Of course the Festivale was also one of "The Big Red Boat" ships. It was The Big Red Boat III and was one of he Disney Cruise Ships
This was my very 1st cruise at the age of 6!!! It had Looney Toon characters instead of Disney. I just ran across my sail and sign card along with my mom's the other day.
I remember this cruise because I learned the Chicken Dance on this cruise.

The reason why this thread is some what annoying is because of post like the LMaxaxwell one above this comment.
It because a my favorable cruise line is better than your favorable cruise line" argument. This thread was petty from the beginning.
I'm shock the hosts didn't either:
A. Move this thread to Royal and other boards seeing as how it pertains to them as well.
B. Got rid of it all together because it is petty and grown people become really bratty.
And yes I'm being a hypocritical brat right now because the hosts always tend to do that to me. They keep moving my threads to the Floataway Lounge when I clearly posted it where I posted it for a reason and the post gets good replies where it was. Even if it doesn't have the word Carnival in the title or the name of a Carnival ship. I wanted Carnival cruisers feedback. I think the host have something against me. (Not serious and a little serious about that lol)
Sorry I just went on a random rant venting a little. (They will probably move or delete this comment as well haha)

To answer the OP's main question, NO Carnival is not falling behind. They are doing great according to their costumer and they are doing great at attracting new costumers.
OP, you already knew what kind of response you would get on a Carnival board. You know with people who love to cruise Carnival and continue to do so.
If you ask this question on the Royal board, I'm sure the masses would say something like, "of course Carnival sucks!" But MAYBE they will try to sweeten it.
I have done both so I am not as mean as some who stick to one line and think they are the best of the best because they think they are.
I have cruised both but like others said, I stick to Carnival for price and what I like about their ships. I prefer their Conquest Class and newer. The biggest I've done on Royal was their Freedom class which compare's more to Carnival's Dream class to me. That is a size I'm happy with. Never have been eager to try their mag-ships. I like Carnival's additions but don't care to try Royal's. All a matter of opinion.
But once again, you knew what you were asking for when you asked this question.

Whaaaa?! There are other people from Chicago that love to cruise?! I'm shocked. Every time I meet new people and mention cruising and the number of cruises I've been on, they look at me like I'm crazy.
Anywho, I am loving this review. I have been trying to do the Breeze since it came out. Finally booked for November 30th. Can't wait!
We should gather all Chicagoians who love cruising as much as we do and take it over lol

Just got off my 4th cruise on the Liberty On the 19th of last month. Loved it. Loved it so much, that I'm sure it won't be my final time on it. Yes, like everyone said, there is a toilet bowl brush. It is there for when people leave debris behind and don't want the room steward to see. Not for you to scrub and clean your own toilet daily.
I don't remember when I ever 1st noticed this brush. It could have been on my 1st cruise ever. But I never thought it was there because the steward wanted me to clean my own toilet.
As for the toilet paper. I've ran out of tp in my cruising lifetime before. Idk if it was on Carnival or Royal Caribbean but I decided to do something completely absurd and strange.....I asked my room steward for more.
I come from the land of Chicago. We have strange customs like "communicating with people".

I can still see the pictures. So unless you already fixed the problem, everything is great on this end.

Loving this review so far.
Although i don't cruise solo technically (I travel with my mom), we have completely separate vacations. I am pretty much a solo cruiser. I'm out the 1st day meeting new people along with the people from my CC roll calls. We usually hang out every night and I do become really close to them over the week. I can totally relate to your review so far.

For me, the pricing would be the deciding factor. I'm sure CCL would be cheaper. Plus, having been a pre-teen and teenager on both CCL and RCL, I think the kids would prefer the programs for them offered on the Breeze. And there is a "water park" on the Breeze. Plus CCL has the biggest rooms of each category offered on their ships compared to RCCL. So that is definitely important especially if you all plan on staying in the same room. A little bit more breathing room would help
Going on the Breeze in November. Last RCCL ship I did was Freedom of the Seas

American Table. I actually enjoyed the change. Some great new menu options.
-
Omg that was so very awesome!
I loved every bit of it. And then some.
It was unique, it was funny.
It made this gloomy Chicago day, very sunny.
Could you please make this a tradition?
I'm sure that I can speak for all of us when I say, we would look forward
To your cruise review rendition.

Liberty has the new menus, so most of this thread would not apply. Try searching for new menu for posts specific to this.
Also, john heald is on glory right now and doing a live Facebook review, including the new menu.
This is true. most of what is in the MDR is different thanks to the new menus.
But the buffet is pretty much the same. So you can still try the stew on caribbean day.
Also, the potroast on the All American day at the buffet is pretty delicious too
-
Plus there is food and snacks (at a charge i know) there too which is a lovely addition especially when drinking lol.
Does the Red Frog close at a certain time? I know Alchemy did but it was pretty late. Also is there a time when the kitchen at Red Frog closes so that I'm no longer able to order food and snacks?
-
I thought "no kids clubs" was obviously since it says its only for certain age groups on the fun times, and near the club lol
As well as the obvious Crew Only areas and the Men or Women bathrooms lol.
Unless this 18 yr old in question can't read, I think they will know the restrictions when it comes to those things haha

There were some 'older' 18 year olds in the Disco on the Freedom last summer. They were too old for Club 02 and came there instead.
Yes, the disco is 18+

Yeah on this board, there is a lot of fuss over it. But definitely understandable.
No great trick to getting awesome drinks. Just pick something of the cool looking menu (has a backlight), or ask the mixologist to go crazy and make you something different. I told him the first night that i like fruity yet very potent tasting drinks. He gave me something pinkish/purpleish with blueberries and had me coming back every night.
reat bar, great bartenders and great atmosphere (even if it is right on the end of the promenade)
-
Yeah I've been there before and couldn't get a seat. But luckily it is located right on the promenade next to a long hallway of couches and chairs. JUst grab a seat close to the bar so you can keep coming back. The bartender even brought me drinks to my seat numerous times. He told me to go find a seat and he will come find me, and he did! :)
-
Yeah that's exactly what I loved about Alchemy. But I'm sure I'll make the most of Red Frog too. Especially if I become a regular lol.
Maybe I'll just buy some kind of martini elsewhere on the ship and then carry it back to Red Frog and sip there haha
-
To sum it all up, the 18 year old can go anywhere on the ship except Serenity since it is 21+. Also he or she is not allowed to buy any alcoholic beverages ON THE SHIP.
-
Ok well that got me a bit more excited. Thank you!! Something to look forward to.

A-mazing bar! Best bar on Carnival, hands down.
-
Since the Breeze doesn't have the Alchemy Bar and it has become my new favorite place to be at night on the ships, is there another awesome night time bar like the Alchemy on the Breeze?
-
I loooooove Alchemy! Very friendly and personable bar staff. I think that goes for all of the ships Alchemy bars.
It also seems like the same people frequent that bar every nigh. Well at least that is what I have noticed from my past 2 cruises with the Alchemy Bar.
Even if you don't want anything on the menu, they can surprise you with something amazing.
On night 2 of my last cruise, as I was walking to dinner with my mom, the Bar tender Brian, waved and said, "See you later tonight Robyn!" "You know it Brian!"
My mom thought it was pretty funny that the bartender knew my name after 1 night and I knew his. So yes, I did look like an alcoholic only after the 1st night haha. But hey, that place is just that awesome.
Too bad my Breeze cruise doesn't have the Alchemy Bar :/

I know it isn't Carnival but that Big Red Boat picture brought back memories. So I found my 1st sail and sign card ever from that trip. And a pic of me and my mom from boarding
