  1. The problem is that there is no set time for spring break. Many districts in the Northeast usually have it the week before or after Easter, while other districts in other areas of the country have it a set week like the second week of March. We used to always cruise around Labor Day, but even with many districts already back at school, today's parents think nothing of taking their precious darlings out of school for a week.
  2. We were hoping for a show & drinks that we would pay 49pp for, similar to what is charged at specialty dinners. An extra 200 on top of that for a meal puts it out of what we deem reasonable. The drinks I've seen on YouTube do seem to be really nice though.
  3. The Island was built in 2003 and is 92 K tons so it could possibly be similar to the first ship you sailed on back in the day.
  4. As a Carnival Corporation stock holder, I wish to thank you and all of the other old time Princess cruisers that enjoy what you consider as old time classy and I consider as old time rust bucket. We cruise for the ship and would only consider the Royal and Sphere Classes since we have 35 days booked on the Enchanted, 28 booked on the Sun and another 28 booked on the Star. And one final thought, if you think the Royal Class on Princess looks like "wretched excess", it's obvious that you have never sailed on one of the Joe Farcus designed ships on Carnival, which resembled a Pepto Bismol theme at times.
  5. Was it 149 pp, or with the extra 18% on top of it?
  6. There is a canned equivalent that is available at Java Blue as well as the majority of bars. It replaced San Pellegrino a few years ago on Carnival.
  7. Please refresh my memory. When you buy FCD's on board, is the dollar amount charged attached to your credit card or is it attached to your on board account. If attached to your on board account, it can be paid off via gift cards. For some reason I thought it was charged automatically to our credit card, so we would lose the 8% gift card discount. Thanks
  8. The 10 days includes 3 days at sea, 4 stops in Canada, as well as 2 in New England. The IC is a 24 hour cafe that you can get breakfast sandwiches, pastries, snacks, fruit, coffee etc throughout the day. The Island doesn't have this and many do miss it when sailing on her. It boils down to what is important to you. The ship itself is over 20 years old and holds the second least amount of cruisers. Only you can decide what is important to you. If you have to do this itinerary in 2025, then your decision is made. You can also wait until 2026 schedule comes out to see the time parameters and the ship choice for this itinerary. You can always put a deposit down on the 2025 sailing and then switch it if a 2026 sailing on a different ship or different date works better for you.
  9. It's a super secret off site lounge that requires a special handshake given to the gate keeper in order for you to be admitted.
  10. Instead of club soda, adding San Pellegrino sparkling water makes it even better.
  11. Obviously since you have made the decision to roll the dice and fly in the morning of embarkation, your decision as to whether to fly into LGA or NWK should be determined by cost of flight and arrival time of flight. Obviously choose a non stop flight and depending upon the cost and arrival times for each of the two airports, it should hopefully be an easy decision for you.
  12. The reserve access for the dome would be those that have Premier package, right?
  13. We currently also have 35 days booked on the Enchanted over three different sailings. We have cruised on the Excel Class of Carnival 9 times and have thoroughly enjoyed it. With 2000 less passengers on the Sphere Class on a ship based on the same platform, we know we're going to enjoy it. Princess dropped the ball with not having all of their ducks in a row regarding various aspects of the ship and also not having their staff fully trained on the new Class of ship. By the time the Star comes out, tweaks that have to be made will be done and hopefully many of the staff will switch over from the Sun and be helpful in training new staff that are not used to the Sphere Class size ships.
  14. If the powers that be do think this was an epic fail it should hopefully be fixed when the Star comes out. Also, it's been reported that 75% of passengers have either the Plus or Premier so they can just go to a bar to get a soda, bottle of water or alcoholic choice to consume with their lunch.
  15. We have not yet sailed on the Sun. We will be on her for 14 days over Halloween and another 14 days in January. We also have 14 booked on the Star in November of 2025 and another 14 in February of 2026.
  16. How can you possibly find the Yes/No game show boring & redundant? It's a show unique to Princess that we find to be entertaining. Especially when my DW lasted about 20 seconds.
  17. You honestly think a 20 year old rust bucket is better than a brand new state of the art ship? That's why there is vanilla and chocolate, different flavors for different people. There are old school Princess cruisers that won't cruise on the Royal Class, so obviously there will be those that won't cruise on the Sphere Class either. Luckily you still have the older ships that you're comfortable with until they retire as scrap metal in Turkey.
  18. Glad to hear that your opinion was that everything was better on the Sun compared to your previous cruises. Do have a question though. If you ate on deck six early how come you weren't locked into that for the entire duration of the cruise? I was under the impression that you were either assigned six early, six late, seven with reservations or seven without reservations.
  19. San Pellegrino is in a bottle so there's no plastic waste drinking that as well.
  20. You'll get 100 in OBC with your 12 day and 50 with your 5 day. Is the 5 day on the Sun?
  21. So under the Princess scenario, you'd still be looking up, but just from a location a little bit further south. 😄
  22. Once again since your statement was just an arbitrary statement about a balcony cabin, I guess I will have to infer that it's a cabin on an unnamed Celebrity ship. Since we prefer to sail on new ships with a package, there is nothing for us that X currently provides that brings us value since their basic package provides bar level alcohol and no longer includes gratuities . Have sailed on them nine times since the 90's on each class of ship they have. Will not sail on them again. Sorry to ruffle the feathers of the Celebrity faithful, but many loyal X cruisers have left the flock for greener pastures based upon the recent changes that Celebrity has made. Enjoy your last minute deal with no package on your unnamed ship in the Celebrity fleet.
  23. If you're chillin in heaven, wouldn't you be looking down?
  24. It took 48 hours for Stockperks to verify my stock ownership and approve my 500 in OBC for my August Enchanted and October Sun cruises. Will have another 750 approved for our various 2025 cruises starting on November 1, 2024.
  25. What are you talking about Mark? A little more context as to the point you're attempting to make would enable an intelligent back and forth happen. Making an out of context statement brings nothing to the table and this thread comparing X and Princess. And it's value, not valve.
