1. Just stay home. Lock your screen doors, and hide under your bed. And stop telling people you are a healthcare worker. Even if it's true, statements like "wondering if Royal Caribbean or other cruise lines had stopped hiring employees from that area during this outbreak" make health care workers sound stupid.

No. It doesn't make health care workers sound stupid. Wanting to be aware of whats going on is not stupid. NOT A BIT.

Some people can be so belittling.......

Being fearful of this outbreak is smart. Thank you OP.

  2.
That's not the night club. The On Air Club is the On Air Club.

The night club is The Crypt. You currently access the top level from a sliding door on Deck 4 port side, outside the Schooner Bar, between the Schooner and the entrance to the Casino. You access the area on Deck 3 from either port or starboard, at the elevators.
Thanks! That makes me feel better.

We hope you had a marvelous trip!

(5 weeks....we're jealous! We only have 525 days to go for ours.)
  3. OCD is not really healthy. Not something I would want to get involved with. I book a cruise. Book my excursions and extras, then enjoy the cruise. The point is to get away and relax, not to be stressed out and obsessive about the vacation.

But it isn't stressful planning vacations. I love the excitement, the research, the anticipation, etc. Worth every minute.

Then we cruise and enjoy everything about it.

  4. As I am? I am never happier then when I lay that lovely deposit on a cruise, that means I get to obsess...er...plan and research to my hearts content.

I've planned 3 friends cruises and airfare and when their TA couldn't get a good price, she gave them the prices I had sent them. (Apparently she was really embarrassed!)

I don't say this for bragging, I'm not that way. However, I want to know my fellow OCD cruise friends.

    And you are....

We are the exact same way! Just look at my countdown. I have a LONG way to go, lots of time to plan! :D

We are planning a family reunion and I am planning and booking for all.

It is depressing if we don't have one booked....and we celebrate when finally booked.....something to look forward to. :)

  5. I believe this was in the parents court.

Six years old in the big pool without someone with him?

I was IN the pool with them at that age. Period.

The comment earlier regarding the lifeguards and the fact that parents would use them as babysitters would only make matters worse.

I am in property management and the residents are always demanding a playground. We have an expansive lawn area for the kids to play on. One next to a road with speeders going by all the time. They don't want to let their children play there because they don't want to have to be there with them to make sure they stay off the road. They want a fenced in play area where they can put them in and close the gate.....using the fenced in area as a babysitter because they are too lazy to stay and watch them. The same would happen with lifeguards.....they would depend on the lifeguards to watch them.

I'm not blaming the parents for what happened.....IMO I just can't understand why they weren't in there with them at that age......

I hope this poor little boy pulls through. Sad, very sad.

  6. May 23, Star Princess left San Francisco. I was watching the cruise ship tracker for the first 24 hours, then it dropped off the radar and it hasn't updated in almost 2 days.

The other Princess ships are showing but not the star.

    Does anyone know why?

  7. I meant no dis-respect in hoping that the OPs boyfriend can kick his nicotine habit. He has an addiction to nicotine... it is unhealthy and expensive. There is nicotine in the vaper... and whether it goes into his lungs or is expressed as second hand vapor... more than one person is being effected negatively by his addiction. I still hope he finds a way to kick the habit.

I was surprised to learn a few things about e-cigs; that they're addictive, yes, but I could probably have guessed that since they are a delivery system for a highly-addictive substance, nicotine. I was surprised just how toxic liquid nicotine can be when it comes in contact with our skin, and in such small amounts, but the big one for me was how unregulated the devices are. Despite the marketing claims that e-cigarettes are safer than smoking tobacco, researchers are finding e-cig users experience diminished lung function, airway resistance and cellular changes, regardless of whether or not they currently (or ever) smoke cigarettes. And in the lab, cells exposed to e-cigarette vapor show unhealthy changes similar to cells exposed to tobacco smokers. Users who vape nicotine-free e-cigs can't escape the effects, either; they also experience airway resistance and other signs of inflammation as side effects of e-cigarette use.

    Well said!

  8. Honest question... How far out from embarkation date did they cancel/charter the cruise? I've not heard of Royal doing one less than 12 months out, more commonly at least 18. And at least on AA, on which I have accrued nearly 3 million miles, I know you can't book a flight a year in advance - they generally open the date for booking around 9 months out, give or take.

Freedom Jan 2015 was cancelled in May 2014.....only 8 months out.

  9. When you start a thread erroneously whining about RCI catering to the "ultra rich" with charters and then list 12 sailings you claim have been chartered, when in reality 5 are dry dock weeks, 5 are just a mistake and you had the wrong date on another - leaving ONE week which may be chartered - you should just plan on "being put down for your comments."

You didn't read what I said....and I did come back and apologize for the ultra rich comment and my mistakes.

I said the whole month of Jan 2016 was cancelled....Jan 25 chartered. May 3 chartered.

Oasis wasn't available when I looked the day before.

And yes, I realized and admitted my mistake with Navigator instead of Liberty.

Erroneously whining comment is uncalled for.

  10. OP, don't get your undies in a knot over something that probably will never happen. You'll be a year past Freedom's dry dock so no worries there. We've been cruising since 1997 and never had a cruise cancelled for anything let alone a charter. If it happens, you can come back and yell at me. :D

I probably just jinxed myself but I'll take that risk.

The problem or reason why I am unnerved is because I have had 2 cruises cancelled on me.

Just leaves me on edge....especially with all of the posts I'm seeing regarding cancellations.
