  1. True, but it's non refundable OBC. So unless I cashed 95% out through the casino, it needs to be spent. We usually book inside cabins, don't do excursions and save 8% with gift cards, so splurging on the Premier is cheaper than doing many excursions or staying in a balcony cabin.
  2. Following with a deep heart. For the first time ever had to cancel a cruise. Have 28 with Carnival (184 nights) and 63 overall, but my wife had a medical problem crop up and we ended up getting nailed with a 75% penalty. Stuff happens. Looking forward to our next cruise in August on the Enchanted Princess for a 14 day repo cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Brooklyn with stops in Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Dominica, Barbados, St. Maarten and San Juan. Will be looking forward to your happenings over the 10 days.
  3. They would have to do this for those that decide to upgrade on board to the Premier package utilizing OBC. It's 280 to upgrade from Plus over 7 days for two people. We'll have 150 in OBC, so it'll only cost us 130.
  4. The shows though that have the reserved Premier seating are the large production shows in the main showroom, not the smaller venue dome shows.
  5. Thank you for being one of many old time Princess cruisers that enjoy sailing on one of the older smaller nine ships in the the fleet that were built before the six Royal Class ships and the Sun Princess. There is a certain demographic that enjoys the smaller ships with their old time elegance and 360° promenades. On the other hand, there are others that enjoy the amenities of the newer builds and look forward to seeing how Princess will move into the future with their new builds.
  6. Then you're stuck drinking beers. I'll go to Good Spirits on a daily basis, pay for Plus on the B2B and enjoy my vacation substantially more.
  7. I can confirm that this is true. Last year we were on the Majestic for 14 days in Alaska that was also available as a 7 day B2B and we got two credits.
  8. The choices would be comparing the cost versus the difference in perks. If you have Carnival Corp stock, 7 day gives you 100, versus a 14 day that gives you 250. The plus and premier packages also give you more if you book it in 7 day segments. Only you can determine which way is the best once you know the benefits or detriments of booking in 7 day cycles.
  9. The Discovery is the newest Royal Class ship and has had improvements made over the initial Royal ship. A five day sailing on a new ship compared to a four day sailing on an outdated ship is no comparison for me. I would choose the Discovery every day of the week and twice on Sunday. By the way, we spent 14 days on her doing Mexican Riviera and California coastal in April of 2023 and it was fantastic.
  10. You can shotgun a can of beer and have someone shotgun you a hit off of a joint as well.
  11. Since ribeye has the most marbling it needs to be cooked longer to render the fat that is all through it. Since I like my steaks to usually be done rare+ I never get a ribeye.
  12. The fixed rate cab is from JFK into Manhattan, not LGA
  13. This is where I would give the nod to Celebrity. Their newer ships even had a Benedict station, where it was made in front of you in traditional, salmon or spinach varieties.
  14. The problem is that there is no set time for spring break. Many districts in the Northeast usually have it the week before or after Easter, while other districts in other areas of the country have it a set week like the second week of March. We used to always cruise around Labor Day, but even with many districts already back at school, today's parents think nothing of taking their precious darlings out of school for a week.
  15. We were hoping for a show & drinks that we would pay 49pp for, similar to what is charged at specialty dinners. An extra 200 on top of that for a meal puts it out of what we deem reasonable. The drinks I've seen on YouTube do seem to be really nice though.
  16. The Island was built in 2003 and is 92 K tons so it could possibly be similar to the first ship you sailed on back in the day.
  17. As a Carnival Corporation stock holder, I wish to thank you and all of the other old time Princess cruisers that enjoy what you consider as old time classy and I consider as old time rust bucket. We cruise for the ship and would only consider the Royal and Sphere Classes since we have 35 days booked on the Enchanted, 28 booked on the Sun and another 28 booked on the Star. And one final thought, if you think the Royal Class on Princess looks like "wretched excess", it's obvious that you have never sailed on one of the Joe Farcus designed ships on Carnival, which resembled a Pepto Bismol theme at times.
  18. Was it 149 pp, or with the extra 18% on top of it?
  19. There is a canned equivalent that is available at Java Blue as well as the majority of bars. It replaced San Pellegrino a few years ago on Carnival.
  20. Please refresh my memory. When you buy FCD's on board, is the dollar amount charged attached to your credit card or is it attached to your on board account. If attached to your on board account, it can be paid off via gift cards. For some reason I thought it was charged automatically to our credit card, so we would lose the 8% gift card discount. Thanks
  21. The 10 days includes 3 days at sea, 4 stops in Canada, as well as 2 in New England. The IC is a 24 hour cafe that you can get breakfast sandwiches, pastries, snacks, fruit, coffee etc throughout the day. The Island doesn't have this and many do miss it when sailing on her. It boils down to what is important to you. The ship itself is over 20 years old and holds the second least amount of cruisers. Only you can decide what is important to you. If you have to do this itinerary in 2025, then your decision is made. You can also wait until 2026 schedule comes out to see the time parameters and the ship choice for this itinerary. You can always put a deposit down on the 2025 sailing and then switch it if a 2026 sailing on a different ship or different date works better for you.
  22. It's a super secret off site lounge that requires a special handshake given to the gate keeper in order for you to be admitted.
  23. Instead of club soda, adding San Pellegrino sparkling water makes it even better.
  24. Obviously since you have made the decision to roll the dice and fly in the morning of embarkation, your decision as to whether to fly into LGA or NWK should be determined by cost of flight and arrival time of flight. Obviously choose a non stop flight and depending upon the cost and arrival times for each of the two airports, it should hopefully be an easy decision for you.
  25. The reserve access for the dome would be those that have Premier package, right?
