  1. I book excursions from carnival routinely. Every now and then I book outside or walk off ship and do an excursion. Carnival shore excursions are a fair price and if you like what they have book it because you are not going to find a big difference.  Plus if the weather cancels the excursion, delays etc carnival handles all of that too. If your booking on other cruise Lines yes I book outside of cruise line as many lines way overcharge for their excursion.  I typically have decided my excursions before I board as I do not want to spend time on board standing in line at the shore excursion desk.

  2. Bear in mind this is not a local jewelry store looking for a customer who will be coming back. As a result they will look to get what the traffic will bear and the quality might not be what you think it is or told what it is.

Never understood why people will buy expensive jewelry from people they will never see again.

    Totally agree!

  3. Go read there cancellation policy on ticket contract. See how it applies to your friend and then call the cruise line. I think you can make a name change but it will be up to them or call your TA. I would hate to see you miss out on something that by acting promptly could have been avoided. Best of luck

  4. ONLY the cruise you book with the TA will be affected - Any other cruise you already have booked will have nothing to do with the TA and you will use your current vacation planner for those cruises

Any future cruises will only be affected if you have that TA book them - If you book a future cruise online or by calling your vacation planner the same rule applies the TA has nothing to do with it

Thank you! Thats perfect.. I will be able to choose how I want future bookings also!

  5. Hi

You can do what you want. If you are concerned, just let your PVP know, especially if it is someone you have had good relations with in the past. I do believe they can tell if you have a current booking. My PVP called after I booked directly, I explained the situation and no problem. He said he understood and told me to call him if I needed anything else for the booking.

    hope this helps

I will probably do that and call pvp and explain. Thx

  6. Hello,

I have currently booked any cruise directly with cruise lines always. I have never used a TA.

I have an upcoming cruise and people in the group are using a TA. My question is if I use that TA will I give up, or change my status with my current vacation planner with carnival? Will it just be for that cruise etc.? I don't want to upset my carnival vacation planner or create a change that would be permanent.

I appreciate your feedback in advance.

  7. ".it happened and I am sure it IS a terminable offense which is why I didn't say anything but wow......"

The people on the board that know me also know I would have gone to the GM and specifically point out the situation. How would management know there is an issue if they are not apprised of a problem? This is why I always say people are afraid to complain or address a situation that you did not feel was appropriate. We have saying in the restaurant business, people don't complain, they simply don't return.

Surveys are meaningless because they want or expect the highest mark on everything and we all know anything less hurts the employee. The reality it isn't the employee always but many times the company policy that guide the employee is the problem. I agree with coevan I don't complain I just don't return. As far as tips go gratuities have gotten weird in USA. I see tip jars in gas stations even these days.

  8. Go to one of the more private beach locations and as you lay on the pink sand beach talk about how magical it is to be with her in this beautiful place and you can tell her you want to record this because she will mean something to you forever. While doing this you can dig your hands in the sand and pull out her ring from the sand and as she looks amazed that you just found a ring." Of course you will have just tucked it in the sand" you can propose to her. The moment and the emotion will belong to the two of you forever and while it may be recorded it is more important that it is always felt. Good luck and I hope you have a great marriage.

  9. Cruisegirl as long as you like the food better and your getting better deals on rooms on RCCL I would keep cruising them. I personally liked the food on RC to slightly better than carnival but I only did Oasis once and I hated the massive ship too many people for me and you had to get tickets for shows before you sailed. Beautiful ship just too many people. I sail more on carnival because I like the music and bands by the casino. Music 50's age people like. I did like the breeze over the Oasis for comedy shows etc. but I prefer the smaller ships 2000-2500 people because you only have one lido deck. Why do I want an overcrowded lido deck. Lol. Anyways have fun.

  10. Yes you are correct I guess. But if this was binding every time someone handed someone there phone or camera on a ship to take a picture, the stranger would have copyrights to that photo. So make sure you find them and get permission to use them lol. I get it and if you want to get technical you got me lol. Bottom line is at least up here in MA the courts have spoken and I don’t feel I needed permission, nor will I worry about it.

With all the leaking in the news at the highest levels that shouldn't be leaked these days why the big hub bub on these pics??. Really it's in the interest of helping and informing members here of the truth. The real truth not skewed by a company trying to possibly hide facts and help people whose upcoming vacation will be effected. More importantly make us all aware of what can happen and consider the safety of our families. Fortunately no one appears hurt and the major news services have reported on this also. So I am more concerned over the passengers and crew safety and people who are to be on the Dream next than I am whose photo this is.

  11. Carnival customer service tries hard in my opinion. I have been on a couple of rough sea port delay cruises and carnival was more than fair and did what they could. I'm sure they would have with you also. I think you will still have a great cruise. Carnival will be a different experience than Hal or princess or Norwegian etc. but I like the energy carnival has.

  12. Thank you Sanger. Enjoy that cruise on celebrity. I was at the space needle in Seattle just last year before boarding the Pearl for an Alaska cruise. Three adults with an infant smoking marijuana in broad daylight in front of the space needle and then later get in their car and drive away. Crazy. I do have to admit I don't know much about marijuana but I know it's stronger and worse.

I do so hope they ban smoking in more places but Better yet stop selling cigarettes period and save lives. Why don't we do that? Of course there will be some crazies until they ween off nicotine. Anyways safe travels and I do wish you the best!

  13. I seriously doubt you're a non smoker.... a non smoker sees the very clear difference between someone sitting at their table eating fatty and sugary foods; just generally minding their own business and in no way affecting me... as opposed to someone sitting at a slot machine next to me, polluting the air I need to breathe.

