  1. This is an interesting article on the topic. https://circleid.com/posts/20240501-starlink-service-is-great-on-some-cruise-ships
  2. Unfortunately, venezia doesn't have laundry room, with a 10 day cruise I'd love to do a load so I don't have to do it when I get home. I'd agree, bring your own pods and sheets (I use wool balls, much better for environ and cheaper).
  3. Good info. It's also likely to be affected by number of people using it, so might vary a little by time of day. Would be curious to see if there were maps of Hotspot on ships, but I'd guess they wouldn't release that for security reasons.
  4. You don't have to give them acct number or password. I sent them a .jpg of my fidelity purchase statement with acct number and other purchases blacked out. They just need to see your official brokerage letterhead with your name and stock holding.
  5. Companies don't offer new stocks often, that would dilute existing stock. They do stock splits or buy-backs to alter the value of existing stocks. Carnival wants high stock prices because as a publicly traded stock, they have a fiduciary responsibility to stockholders. When company does well, they may buy back stock to increase vale of existing stock or offer increased dividends to shareholders.
  6. It took about a week for me from buying the stock, submitting paperwork to approval and seeing credit on cruise page. Surprisingly easy.
  7. Good to know, I got FTTF after reserving, haven't gone back and checked.
  8. If noise is a concern, I'd also suggest a lower deck. Also keep in mind the amount of traffic a hallway is going to get with noisy kids running back and forth.
  9. This might be a good case for using the PVP. They would be able to keep an eye on it. Also, if payment is due 90 days out, that might be a good time to look, because presumably they will release those rooms back to pool if people don't finish paying.
  10. I would caution against this while at sea, depending on test setup. Most online tests that I have taken have time limits, and if Internet goes down, even for a short while, it may screw up the test. If she can choose date/time to take it, I'd wait until port, and then tether to a mobile Hotspot if possible.
  11. Me too, but given this thread, I'm going to wipe down inside of closet when I wipe down other surfaces just in case.
  12. Thanks for post above, I kept seeing banner about app but it went away every time before I loaded it.
  13. Single supplement isn't the issue. It's the lying claiming that the fee is for port fees (taxes), when in reality it's not. Princess charges significantly less to solos than carnival, although it's still a lot higher than per person for pair.
  14. Just because you read the list doesn't mean you understand the technical details. I assumed it was the ones with power switch until the post above from chengkp above. I tend to trust the Amazon product descriptions unless the rating is really low. But that can be gamed too (hopefully less with new law). I do tend to return a lot of stuff to Amazon that doesn't meet my expectations. Problem in this situation is that if I bought the wrong thing, I wouldn't know until the return window had expired.
  15. If it were that expensive, hotels wouldn't be doing it. In the kind of bulk we are talking about, it would be a few cents per towel. But given that Carnival is clearly MAKING money from current system, they are unlikely to implement it.
  16. Imagine how annoyed Carnival is. It affects both their bottom line and their reputation of reliability.
  17. Sure, if there is someone there to check it in. However last carnival cruise I went on, the towel area was unmanned a lot of the time. I got so I just grabbed a new one and tossed oldone in basket.
  18. Carnival could implement RF tracking pretty easily if they wanted, scan towels when distributed, scan when returned, which would be easier than current method. I'm guessing that a lot of people get charged for towels that they returned and dont dispute charges, which would mean there wouldn't be financial incentive for carnival to change. https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/roadwarriorvoices/2015/02/06/yes-your-hotel-knows-that-you-just-stole-that-towel-because-they-sewed-a-microchip-in-it/83191436/
  19. If you leave a wet/dirty pool towels in cabin, will the steward automatically replace it or do you have to ask? It's annoying to have to go up to Lido to exchange.
  20. Your post gave me a lot to think about. Only reason I haven't considered NCL for solo rates is that I want a balcony.
  21. Given the reason given above, they might be more likely to bump solo cruisers. That would suck, I took a more expensive fare this time cuz it allowed me to select my cabin.
