Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Hello. I'm not new to cruising, but I am new to Princess and will be making my first voyage on the Princess Sun on June 8th for 2 weeks. I seem to be finding conflicting information about the continued existence of Churchill's within the Princess line. Does anyone know if the Sun Princess has a smoking lounge or other designated area for cigar smokers? I apologize, I have searched, but have not found an answer. I appreciate any help provided.
  2. @laudergayle@BostonjetsetDid your cruise skip a port (Acapulco)? Maybe the $21 OBC was a refund of port charges??
  3. I will let you know. I'm on a 15 day cruise and we have about 1/2 sea days (anticipating not porting in Acapulco due to storm damage - earlier itineraries have skipped it and made it a sea day instead). This will be my first time with a Vibe pass and since it sold out so early it became sort of a "fear of missing out" thing for me. I've read nothing but positive reports about it so I decided to book it when I saw it was once again available. I did the Free at Sea Plus upgrade as well so I'll try to use some of those unlimited internet minutes to update this thread while on board.
  4. I'm on the Bliss sailing out of Miami on Dec 4th and the Vibe has been unavailable to book for a couple of months. Well I happen to look again today with 7 days to go (I was told to watch it, just in case) and I was able to book Vibe. I don't know if someone cancelled or they were holding some or if they released some that they had held, but at least 1 was available today.
  5. I'm a huge fan of hash browns (as shown above, not the formed "puck" style) over country potatoes or similar style. On the Getaway earlier this month I did see the "pucks" occasionally in the buffet and even though Taste had a breakfast item with the option of hash browns or country potatoes listed, hash browns were NOT available. I hope I can find some on the Bliss in 2 weeks.
  6. I will agree with this (certain cards are exempt). I have Amex Delta, Hilton and Bonvoy and have never seen an NCL offer on any.
  7. Effective October 22nd you will be in for a 30 minute walk to exit the port area. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/barcelona-pushes-cruise-ships-city-110149948.html
  8. Yes, shuttles both ways. I was off the ship pretty early so I had no wait for the shuttle into town, but getting back to the boat I was in line for about 30-40 minutes. I didn't hear anything about people being left behind, but I think it's important to plan for a line on the return if you are coming back later in the day. Enjoy your cruise!
  9. Very much like everyone else, I was on the Jewel 7-31 to 8-7 and had to tendering in any ports. My trip was Seward to Vancouver.
  10. I was on the Jewel in Alaska in August and they did not have any cold/flu medicine on board. Thankfully the drug store in Juneau was fully stocked (very little available in downtown Seward).
  11. I sailed from Tahiti to Honolulu on the Spirit in April and I did get charged taxes on my drinks while in Hawaiian waters and ports. Here is a clip from my final invoice..... 04/22 Service Charge 20.00 04/22 9876 The Local 0.31 04/23 108 The Local 1.08 04/23 2910 Henry's Pub 0.66 04/23 2916 Henry's Pub 1.13 04/23 3927 Atrium Cafe 0.26 04/23 3928 Atrium Cafe 0.26 04/23 Service Charge 20.00 04/23 6385 Great Outdoors 0.93 04/23 6395 Great Outdoors 1.86
  12. I will re-iterate what was MY experience. On my August cruise in Alaska aboard the Jewel while traveling solo I was able to get 2 $50 credits in a single port. At the time I booked them, my T&C's did say it was per excursion, not per port.
  13. Not sure I understand your comment? The BOGO offer for a solo traveler is stated as being 50% for the individual (since there is no GO). And being that I am flying one-way only, it would be 1/2 the one-way fare. As for the website problem, it kept showing flight costs that where considerably higher than a standard R/T, even though it was one-way. In my case it was quoting something like $800 for the one-way flight from LA to Miami, but only $400 if I wanted the R/T. Again, I was told NCL is aware of this issue. Not trying to argue, just clarifying my post. Have a great day!