I'm assuming anyone sitting with you arguing about your diet is someone you generally chose to be around? I've never run into a stranger approaching me debating Atkins, paleo, what not. Again, very different to a smoker, complete stranger, lighting up near me and the smoke being an issue...

It's not about differing beliefs. I don't have any issues with cruising around people who do smoke. I do have issues with people smoking around me (particularly in enclosed spaces) because it stinks, it makes the air and anything I'm eating or drinking taste bad, it makes me cough and is hard to breathe, and frankly it's at least a little toxic. You tell me how someone drinking an alcoholic drink or eating fatty food makes your food and drink taste bad, makes you cough or have trouble breathing, and is in anyway toxic to you.

Hmm. You are very wrong about me. That's what opinions and assumptions do. However I still like you. And if you knew,me I would be all about diet, nutrition and healthy lifestyles etc. I read on those topics approximately an hour a day. I don't read on smoking since I haven't ever tried to eat them. I am saying bad diet is just as bad as smoking for you. So for the people who eat bad, drink and smoke good luck and prayers for you. I will refrain from making poor judgements on you. I do wish we didn't have smoking. Difference is I can handle it maybe better or I don't live in the casino. Whatever I just don't see it changing. More and more people are smoking marijuana as a recreation drug in more states and police don't do anything anymore so how are you going to get smoking to stop? Best choices will be your own choices and stay out of smoking areas on ships. I can go to ceasars Windsor anytime I want in a smoke free environment so why fret on vaca. I fully agree on no smoking and if you can stop smoking please stop marijuana too. I have had the displeasure of smelling that coming from people smoking it on balconies before. I hate that smell even more than smoking!! Having said that do you now think I smoke marijuana too??

    Lol.

  14. Thoughts....

    • Statistically... Alaska is driest April to July, Vancouver is driest mid-July to mid-August. One thought would be to start with a July Alaskan cruise and spend your extra days in Vancouver late July to time yourself for the dry weather. You might even get a chance to catch the annual fireworks competitions.
    • Vancouver is an incredible hub.... you can fly in/out of Calgary to include Banff. Others may be interested in adding Seattle. What I'm trying to say is think "open jaw" in your flight planning. Example.... fly into Calgary, one way bus to Vancouver including the Rockies. Go on the cruise and then return to Vancouver to continue your journey to Seattle (via Victoria?).
    • if you have family.... think at least a week in Vancouver... lots visitor activities.
    • if you need hotel ideas.... staying a few blocks from the cruise terminal offer value savings.

Excellent advice. Been to Alaska twice and used open jaw philosophy both times and made it even better vaca

  15. I don't think Carnival is worst cruise line in the world at all. I was on board a b2b in January when the Fantasy was stuck near Cozumel due to high wind and rough seas. Delayed the cruise a day and a half back to port. Carnival was extremely gracious and went above and beyond the cruise ticket responsibilities. I was impressed. And controlling weather is impossible.

  16. I cruise with a vegan niece.

What someone eats is so very different then if someone smokes. Or not. Smoking is different. It affects more than the smoker.

Actually, it is social development that has evolved with smoking over the years. Factors include health and the sheer numbers. Smokers are a minority.

I concur with your statements. I would agree with your niece 100 percent and obviously like no smoking. However I have these same food debates with family telling them how vegan lifestyle is better. And of course they can give me studies that say meat is just as good or high protein or Atkins like diets. What is the truth? Hmm. Maybe it's whoever is still left standing Don't know but I do know I can get along with people of opposing beliefs, lifestyles etc. and have a great time cruising. Happy cruising to you.

  17. Can't believe people still try to use that ridiculous argument

Your to funny. Your reply just shows lack of social development. I don't smoke and I don't care about smoking. I do eat healthy so oh well. What I don't do is come onboard a ship which is a community at sea and insist everyone conform to my idea of right or wrong, healthy or not healthy. I realize that freedom provides choices. If you can't handle that someone smokes etc. stay home or don't cruise. It's that simple.

I choose not to smoke or eat sugary food, foods or desserts or meat. However, if we are both onboard I won't be complaining about you eating meat, desserts that clog arteries etc. or someone that smokes. I leave that at the gangway and accept everyone onboard and their habits. If I couldn't handle it I wouldn't cruise. So fix yourself to perfection before you force your opinions on others. So tired of it

  18. They gave the option of not taking the cruise. However that's a tough decision since if you flew to the port like me I would have lost airfare and also you took off work etc. unfortunately though it was all about the weather. I was on both of those cruises and the captain not returning to mobile was the safe smart thing to do. I am missed also going back to Cozumel.

  19. Definitely ask maitre'd about low sodium. They do have some vegetarian choices. I just got off the Fantasy and I am on low sodium. I choose their heart healthy options on menu. Which if you look online at menu will have a heart by them. However you need to choose for yourself on eating. Not just low sodium but low fat as well. So picking particular things at the buffet makes this easier such as creating your own salad, eating beans or choosing brown rice. For breakfast I ate daily oatmeal with raisins or nuts and skim milk.

So yes it is possible to eat low sodium but not easy on board the ship as your husband is probably being asked to stay 1500 mg of sodium or less a day. With your cruise being a month from his heart attack much of what is important is how much damage his heart had and is he physically able to withstand travel.

Either way happy to hear you were blessed with him surviving a heart attack! Happy Travels!

  20. Onboard the Fantasy now and we are delayed till 11am tomorrow. 5 day cruise that was to start on the 23rd will now be a 4 day. Progresso will be the stop and Cozumel has been dropped from the itinerary. The seas were rough today and clearly the captain and carnival made the right decision by not trying to return to port yesterday. The weather will cost carnival in the existing cruise becoming a 5 day and the 5 day becoming a 4. They have handled things as well as anyone could expect them too
