Cruiser Bruce thanks so much for your input. I think I will see if we can get on for our Hawaii trip, but not sure I will try for the world cruise. That cruise I will just hope we get one occasionally.
Starting two topics was a total mistake. I hit enter twice. Sorry I am a blonde and sometimes my blonde roots show through. 🙂

Now the all important question, is it worth it??
Our cruise will leave from San Diego in late January next year and head to Hawaii. I know it will be cool when we start and when we return, so not sure how many days we will be able to use it. and just as important, is it nicely handled? I may need to create a different thread?

Thank you so much Miss G..

Thank you. Definitely each trip is different. we sailed from Australia to New Zealand and had good weather and also around South America with great weather. Both very rare and then had a typhoon in Japan. You never know. Just wondering if you could ever use the ships pool in February... well I mean want to. 🙂

Yikes, can't imagine what our insurance would be for an OS...

Ins of 21,000 per person? for what class cabin?
-
WE were very interested until we had our TA call yesterday for the prices. A GS was 182,000 per person and the OS was 209,000 per person, plus about 9000 in port taxes for two people, but of course if you pay early you can get a 10% discount. We have taken one world cruise and are booked on two others we would have cancelled but these prices are way too much. We only travel in suites and do like the OS cabin but 400,000 is a bit much especially when you add in all the other costs like the shore excursions for that many ports and the dry cleaning and ironing fees and all the other incidentals. AND a non refundable 16,000.00 deposit for something that far off??? NO WAY!!!! I do think they will do a good job, but ... It will be real interesting to see how soon it sales out.

I will be real curious what they are charging for the two larger cabins.
-
I was so excited and had my TA price an Owner Suite or a Grand Suite , The OS was 209,000 per person and the GS was 164,000 per person before the 10% discount if you pay early, and before you add the taxes. Just can't justify that. Our world cruise on QM2 which is half the days but in a Queens cabin on a much nicer ship is less than half that. I love Royal for some cruises but for that amount of money, I want to be really wowed!!!!! but i bet it sells out!!!

Big Mike,
If you ever want to meet for dinner to talk about cruising and the QM2, we would love to meet you. Maybe meet somewhere near 1488 and 2978 or closer to Magnolia?

We are going on the 2023 world cruise, 117 days, and the 12 night Caribbean cruise before it, so total 129 days. The longest we have done before, on a different line was 128, and that cabin had lots of hanging space but it lacked drawer space. That cruise the line provided free luggage shipping and we took a total of 17 bags including some we took on the plane. We plan to try to take a few less bags this time 🙂 , but my husband does like to dress as much as I do. The Q4 definitely seems to have plenty of drawer and cabinet space, but since this cruise will have lots of formal nights and my husband will be taking several tuxes, and at least 4 or 5 dinner jackets, and I will need hanging space, too, I was a little concerned. We are only waitlisted for the Q4 but I understand we have good chance of getting it, so I wanted to know before we might get a call in a few months. I would hate to upgrade, and then regret it.
-
Thank you both. We are booked on the 23 world cruise and my husband is an over packer just like me and wanted to be sure if we can get that upgrade it would hold all our 'stuff'. It appears to have plenty of drawers and shelves, but I was concerned bout the hanging spaces.
Thanks for your input. Interesting that both of your names start with big 🙂 and Big Mike must live fairly close to us as we live in Conroe, Texas.

We are trying to decide between a Q5 and a Q4 cabin on the Queen Mary. I like the shower in the Q4 and the extra 1/2 bath and the dining table, but it appears the closet hanging space is less and there is not the hanging closet space as you enter like in the Q5. This will be for a very long cruise so hanging space is important. Has anyone been in both and have an opinion. Thanks

Marty are there flowers in the lido?

I just used a passport agency here in the Woodland's Texas and paid the expediting fee and our new passports were returned in about 5 weeks. However, our old passports, which we needed for our China visas that hadn't expired, were not returned for another 3 weeks. We also use the same agency to acquire visas. So much easier and well worth the fees for us. They just know what they are doing.

When I look on deck plans of the QM2 , I see launderettes on decks 4,5,6,8, and 10 but none on deck 9 or 11 which also have passenger cabins. Am I just missing them, or do they not exist on those decks? Thanks for any help.

thank you all so much. I have been disappointed with HALS service many times...

Can some of you that have sailed on the QM2 often please comment on your experience with the dry cleaning and laundry service on her. We are accustomed to Holland and sailing in the Neptune suites and having free laundry and dry cleaning. I did not trust Hollands' service for anything really nice, and I preferred to do my own laundry and have them iron items for me often, but just wondering about the service on board the QM2. Holland has eliminated all of their laundry rooms on board, and that did not please me. We are sailing on the 23 World cruise and the Christmas cruise before it, so we will be on board for a long time. I like that I can do some of my own laundry on Cunard, but just wondering if I can send things to just be pressed, and how good the dry cleaning service is. Thanks

We are just down the road from you off 1488 near I45. We are taking the 2023 world cruise with another couple. We sailed the Queen Mary in 2005, but not since and our friends going with us, she traveled on one of the Queens in like 1960 something with her parents. Any chance you would want to meet for dinner and tell us more about your experience and hints about sailing in the Queens Grill on the QM2? my email is rshepley at gopublic dot com so we can do this off line. Thanks for any response.

I am so surprised you are going on a Viking ship since they have no casino.
Thanks so much Pete for your, as always, wonderful descriptions of your trip. We are on the 21 day Noordam from Fort Lauderdale to Vancouver on April 24th and really hoping since it will be a "longer' cruise we will see some of the menu items you all enjoyed. Looked wonderful. gives me great hope that the world cruises will still be special.
