  1. I couldn't agree with you more. In 1990, my then 2 yr old daughter was given a 10%survival rate when dxd with a malignant brain tumor. They told me she would only live 5 years. We didn't listen😀

She will be 31 next Friday due to the grace of God and some of the BEST doctors around.

Her life has been a challenge, so in 2006 I decided to take her on a cruise. Best decision of my life! I told her when we got on the ship we were just 2 gals having fun. We just booked our 10th cruise. We had to cancel 2 due to medical issues but we always buy the insurance and we re book asap. If my daughter had her way she would live a a DAM ship;) I can't tell you how many amazing memories we have made together onboard . When we do end up in the hospital we always think back to our past trip or make plans for the next. Live you life now, cherish each moment. Luann, your husband is in my prayers.

Does anyone have any idea as to what the ceremony wording is ?  I’ve booked us a cruise for our 10th Anniversary this year and was considering this but we wouldn’t want anything with any religion/god etc in our ceremony or vows

Looking at my vows from 2016 there was no mention of God and or religion. I do not know if all Captains say they same vows. While I personally would not have minded the mention of God in the vows, the words were very touching and I was so happy we did the ROV .

Currently, we have a "do not upgrade" on our 14-day Alaska cruise for 2020 and thinking of deleting that notation.  Our present location is fine but we are not locked into it should a better cabin come along.  My question is this:  does HAL move a cruiser around without notifying them first?  I know other lines do but it appears, from what I have read,  that HAL notifies the cruiser first....true?

yes they do. I am just off the Oosterdam and when I went to board the ship they asked me my stateroom number. I happily gave it to him and he replied "no, that is not your cabin. I was staring down at a luggage tag and repeated the same number. It seems that two couples wanted to be next to each other so they gave them my cabin and upgraded us to a Neptune suite. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. On my return I spoke to my TA and he said he had put "upgrade" on my paperwork. I got no call about this, and was unable to find an email or text . I believe my suite became available last minute (they put a sticker with my name over another ) in a note from the captain. I think they knew it was a "win - win" for us both.

  4. Just off the Oosterdam two weeks ago. My husband couldn't decide between two meals. The waiter told him to get both, which he did. I saw the charge printed on the bottom of the menu, but it never appeared on our bill.

I personally was pleased that the portions seemed smaller. I hate to waste food and I usually ask for small portions. I don't think they will do this fleet wide, but some people over do. My waiter told me that there was a coupe who ordered ALL the entrees each evening, they only took two bites of each. I thought this was a terrible waste. JMHO.

  5. Maasdam always has wonderful crew/officers/staff. Sure some come and some go but there seems to remain a solid enough group who 'welcome' the new comers to Maasdam and the crew is always outstanding. We loved a great many days/nights on that lovely ship.

We don't have nearly as many days as you Sail, 😄 but our first HAL cruise was on the Maasdam. it was by far our best and is still to this day our favorite memories. We have sailed a few more Hal ships since then, liked them all, but none had staff like our beautiful Maasdam.

  6. Thank you all for the info ,kind words and prayers. I did have ins with Hal so that was good, my TA took care of everything. I just got off the phone with JetBlue and they are giving both of us a 100 % credit on our airfares. We go to see her surgeon tomorrow to make a plan. Luckily we live in the Boston area and have the very best medical available to us. During our hospitalizations we will plan together our next cruise, it will bring us thru. God bless you all.

  7. We have to cancel our cruise for this weekend as my daughter was rushed to the er and a mass was discovered. This breaks my heart because we cruise to forget her other medical isses. I know we will fix her problems and cruise again, I am just sad that we won't be leaving this weekend and will have to wait until November. My question for you all is what happens to my future cruise money I applied to this trip? Do I lose this? Thanks for your input, and if you could remember my Ali in your prayers, it would be greatly appreciated.

  8. Was the nude charter a two week cruise?

Or perhaps you are suggesting they sailed one week as a usual cruise and also joined in for the nude cruise?

People create their own B2B cruises....could have started on the nude cruise and stayed on for a longer trip. All I was thinking was that with the horrific attack on that young lady , then a power outage... Wouldn't be a favorite trip. I am happy to learn that the outage was short lived, and I pray for the young woman.

  9. They are $299 for a seven day cruise. A 14 day Collector cruise is $399 for the two weeks.

If they have any available they will rent them for a day. This is more likely on a port day than a sea day. I'm not sure of the daily rate but I think it was around $60-70 a day.

You have them until about 5:00PM each day.

It is not something that HAL seems to promote because there are so few of them and they are usually booked before the cruise by people that have seen them on previous cruises and inquired, or by word of mouth. They are booked through ship services.

My TA wrote me today and said that the NA was $499 for 14 days but is sold out for my cruise....oh well, maybe next time.
