Good Morning! I am trying to decide which cruise to go on next, there are really great deals on the Mariner of the Seas and the Adventure of the Seas. The itineraries are almost the same, has anyone been on either or both? Any favorites? Thanks, Mitch

Hoards of singles...no, and I have been on an Atlantis cruise. I can only share my personal experience as a single dad of 2 sons, I am a bodybuilder so that has to be taken into the equation.. I will divide this up into 3 classes, because that is how I distinguish cruise lines. Inexpensive- Yes on these short 3/4 night cruises out of ANY Florida port, on day 2 it can begin to feel a bit meat market like, but I have found if you hold firm, be polite, most will leave you alone. Most people on vacation are a bit friendlier than they might usually be, they might drink a bit more, but if you stay firm and say you are just wanting to enjoy this short time away from work, they will leave you be. Now if you want to not be left alone? Going swimming instead of going to see a show after dinner, it really does work. Mainstream-This can be hot or miss, depending on the length of the cruise or the departure port. I am a gym rat, I train hard, I relax hard. By day 2 if you want to get picked up spend some time in the thermal area of the Spa, you know those heated ceramic lounges? They should have a sign on them says Please Bother me Even though I look like I am Sleeping. Or in the Solarium. I find on these cruises, it is durning dinner that things can get akward, After getting to know each others table mates you might feel pressured into taking an excursion with someone or they will tell you about bar or a restaurant in a certain port. It can be akward relizing you have to politly keep saying no while you have an hour left to eat. Its hit or miss, I have met some really cool men and women at dinner, and sometimes you click and things work out fine. Bars are always worse after 10 in my opinion on these cruises. Luxury - If you really want to be left alone, these cruises are for you. You will meet mostly freindly couples, who have saved up a long time for this cruise, and its more couples orientated. I have still met or been "adopted" by some amazing couples or sometimes groups of freinds on a cruise and Have never had a bad experience on these ships. If you are looking for a wild time luxury cruises will not be for you. Any questions just email me , Mitch

Hi Steve, I agree with everything you say, but have a small hope. I am steeel reading reviews on some newer ships so I always have hope. My sons constantly look forward to new ships, It is getting to be an expensive trip with some of the of upscale lines. Thanks Steve for responding. Mitch

Have any of you guys heard anything about Princess's new Sun Princess, she looks really cool, if she has separate sauna/steam for men? I was hoping since she was brand new class she might have one or the other? Has the sauna excel sheet been fixed yet? Thanks, Mitch

I am beginning to dread when I see the words "renovated, refreshed, refurbished, and the worst one, AMPLIFIED." I have no issues with adding new features, I just do not support taking things away. Have you cruised on the Pinnacle Class yet?

Yes! one steam and one sauna, I was last aboard 4 years ago and it was free, but not sure if that was because we were in a suite. I did a back to back cruise and utilized this wet area a lot! Hey it was a journey of several mistakes a long they way, and ya I definitely checked every closeted gay box out there 🙂 I could have been a poster boy for every closeted gay stereotype:) 🙂

This thread is quite a read! So right off the bat I was closeted most of my life up to and including the first couple of years of my marriage. I threw myself into all sports, got hooked on wrestling, bodybuilding, basically anything that I could do to be with guys while closeted. The only reason I brought this up is I have been into cruising for awhile, and I have been the "straight dude" while an aggressive gay man was hitting on me as well as other drunk passengers who like to use my biceps as their squeeze toy. In my experience on a ship with a couple of thousand people, you are going to run into all types, from people just being friendly in their own way, who might seem to come on a bit aggressive, to outright jerks. A cruise ship literally is a slice of humanity. You cant control the actions of others, you have 100% control over your reactions. Encounter someone rude, just brush it off, don't take it personal. I can remember me trying to chat with other guys on cruises, and I probably came across as a jerk or a cool guy would talk to me but I was secretly into him so I was probably not friendly. Lets face it gay men have baggage, it is not an excuse, it just is what it is. I cruise now with my son, and I tell him just try to be yourself, smile, listen. A cruise is even when it was awkward for me a great chance to meet so many different people all in a short time. Also give people some space to get to know you, they might be feeling exactly what you are feeling, and as I tell my son, you do not have to always be talking, people appreciate listeners. As a general rule of thumb I will admit I am partial to European cruises, for friendliness factor. Except for some aggressive smokers and drinkers, I find on those cruises I make the most amazing connections and always have a great time. I also and I am not sure why but similar to the one gay cruise I was on, the crew on my European cruises seemed more friendly? Mitch

Can you describe the Viking ships wet area? Is it single sex or coed?

I am so disappointmented with the "shrinking " of facilities, as ships get large I would love to see in increase in the sizes of the wet areas! A large crowd in a sauna or steam is always welcome.
