Is the Coral a grand class ship?
-
Keep the same room. We spent a lot of our time out on the open decks.
If you get a Caribe balcony, and the weather is good, you will have wonderful views both North and South.:)
If you do decide to change, there is no real hassle.;)
Caribe balconies aren't fully covered though, right?

I guess I'm just worried because on the sea days last time, we enjoyed just watching the mountain views in the distance travelling back on a round trip. I worry I'll be disappointed with just the ocean view, but not sure I really want to pack up and move. Unpacking for two weeks seems like fun.
Ugh. I don't know. [emoji20]

We are planning on doing the northern cruise and the returning southern cruise to and from Alaska next year.
Should we book the same room for both legs or switch rooms to keep the view both ways (starboard north and port side south) ?
Would it be worth the hassle of changing rooms?

I know! I miss getting/holding that ticket folder and bag tags. :(
Thanks for your empathy through this dark time for me. :(:p;)

Man, this is depressing. Oh well.
-
So no information packet? No luggage tags? Nothing?

After you've booked your cruise and your cruise date is getting closer, do you get anything in the mail from Princess? If so, what do you get? How many weeks out? We're planning on driving to the port and that will take a 1-2 weeks depending on sight seeing on the way. I was just wondering if I'd get anything before we leave.

I've not cruised Carnival. I found Royal Caribbean to be far superior to Princess.
For the prices of the Alaskan cruises, Princess better be flipping amazing when I go on Princess. Prices are astronomical compared to RCI.

Perhaps someone could comment or make a comparison between the Star and the Coral on features that would be important in Alaska, like viewing places inside and outside?
What about the size difference?
Any major differences in terms of restaurants and theaters/entertainment?

Whales???
Bahahahaha!!! Had a good snort over that! :p

No..... if you look at every ship that you pull up deck plans for it shows the same 3 dates.
They are changing around the cabin 2 letter designations.
So no physical changes.
Thanks so much for sharing that.

Isn't Coral having another dry-dock next year? There are deck plans on the website that show now and later next year. Could changes be coming next year?

The Star has a nice promenade deck for viewing Glacier Bay' date=' College Fjord, Hubbard Glacier, and the other scenic places your cruise may go.
The Star has the nice, new, clean, and sparkling white dessert area, at the buffet. Beautiful and convenient.
The Star also still has Crown Grill and Sabatini's, which is good for me:)
Bon voyage![/quote']
Does the Coral not have these things?
-
We've been in May and the only downside we had was that we didn't get anywhere near to Hubbard Glacier, which was disappointing. Great weather though and great prices in May.

Between small and large, is there one punch for small and two for large, or just one hole punched regardless of size?
-
Does the Soda and More package come with a reusable cup?
-
If you are on a B2B under one booking number the coffee card should be dated as valid until the end of the second leg.
Really? THANK YOU!

The international cafe is open 24 hours. As far as I know that is the only place on board to get fresh brewed coffee. I'm not sure about the hot chocolate, but I would think it is available at the cafe.
The coffee card is about $29 plus 15% gratuity ($33.35) for 15 specialty coffees - that's about $2.22 per drink. Once it has been punched at least once, the fresh brewed coffee is free as long as there is at least one punch left on the card.
Also, the card does not expire and can be used on the next Princess cruise.
The freshly brewed coffee ends at the end of the cruise though, right? If I'm doing a B2B, I'd have to buy a new card to keep getting the freshly brewed coffee, correct?
-
Does anyone know how much hot chocolates cost?
It seems so ridiculous to buy a soda package for the hot chocolate, which is what I really want for the Alaskan cruise. I doubt I'd drink $8.00 worth of hot chocolate a day.
My mom would have to buy the coffee card just to get fresh brewed coffee.
Do both the hot chocolate and coffee come from the International Cafe? What are the hours it is open? Is this the only place to get hot chocolate and fresh brewed coffee?

If you are talking about how they serve soft drink/ soda /pop in a plastic cup around the pools or in a glass at restaurants and bars.
If you buy a package you get a reusable cup with the package, either a double walled plastic one or an insulated one.
But you don't need to use the cup. Your card will have a sticker on it, you show your card (or after about day 2 dont bother because they already know you) they squit out your drink.
Now I find the glasses they use inside a but small, so I tend to get my first for the day up on the pool deck, usually the bar near the buffet. Take that cup with me and just get refills till I'm near a bar that has the bigger cups then get a fresh cup. But then I drink a LOT of diet coke.
Thanks! What about coffees/specialty coffees/hot chocolate? What are those served in? Or was your insulated comment referring to that?
-
How do they serve drinks? In mugs or in disposable containers? Do you bring reusable containers from home?
-
Is there regular coffee and hot chocolate available on the ship that's included in your cruise fare? Like a self serve station?
Does Princess have Freestyle machines?
