curious if I could share that with our friends in a neighboring room. Thanks!
  7. Yes that is a great one, I do that and plan on suggesting it.
  8. Thank you for both posts of your tips and tricks. Helpful for putting together my sheet for my friends. So many are things I've always have done but just haven't thought about when explaining to others. haha.
  9. Haha same! My last one was 2018, due to the covid shutdown and just not having the time with so many other things. Much needed vacation. Where are you going in July?
  10. Hello everyone! I've been on 8 cruises, my 9th in July. We are going with some friends who have never been on a cruise before and I'm trying to put together a list of tips and tricks. I've scoured the board and comments of other threads to start piecing together a list but thought I would post my own thread to gather more data. I'm looking for things like buying additional outlet splitter or a usb hub, hooks for the magnetic walls in the cabin, back dinner clothes in your carry on, Do's/dont's, etc., We are going on a Princess cruise specifically if that makes any difference. Thanks! Andy
  11. I have yet to do a Royal Caribbean. I've been on Princess, Carnival and Disney. I always make it a point to eat local cuisine whenever I'm in port. I know that's additional cost because you get free food on the ship but there is something fun about experiencing the local food establishments. Have a great trip! It's been 4 years since my last cruise and I can't wait for my next one in July.
  12. Both of these are great options. When I went in 2016 we took the transfer from Anchorage to Whittier. It's significantly cheaper than going through the cruise line. https://alaskacruisetransfer.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw5pShBhB_EiwAvmnNV_hh6MvZGYNwMWDNsp1Lojxp8ZSBOXn8UmJlP7XV0V5ZsBs-AbOAwRoCx98QAvD_BwE https://www.whittierbus.com/prices
  13. Deckhand Dave's is amazing! My wife and I visited on a cruise back in 2016, still to this day she asks me if we can take a flight from SLC to Juneau to just get tacos. Luckily for her we are going on the same cruise in July 2023 on the Majestic. I look forward to eating these tacos again.
