  1. Here’s an article https://reasonstobecheerful.world/trayless-dining-university-food-waste-solution/
  2. I’ve had kids at 6 universities, no trays.
  3. I think they need cards when you check them in, the 10 year old can get sign out privileges (sometimes they do outside activities), no kids club for the 2 year old (and no pool/water activities for diapered kids).
  4. Don’t they just need friends 21+ to travel with? My college kids are 21, 21 and 22.
  5. Back in the day, buffets had trays (cruises, buffet restaurants, dining halls) and they’ve been gone for years. I doubt they will ever come back.
  6. We’ve always booked connecting balconies with our 5 kids, just leave the connecting door open, it’s like having a 2 cabin suite with 2 bathrooms.
  7. I’ve had 5 in different colleges, all spring breaks were in march, our public schools have spring break in April. Here’s a table https://www.ststravel.com/college-spring-break-dates?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4cSN5aL2gwMVC1lHAR17lwHxEAAYASAAEgIT4fD_BwE
  8. NCL (like most mainstream lines) adds a DSC pp pd. The gratuity you’ve already paid is the gratuity got the cost of the UDP ($21 a day pp), it’s based on what the gratuity would be if you purchased the package.
  9. No but they will set up lounge chairs and umbrellas on the beach.
  10. Nit me, but I’ve recently read a few posts about how this still works, and they were recent.
  11. I don’t think cruising is for you, this could happen on any line, and does.
  12. I’ve never been on a cruise with trays, I thought they were discontinued everywhere years ago. I know all of my kids’ college dining halls didn’t have them anymore (so they couldn’t go sledding in them like back in my day). It helps prevent waste and one less thing to clean. https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles/what-to-expect-on-a-cruise-the-cruise-buffet#
  13. I’m guessing you are new to cruising? Cruise lines make changes all of the time, it might be a week before your cruise, gratuities go up, cabin cleanings twice a day go down to 1, shows are replaced, policies change, ports switch, prices go up and down - it’s all very fluid, trust me they have excellent legal teams and it’s all covered in your cruise contract. Websites take time to catch up. I think celebrity was being generous, I’ve seen websites offer some incredible deals in error, folks book and whatever was in error is cancelled by the cruise line. Did you really think the ceo of a huge corporation was going to get back to you? Someone who was banned?
  14. I’ve had 5 teens, they loved going to the teen club that first night and meeting others to hang out with for the week (very social), had them all in under 7 years and they are very close, but each always managed to find their own crowd. On our last cruise the oldest were 19 and 20, they had to work hard getting a group together.
  15. I know enough about the south to know this, and if I heard children with southern accents saying it I wouldn’t be offended, the same way someone in the south shouldn’t be offended if children from the north didn’t say it. It’s different cultures, not different upbringings, children up here are taught to be polite. Same with using miss “first name” in the south vs. Mrs. “last name” in the north.
  16. We do teach our children manners without the sir and m’am, please and thank you so much, may I be excused, thank you for dinner, literally every pleasantry besides sir and m’am (which is very rare and many times those who say it are doing so to be brats). I was pretty shocked when my daughter told me this (especially since the woman was looking at her medical chart so knew her age). I guess it was a “bless your heart” moment.
  17. My young adult kids are very polite, but saying sir and ma’am here can be considered rude and sarcastic. My 21 year old daughter was chastised by a healthcare worker in SC for not saying yes or no m’am, my daughter told her she was not being rude, and didn’t want to get in the habit of saying it because when she came home to the nyc metro area it wouldn’t be considered polite. She has a pretty strong NJ accent so it was pretty obvious where she was from. I was surprised an adult would criticize another adult regarding cultural manners.
  18. RIU is our favorite so far, breakfast/lunch buffet was good, beach beautiful, drinks included.
  19. Yes, at noon, they will encourage you to go to the buffet with the masses but we prefer a nice sit down lunch.
  20. Zero, which makes me wonder if it’s the port or the cruise line. I love driving a short distance to cruise ports, my husband will retire in a few years, empty nest, I’m hoping we can take last minute cruises having a fire sale and we have no loyalty to any line.
  21. Complaint letter 101, short and to the point, leave emotions out, and paragraphs are your friend. https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/sample-customer-complaint-letter
  22. I’ve sailed out of NYC 4 times on NCL, never had any issues at all with other passengers. Been to NYC dozens of times, no issues. My young adult kids having been going to manhattan since 16 or so, they go often, again no issues.
  23. Yes and each additional person will be charged taxes and fees.
