  1. You literally have no idea what you are talking about. NCL (and the other lines) will instruct you to put an adult in each cabin, and then tell you to go to guest services to get the extra cabin keys (they will mark them with permanent marker so you can tell them apart). Do you even cruise with children? This is very common knowledge.
  2. With separate cabins the adult in each cabin gets the FAS, the teens will get the soda package, only the gratuities need to be paid.
  3. No they won’t, they’ll put an adult in each cabin on paper, after boarding go to guest services and they will gladly give you extra keys. The adults will get FAS, the kids will get soda packages. We’ve sailed with 5 underaged kids several times.
  4. They won’t need to do that, if they go to a MDR for lunch that person should come to their table to discuss options. My celiac daughter ordered breakfast and dinner the night before, before heading out to eat she’d call and say where and when she was dining and her meal would show up, even at the buffet. Since you can’t take food that isn’t factory sealed off of the ship we’d bring some from home. Four different NCL ships, worked great each time.
  5. I don’t think anyone pays directly for specialty restaurants but use the freebies from FAS and add another plan if they want more.
  6. You have the same options as everyone else for dinner and will be charged for specialty dining.
  7. If you drive I highly recommend using the parking deck on the pier, sometimes you can make reservations in advance and some have had a discount on longer cruises.
  8. Was this before or after they changed the pp limit?
  9. Plus the mark up onboard is more than $6 + $15.
  10. What is different about having a tip jar at the drive through vs. the counter? Why would one tip at the counter but not the drive through? I usually don’t tip at either, no fancy order from me, but I don’t begrudge a tip jar.
  11. It used to be well advertised and on every cruise, same with the buckets of beer.
  12. The FAS is $21 pp pd, a glass of wine is around $13, so if you drink more than 1 glass, it’s a good deal. Plus, you can bring on as many bottles of wine as you wish for no corkage, so that $50 bottle on NCL will cost you $8.
  13. Let her know this isn’t the “real” pig island of exuma where pigs have been inhabitants for a long time. These are just farm pigs brought up an island to get tourists to come. And they poop.
  14. My daughter just drove from NJ to SC back to college, avoids I95 like the plague, heads west and then south. Her sister will take Amtrak back to BU next week.
  15. I asked my oldest’s pediatrician when I could stop sterilizing water and bottles, I was told babies need clean, not sterile, and to just use tap water and soap and water for cleaning. It wasn’t until the internet that I learned folks in the UK sterilized. Where I live it’s not a good idea to sterilize water, homes are old so there could be lead pipes, boiling the water concentrated the lead (I always ran the water). By the time I got to #4 and #5 (twins) I did make sure I had enough bottles to use the dishwasher so their bottles were sterilized (unnecessary but easier).
  16. I used powder formula for all of my kids and just added warm tap water.
  17. I would never suggest a hotel in Manhattan based on proximity to the port, same with NJ hotels.
  18. Yes to luggage, in my opinion business class isn’t needed, regular is still way nicer than flying.
  19. Well, when we experienced short port staffing that lead to hours to disembark, we were trying to get home (20 minute ride) for our daughter’s confirmation, needed to be at the church at noon (we made it), if we had a 1 pm flight we probably would missed it. Most of the time a1 pm flight would be fine. I wouldn’t place blame on those who booked safe flights.
  20. I honestly don’t think tipping is becoming more of a problem, just that these machines are programmed for it generically, I’ve heard from some business owners it’s not that easy to reprogram them. No one is expecting zip for self checkout, yet patrons complain. I just click 0% in those situations.
  21. NYC news is my local news, so I get daily updates on nj transit, Amtrak, subways, and while it happens it’s not often, usually weather or person on the tracks.
  22. BTDT once at the Manhattan cruise terminal on NCL. Lined up before 7 am, was off the ship at 10:45. They are sometimes short customs officials and it just backs up with the ship wanting folks out of common areas so they can clean. Spent an hour on an outside deck freezing.
  23. A family balcony will be closer to the kids clubs, a club balcony is a balcony with a bigger bathroom and some perks.
  24. The FAS includes soda and virgin drinks, and you can get free juice, coffee, tea and water in the buffet.
  25. It’s pretty good here, at least the northeast corridor. My daughter used to take it from Delaware to Newark NJ in undergrad, and now Newark NJ to Boston for grad school, never had an issue. It’s only a 2 hour trip from DE to NY, and on the off chance of a closure the OP can just drive.
