  1. The confusion I'm having is because I believe I've seen people discussing using them onboard towards the ob account. I know the rule is the cruise fare....but that's why im asking people for their experience.
  2. We did this and a few notes; it's a very short visit as I think the sc closes at 5. Times may vary of course. Its a whirlwind visit but our dd hadn't ever been so im glad we went.
  3. Please help me understand what I can and cannot do with AARP gift cards. I keep avoiding purchasing them because I don't want to be stuck. It states they can only be used toward fare on a newly booked cruise, but I know people have spoken about using them to pay ob accounts. So are they useable on board but not through their site for pre cruise purchases? Is that accurate? Is it really based on the person you're dealing with in all cases (like if I wanted to pre pay gratuities on the phone)? Cruise is fully paid so all that's left in onboard expenses and POSSIBLY drink packages if we cave in.
  4. Doing some pre-cruise math. Anyone know how much the current going rate (approximately, even??) For: Bottle of water Glass and or can of soda...whichever they serve Virgin drink such as Colada Specialty location "Americano" type coffee (like a pay as you go cup of non dining room coffee from whichever places sell it. I would typically throw in some flavored syrup if they had sugar free). It's a 9 nighter and I cannot imagine us "needing" a drink package but trying to math it.
  5. Love how you say you can take the waterfalls down...lmao...that is unless my clumsy butt falls down the entire way. Lol
  6. How is the walking there? I'm just concerned because neither of us is getting any younger or more fit. Lol
  7. Was it very scenic? I feel like the ohotos aren't helping.
  8. None of the tour offerings are really grabbing me. Is there something close to or right off the ship to see/do just to be able to say we were off the ship? Never been there before and am not into many of the activities for which tours are offered (snorkel, zip line, and the rest). Typically ideal for my first visit somewhere would be an island drive just to get an overall look around. Thus far the photos I've seen aren't making me really excited for that either. Thinking save the money? RCCL is doing a tour via "classic car" but idk if their idea of a classic car is like a 57 caddy or a 70s pinto. Lol any experience?
  9. Just glad I saw your post that led me to the app. Had never tried before.
  10. Couldn't sleep last night so at 12 on the dot I hit the app. First, it went from chevk in opens May 1st to check in being closed. Then I moved to the website which never changed from ...opens May 1st. Back to the app and after another couple minutes it let me proceed.
  11. For rhe bird, yes. I assure you mine hasn't improved since that moment. Lol
  12. Not too weird.....they're halfway between the switch to new excursions.
  13. I'm not sure if being pooped on this morning by a bird (and nearly missed by another) is a good sign or a bad sign.... this time its a b2b so keep your fingers crossed for me. Lol
  14. Thank you. I'll check it out but I'm inclined to use the cruise excursions my first time anywhere. Just wondered what's out there and when we might see RCCLs offerings. Thanks again.
  15. Just asked a question about this in a new thread. How long does it take to show excursions for the new stop in the planner?
  16. Just got the email I was expecting. In place of Labadee (for June) going to somewhere in the Dominican Republic. Questions are: how long does it usually take for RCCL to switch shore excursion offerings on theire website? Still shows Labadee and, since I've never been to DR I have no clue what do see/do. Also....what to see/do in Puerto Plata, Dominican Rep?
  17. Similar but different.... dd also did sushi making and cupcake decorating, both of which advise you cannot take leftover food out of the restaurant. Both times she got containers for leftovers. I am SURE their intentions are to keep people safe, but if my dd felt compelled to scarf down 3 giant cupcakes so none would be lost, I'd be pretty annoyed. Probably more danger with leftover sushi but still....
  18. I have for the most part enjoyed the replies and "discussion " about this topic, even if it's all speculation.
  19. I always pick my own cabin. In all cases it'd be nice but not necessary or I'd pay for the cabin up front.
  20. That is, by far, the best explanation I've ever read. It assumes at least someone will want an upgrade "deal", but at what cost to having this third party handle it? What has to happen to make it worthwhile to the customer (RCCL in this case)?....just to have all cabins filled even at zero cabin cost? That is what I'm assuming as people spend once on board but an empty cabin does them zero good.
  21. It's a serious question in that I'm genuinely curious how it works. It's musings in that I'm just interested in hearing how it might work. There's no way to know who is reading this..... if someone actually knows or not. No one has to answer but I appreciate hearing everyone's thoughts.
