  1. I have been on Allure Not escape but have cruised on various ships. Allure is my least favorite of any ship. It's beautiful but they cattle drive u from one thing to the next. Food options are plenty and embarkation is actually very good. I just don't want a ship that big foremost. Only one way to know for sure is try it. Once was enough for me.

  2. Ask why do they have different brands??. That will answer why the loyalty program shouldn't be all one. If that was the case they would get rid of Cunard, Princess, holland America etc. and just call them all Carnival. They don't because they know that would be a mistake just like one rewards program would be Each brand caters to a different market and the rewards programs can tailor themselves to that market. That's the advantage of capitalism vs communism. Lol

  3. When Arnold Donald first took over, there was a press release where he stated that he wanted to combine loyalty programs. We see what happened to that!

Now RCI is a different matter, as they have less cruise lines. Thus, being "Elite" on Celebrity, I joined the RCCL C&A society and instantly became "Diamond", and I have yet to sail them!

Now let's look at this to extremes. Let's say you are "Platinum" on CCL, and I am Platinum on Cunard. What level would you expect to be on Cunard, and don't even think of saying "Platinum". I'm not a snob, and not bragging, but on my over a dozen Cunard cruises including 3 TAs, I have probably spent as much as over 30+ CCL cruises. One alone was $15,000, and not in a suite either. Thus, some can view it not just as "points", but $$$$$ spent.

Frankly, I would resent a CCL Platinum to become Platinum on Cunard.

If you want to try the upscale CCL brands, then just go on them, and if you like them, then continue to establish your points.

Now, if I went on CCL, based on my Cunard status, I would expect to become Platinum instantly! However, the reverse will not work.

I do not understand how some "perks" will get someone to try another cruise line in the family, especially if that line costs 2-4++ times more, and with Cunard, demands proper evening dress (bring a suit or tux, guys).

RCI is one thing, but I do not see this happening with Carnival.

    Nomex suit on! :D

You Cunard people are kinda stuffy. Lol. Keep it the way it is

  4. Really????? You make no sense at all. Wait staff and jobs like this make very small amounts even on land. When I was a waitress I made $2 an hour I counted on MY TIPS TO HAVE A REAL SALARY. The wage I made for a 5 hour shift was $10 but with tips it was more like $100 or more so obviously you have no clue what your talking about comparing doctors to wait staff is ridiculous think before you type next time please.

Your case is unfair to someone who lives in a culture where tipping is not the norm. Where pay compensation is based on the value of the work they perform. Why is it the a waiter in a diner or a waiter in a more expensive chain don't get same amount of pay for same work. The difference is simply the amount of the check. Let alone you go to a high end Resturaunt spend 400 dollars and tip 80 dollars. The service may be somewhat better but it is not 5 times as good. Tipping is bs and employees should be paid the value of their work by employers and not by the guests. And no my job does not provide tips. I do a great job period because that's what I agreed to do period.

  5. OP,

I feel your frustration. People can be mean. I'm sure they'd be just as frustrated if they were delayed getting on a cruise they'd been waiting a while for.

Hopefully, you don't have to wait much longer and you can start your vacation.

    Hang in there. :)

True that!! Makes you hope they are not on same cruise. Lol

  6. I have gotten a cancel for any reason plan from Carnival once before, I think it was two or three years ago. But for my cruise least year, it was not available anymore, and for my upcoming cruise this year, it was also not available, according to my pvp. I, only recently began looking at Carnival's insurance plan's coverage, and see that it is not the best, so I heeded the advice of posters on here, and got a policy from insuremytrip. Much better coverage. Cost more, but much better coverage in my opinion. However it also is not cancel for any reason, but has a broad range of reasons to cancel.

I started buying carnival insurance last two years and I have never seen cancel for any reason?? I would love to know if they actually still have this product???

  7. I have done it both day before and same day. If your flight is non-stop then your probably gonna make it. I had a layer and a bump from our flight once in Atlanta coming from Cleveland. Luckily got the airline to give me another flight to lauderdale and had to get taxi to Miami. We made it on board 15 minutes before departure time and I was a nervousness wreck trying to make it all happen calling the ship etc. since then I book my flight the day or night before. DW is a school teacher too with the same restrictions. It's just to stressful to push the same day.

  8. Yes you can do that on sunshine which has the newer internet plans. I purchased the premium and at times the performance was great and at times either due to ship location or activity level on the wifi I wasn't able to get streaming video. However it is so much better than it used to be and so much more reasonable. Good luck and enjoy the Sunshine!

  9. Cruz. I get your disappointment. I know PVP planners could do that. I know that if you don't have your info and facts that PVP will not necessarily put you in best room location or give you other information to help. You have to know what to ask. My PVP did not give me all my casino info instead I get info from here then went and search for it elsewhere. Carnival etc. I applaud you for stepping in for your parents and I have a mother in law who suffers very badly from Alzheimer's. My prayers go out for you. And one last thing if you don't make sure to tell them on check in your premier you will get pushed into the herd. They check a list that your name is on because it wasn't on boarding pass. I think that part is screwed up.

  10. Just off the sky and the open bar was great. Free drinks everywhere no need for your card just walk up and get what you want. Bud, budlight, Heineken Miller lite to name the ones I saw. Wine, and tons of hard liquor. Whatever you want you should find. First time for me being on Norwegian and can't say enough about how impressed I was with the open bar on sky. It's like being at an all inclusive land based resort. Pretty awesome !

  11. As you enter the boarding are let the staff know you are a premier casino guest and you will board with FTTF people just slightly after them. I boarded by 11:45 am on glory and my room was ready. Can't say that will be the case for you but that was my recent experience on the glory. Enjoy and good luck in the casino!
