  1. Yes you can use OBC for drinks. :whiskey-glass::beer-mug::tropical-drink::wine-glass:.

You can bring 2 bottles of Wine or Champagne no fee. If you take more there’s is a corkage fee for each extra bottle you take. You can’t take any liquid. Yes you can also take all the soda you want no fee.

Thanks Tony for the information. I went ahead and purchased some spirits, soft drinks and water. We are all set.

  2. No comparison in my opinion. Take R 746

May I ask why you prefer Riveria over the Lido? I am booked on the Crown Princess on the Lido L257. I have never cruised with Princess. Did I make a bad choice and if so, would Princess let me change? Thanks for any info.

  3. Hello fellow cruisers, I'm new to Princess and I have a few questions if you don't mind.

I was looking at getting a drink package but it's not for us. If I purchase OBC, can we use it for drinks?

Can we each bring a bottle of alcohol onboard? Or is that prohibited? What about soft drinks?

I have booked an interior on the Lido deck. Cruising in April I'm sure it will get a bit cool. But my concern is how does the Crown Princess handle the North Atlantic? We are doing the British Isles from Ft. Lauderdale to Southampton.

Thank you for any info you can share. I have several cruises under my belt but I have never crossed the pond. Thanks again.

  4. This past Saturday we disembarked from the Queen Mary 2 at the Red Hook Terminal in Brooklyn. We had never done self help disembarkation. On Friday we went down to the tour office. They gave us a card that was plastic and the size of a credit card. It would allow us to get off the ship on Saturday with us carrying our luggage as soon as the ship cleared immigration. We ate breakfast in the Kings Court. Shortly after 7 AM, we got our luggage and joined a short line on Deck 3 in the Atrium area for leaving the ship. We gave a Cunard employee our special card from the tour desk. Line moved quickly. Through ship security then into the terminal. They had not even started to unload luggage. Lines were short for passport control and immigration and out the door. Maybe 30 minutes at the most to leave the ship. There were plenty of cabs since very few people had disembarked and a long line of black cars with a set fee of $41 to Manhattan. We chose a cab since cheaper. At our hotel on Broadway in less than 20 minutes. Whole process very smooth and quick. Great way to do it if you can carry your luggage. Since we were staying in New York for a few days this allow us some extra hours to enjoy the city. Regular disembarking for us if Cunard did our luggage would have started at 11 AM.

Thank you. This is some good information. I will be doing this in June 2019.

  5. You can also order using the Princess @ Sea App. There is a place for notes, just enter any special requests that are not on the menu. If they are able they've made it for us. Most ships it excellent +10. I was less than thrilled on my last cruise because they changed the menu and quality/taste was not the standard I was use to but service was fine. I'm hoping it was just a fluke on the one ship.

Thank you for the heads up. It will probably be coffee and danish for us.

  6. Link to the breakfast hang tag menu from another thread:

Only hot item is the egg sandwich, otherwise continental breakfast only.

The lunch and dinner room service is similarly spartan, and may be even more so a year from now should the very limited menu on the new Royal class ships replace the current ones on Crown and/or the rest of the fleet.

If you are in a full suite (not a mini suite) you can order from the MDR menu. Otherwise room service is just something Princess chooses not to prioritize. You will likely find yourself dashing out to the 24 hour International Cafe for in room snacks. For a full meal, Princess' practice is that's what the various dining venues are for.

Thank you for the link and response. My husband likes to have coffee and danish early. I would rather go to the dining room if it's open for breakfast. We decided to do an interior since going North on the Atlantic will be new for us and we have no idea what to expect weather wise. Don't want to pay double for a balcony and then not be able to use it. Thanks again.

  7. I asked Cunard on Twitter which NY Cruise Terminals do their ships dock in? - they advise:

Hi David, the port of which the ship docks in to will differ depending on what other ships are in port. It is always subject to change once it has been allocated, but I hope this helps :)

Thank you David for that information. It does help.

  8. To clarify and expand a bit...

The QM2 docks at Red Hook, Brooklyn. The QV and QE dock in Manhattan. Usually.

