Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thanks Sande for explaining the normal system, it's so crazy that he was this lucky! You would think if Royal Caribbean just does this random giveaway to one or two people per cruise they'd advertise it! We were all on Celebrity Reflection last month and he was on the water volleyball team when the passengers managed to beat the ship's officers in a best of 3 matchup. The officers were undefeated since early 2021! The team's prize, while cute, was they all got a Celebrity hat!!!
  2. Oddly enough he's a college senior and says he put $20 on the card to do some slots. He's a pretty careful kid when it comes to his hard earned money!! A few of his friends spent about $100 but nothing big. This must have been just a real random giveaway. Neat that RC does this!!!
  3. My daughter's BF is on an RC cruise with his buddies and just received one of these. It says he is awarded with a cruise for two. The QR code linked to a massive list of cruises all Balcony or Junior Suite. Nice!! It needs him to accept it by tonight and give a $200 deposit, which he's doing, but he has 30 days to choose a cruise. (or more I think but giving up some other bonus perk)... Can someone please fill us in on the details of this? It gives options of where to book the cruise: through the casino reservation center, or through RCI App, or to "contact your travel advisor" Advice? And is this a rare thing? None of his other 6 friends got one so he's pretty psyched.
  4. I would like to ask if it is only cans? I saw one travel site that says cans or "cartons" of soda, juice, or water no larger than standard 17 oz. What is a carton, is it like juice boxes? Are plastic bottles OK?
  5. Reading some of these responses makes me sad. $18 a day is still reasonable and fair. To the hundreds of service workers on every ship who work 12 plus hours a day, SEVEN days a week, for 6-8 month contracts (Be honest, how many of you would do that?). The workers who are in the shared tipping pool get paid an average of $600 a month for 360 hours. And the share about doubles that. Does anyone really feel they have to withhold those distributed gratuities from these hard working people?
  6. Wow! That is crazy! I just linked my friend's two room reservations with mine. We totally trust each other but seriously that's kind of a scary responsibility.... Celebrity definitely needs to change that!!
  7. My daughter and I like the british designed CabinMax style carry ons that are a backpack. They are exactly the size Norwegian/Norse, Ryanair, Easyjet, etc. which means pretty much all the budget airlines. They're about 40-42 liters, firmish canvas rectangles with zippered compartments, and they hold a LOT. 8-10 outfits. We have used them on month long trips and only did laundry once and on several 16-18 day trips. Amazon and some of the other brands have copied them so there are plenty to choose from now.
  8. larka, can you mention please the names of a few hotels who do this? Tried to google search and I looked at 2 that said they definitely don't do that. Anyone got a suggestion?
