  1. So, I cruised the Breeze in August of last year and will be cruising on it again in April of 2016. I think the lack of the Adults Only pool was my only negative. Yes, I know there is Serenity. But, there are only hot tubs there. I actually missed the pool with no kids splashing around and everybody pretty much just chillin' in the pool.

Did anybody else miss that on the Breeze?

Do you think there is a reason that Carnival didn't make the back pool an adults only pool when that seemed to be a trend on the Conquest class ships?

Do you think it will eventually be changed to an adults only pool?

  2. I've never done the Martini Tasting either.

Maybe I should add that to my list.

I do intend on doing the Wine & Food Pairing on this cruise.

    Have you done that?

    I love you already!

Join our cruise on December 5th!! LOL

Aim for the $20k and we can split it. :)

I'd love to join you! But because I'm a teacher (ah, thats why she loves to drink- yes, I also read minds), December 5th is a bit early in December for me. Make it a Christmas or New Year's cruise, and your treat, and I'm there!

When I when the $20,000 on the cruise, I'll definitely split it with you

  3. 1. Drunkenly sing karaoke by myself. (I've gotten up there before, but always with others bc of nerves. I would like to try to do it intoxicated, you know, liquid courage, and by myself)

    2. Win $10,000 in the casino. I would say $20,000, but I don't want to be greedy.

    3. Have movie night in my room with room service and alcohol. (I've tried this before, but because I am such an amazing person, I've made friends on day 1, or even before-thanks CC, and if we were separated too long, I'd get the call to my room asking, "WHERE YOU AT?!" So then I'd have to leave and join my new friends.)

    4. This one kind of goes along with #3. Try not to have bartenders remember my name. There goes my frickin awesome personality again. Mind of it's own.

  4. I haven't done the Sunshine for Christmas but I have done 4 other Carnival cruises during Christmas time.

Yes the ship is decorated. I think very nicely and tastefully. There is usually a giant tree in the atrium, a gingerbread village in either the atrium or on the promenade, and garland around the railings of each level overlooking the atrium. I do believe there are other Christmasy decorations around the ship, but i can't remember what specifically.

The other poster said that there weren't enough Christmas decorations for her. But, you have to remember that not everybody on the ship celebrates Christmas. I do remember two giant menorahs on both sides of the giant tree in the atrium. I don't recall seeing much of any other religious celebratory pieces around.

Yes, it is more than ok to bring a small wreath for your door. Decorate your door as much as you like!

If you'd like to participate, there was also an all denominational mass held in different event rooms (Auditorium, Karaoke lounge, dining room), on all of my Christmas cruises.

  5. For the people that think the OP is complaining or making a big to do out of nothing and are mocking the OP for doing so have it completely wrong.

This seems to be a common thing whenever this topic is brought up.

On my last cruise the waiting area was filled with more FTTP passengers than the Platinum or Diamond and it was pretty crowded. (BTW, yes I am Platinum. Have been for the past 5 years)

I get that Carnival is making more money with giving people the ability to purchase priority boarding but at the same time, Carnival is taking away what's special about earning your perks.

Unless they add more perks to being Platinum or Diamond, I think they should just do away with the whole levels system. That, or maybe change the number of cruises or days at sea again to thin the crowd a bit more. There is nothing special about being "special" if anybody can pay to be just as "special".

I cruise because I love cruising, especially on Carnival. I'm sure many others feel the same way. But when Carnival decided to do the whole levels thing, they decided to divide people up and make some feel more worthy than others. Which is cool. They found a way for there to be some competition, which makes people strive to cruise more. But if they want to keep this game of their's going, they're going to have to change things up a bit.

  6. This was my first cruise out of San Juan with such a late departure time as well and like you I was extremely nervous. But it's just like any other cruise. We were on the ship by noon. Dropped off our things in our cabin and went for lunch. We got off the ship and explored a little in OSJ. I believe we were back on the ship at 530 and the first night is open seating so we went to the dining room for dinner. muster drill was at 9 I think? Very quick and efficient.

The one thing I do have to say about this itinerary is be prepared to come home tired! It is full days! I was up each morning at 7 to have breakfast and off the ship by 830. Back on the ship by 4 and dinner at 6. I felt like I was back in bed at 10 because I didn't even have time for naps. I got to see one show, one comedy show, the love and marriage show and the MJ tribute. As much as I loved the itinerary I also love the ship and felt like I missed spending time on the ship. All the more reason to book another!!

Oh great, I was wondering if we start boarding late since we are departing late.

Do you know when is the latest we can board/check-in since it is a late departure? Or is it the same, like everyone must be checked in by 4:30 or something like that? I know we can get on and off but is there a difference in time for the initial check-in?

  7. This seems like a perfect question for the Carnival board, I wonder why it was moved. Or was it moved from some place else to the Carnival board? Oh well.

I'm liking these responses and am interested in hearing more since we will be on this cruise in December. This will be my 22nd cruise, and although I consider myself a veteran cruiser, this cruise makes me nervous. Never sailed out of Puerto Rico before and never had such a late departure so I'm not sure how everything will play out.

  8. I sailed the Paradise 2 years ago. I have done Fantasy class ships in the early 90s and only Conquest class, Dream class, and RCIs Navigator and Freedom class since. So yeah there was a very noticeable difference, but I still had a great and fun cruise.

But after doing Allure, I would try Conquest class ships or newer from CCL. Anything older MIGHT be a huge turn off to you and you kids.

  9. Interesting. This whole "different than my usual port" and late departure are making me feel like a cruise noob lol.

    Thanks so much.

Oh one more thing, I also read in somebody's review(leaving out of San juan) that their mom wanted a bottle of vodka and she was able to purchase it in the cruise terminal (since there's all the liquor stores in there). This sounded strange to me. Is that possible? I know about the bottle of wine pp of course

  10. So we leave on Liberty out of San Juan Dec 20th. I've never left out of San Juan or for such a late departure (10pm).

How does this work? What time do we need to check in by? Once we check in, can we get off the ship and back on before a certain time?

  11. When receiving your sail and signs cards at check in, you will be handed a map.

Until then, explore/study the deck plans online.

Once you get onboard, explore! Deck 3, 5, and 9 will be the main decks with all the activity.

This and Breeze are my favorite ships. You will love it l. It's very easy to learn.

Also, one last piece of help, YouTube! Search Carnival Liberty and you will be on there for hours and feel like you've already been here by the time you get on.

    Have a great cruise!

  12. So I finally got the bf to go on another cruise! Our 1st one together was 3 years ago on the Carnival Paradise. Small ship, shorter cruise (4 days-his idea since he was a newbie and didn't know how he would be on a ship), one port. After that, he wasn't completely sold on cruising. He has no idea how me and my mom have become platinum because he can't see the big deal about constantly wanting to be on a ship.

We have recently booked our second cruise together on the Liberty (my favorite next to the Breeze)! I'm so excited. He's more excited than I thought he'd be. I told him that 7 days will help have him more into cruising unlike the 4 day cruises where as soon as you learn the ship or get comfortable, it's time to get off lol.

Anyway, to help him really get excited and look forward to our December 20th cruise out of Puerto Rico, I need some ideas. What can I do to have him talking about it as much as I do to everybody? What kind of countdown activity can we do daily or weekly to help get him in the cruising spirit?

Any ideas on how to make it even more memorable once onboard?

I know that I'm treating him to the Steakhouse and having a bottle of his favorite rum waiting in the room. After all, this cruise was his treat, so it's the least I can do.