VERY rarely, the QM2 will dock in Manhattan, if the Red Hook piers are unavailable (after Hurricane Sandy, of if a big Princess ship is there). I suppose that the QE or QV could dock in Brooklyn, but I don't think they ever do.

Here's a link to the NY Port site that lists where the passenger ships scheduled to dock in 2018. (However, there can be changes or typos, so it still could change in unusual circumstances)

    https://www.nycruise.com/schedule/

Thanks a lot Mark for explaining the different docks I was a bit confused. Thanks also for the link.

  9. Just wanted to draw your attention to the fact that the 25th of April is an important public holiday here in Portugal (it is the anniversary of the 1974 "Carnation Revolution" which overthrew the dictatorship) so some things will probably not be operating as normal. It would be worth querying this with any companies you contact about tours.

Thank You for some good information. Good to know and be prepared for.

  10. Yes, you will have time to see the high points. We had a half day city tour and another day took a half day tour north to Sintra and Cascais. I wouldn't try to go out of the city, though, especially if it's your first visit there.

The only thing to consider with the hours you're in port, if it's a weekday, would be afternoon traffic, but your guide will worry about that.

The city tour included a drive through the Alfama neighborhood and up to a viewing point for some beautiful photos of Lisbon and the Tagus River. We didn't go to St. George Castle, but did have a nice view of it from there. She took us to one of the elevators, I think Santa Justa. Then to Belem for Jeronimos Monastery and the Monument to the Discoveries and the Belem Tower along the river. If you have time and it's not too crowded, you could try the delicious Pasteis de Belem. The Praca do Comercio is not too far from the dock (assuming your ship is docked where ours was) so you could asked to be dropped off there to look around and maybe get drinks and tapas at one of the many outdoor restaurants around the square and then walk or taxi back to your ship. Taxis were inexpensive.

    Yes, located in NW GA.:):)

Thanks pickypicky for the suggestions and information. It really helps. We will be there on a Thursday.

  11. Here you go:http://mywaytours.pt/en/

I requested Carla Carita (I misspelled it previously) because I had read such good reviews of her on TripAdvisor. I can't remember the cost, but it was worth it.

pickypicky, thank you again. The link is great. Our ship doesn't arrive till 12:00 noon. Do you think there will be time to see the sites? Thanks again.

I also see you live in Ga. I too live in Ga. I'm in North Ga.

  12. For some reason, CC has Lisbon in "Other Mediterranean Ports". You will probably get more replies if you post your question there.

But since we were there last June, I can give you my opinion. Lisbon is a beautiful city with a lot to see and delicious food to sample. We had a private guide, Carla Carlito, I think it was My Way Tours. She can pick you up at the port and show you all the must sees and make sure to have you back in time. The HOHO bus (I didn't try the one in Lisbon, but this is how they usually work) will have you waiting for another bus to come along each time you hop off, so you will waste a lot of time going with that option. You might find someone on your roll call to share the expense of the guide...Carla had a van which would have held more than two passengers.

Good luck and enjoy Lisbon...we loved it!

Thank You for the info pickypicky. I will look up My Way Tours.

  13. We will be arriving on the Crown Princess on April 25, 2019. We arrive at 12:00 noon and depart at 8:00 PM Could someone please recommend a tour company. Will we have time to do some of the tours? First time crossing the pond so feeling my way around. Thanks for any help and suggestions you can offer.

  14. I have a 25 day booked, check it at least every other day. Found a 1100 price drop, called immediately, got rebooked. 2 hours later the fare was 'Not Available'. Next day went up 550.

Hi weedpindle, I have booked my first Princess cruise. It's for 27 days in April 2019. How far out was your cruise when you saw the price drop? I'm hoping the price will drop enough for me to be able to upgrade to a balcony. I'm not sure if the British Isles in April is a good time to have a balcony.

Thanks for any info you can share with me.

    Sandra

  15. I’m on the breeze now. Pig and anchor was open on embarkation day.

Thank you for that info. I don't sail the Breeze till Nov. but I will be glad to get some BBQ when we board.
