I didn’t know that TA’s were worth it for years. We are on a Viking 14 day cruise. We have an $800 OBC fro our agent.

Would love to know what private tours you have booked.

I would suggest trying to go early in the morning. We went around 2pm and it was so very crowded that we asked to leave the group early. It was shoulder to shoulder and the group was not moving. This was pre-covid so perhaps they have made some changes to the number of people they take in.

That sounds like a lovely day. Can I also assume that there are taxis at the dock for those who might have difficulty walking that far?

We are doing the British Isles cruise with Viking in May. Smaller ship and we are told fabulous food. Viking includes one tour at every port but we like to do our own thing with a smaller group. Hoping to find some recommendations for good tours here on CC.

Thank you for the clarification. We will be fine. Being a bit of a foodie I’m sure we would love to try the specialty restaurants but honestly I’m not sure I want to be worried about making plans for the day based on just that. Sounds like we could probably squeeze in somewhere in 14 days. My experience on other lines is that they are always willing to be accommodating and people change their minds.

Great. I’ll check my cabin. This says we have a full day in Bergen. That’s great. Then staying one night can accomplish my desire to see the fiords. on a side note ….. what is MJV.

Does anyone know when we leave Scotland and how early we dock in Bergen? I am wondering if we will see much of the fiords or if we will be traveling through them in the dark?

Thank you, Janetcbl, May B and Twitchy. Appreciate the in-site. Been on many cruises but this will be our first Viking. All this talk about not getting reservations was concerning me. I’m not going to stress about the specialty restaurants. I’ll just see how it plays out onboard. We enjoy meeting people and are always happy to be seated at a group table as well.

How early in the spring does this start?

Thank you for this intro. We are booked on this cruise in May 2023. Already starting my research. I know Viking offers many excursions and some are free. I’m sure we will do some of those but we have also enjoyed finding private guides a few times. We like to mix it up.

Am I understanding that there is not a regular dining room that is easily available? Or is it only the specialty restaurants that require advance reservations?

Yes. I can print it but there used to be a button that converted the thread to a “reader” version that filtered out the ads and other superficial stuff.

I haven't done this in a while but sometimes if there was a long thread I would print (a print version) it out and read it away from the computer. I do not see that option anymore. Has it been removed?
